I don't have time to find it this morning, but Briley had been order in for psychiatric observation a couple of weeks before this. The guy has problems. They should be private problems, not public ones. Time for him to retire. [edit] Still in the RSS reader and more news: http://www.tennessean.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20070915/NEWS0201/709150375/1009/RSS0102 Briley resigns House leadership position http://www.tennessean.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20070915/NEWS0201/709150359/1009/RSS0102

I don't want to start a food fight here, but the older you get, the more you know how impressionable you were in your younger days. What's the old saying? Something along the lines that when I was young, my father was obviously very stupid, but the older I became, the smarter he got. -
A couple of quick things. This just shows how things can get out of control. First, if the police believed they had probably cause to search the vehicle, they wouldn't have asked for permission to do so. You need to understand that. That's important. They searched because they were given permission. They are trained to get that permission. In this case Mike didn't know there was something in the vehicle that shouldn't be there. Mike's brother owes him the legal fees. Second, here is a video that is put out by the Flex Your Rights Foundation. It really is the ACLU in disguise. It mostly tells you how to get away with not getting busted for the drugs in your vehicle or home, but the search information is something you need to know. It's a long view but worth taking time to get your head straight about what not to let LE do to you. And as you recall, I'm pro-LE. But don't give your rights away. [ame] [/ame]

East Tn TGO Members SEPTEMBER 2007 Meet

Wish I could be with you guys and gals. I'd show you what a H&K can do against a Glock. Well, that's probably a lie, but it should get your blood pumping if you are a Glockodist. Pat and I will be hopefully keeping dry on State Street until around 2330 hours after a very soggy yesterday. Rhythm & Roots continues tomorrow too. We noticed yesterday that about 3/4 of the bands we wouldn't classify as country. We also noticed that the worse the band was, the louder it played as if volume made up for lack of ability. -
Uh, I'm a veteran and I wore a boonie this morning in the rain. And a lot of the old veterans like me at the VA do wear boonies, especially the disturbed ones I know who tend to build their hooches off of VA property. And we do make fun of each other for doing crap like that because we know where the other guys have been and how they got that way. And someone needs to take their Midol.

Good grief, why would you care if your account was deleted on a service like that? -
If I was them, I'd pick whatever weekend that neither Vandy nor UT have a home game. But I'd pick a date. But since I'm not driving that far to shoot with them, I guess they don't give a **** what I think.

I still feel that way about a speeding Ticket I got in Maryville back in 1968. Speed limit sign behind the bush thing. Costs me, best I remember about $40. Considering that a quarter in college cost about $500 back then that was a lot of money. I figure with interest that's about what the courthouse is worth.... They still owe me for that and I will get revenge before I meet my maker. Vengeance is mine sayest Marswolf.

Looks like the site will be well watered too. May not help you set up Tower, but it looks like the rain will move out by show time on Saturday. Mean time, I get to set up my wife's jewelry booth on State street in the rain starting mid morning. Good thing I have plenty of Goretex. We'll be out there today through Sunday if anyone wants to take in some good country music. -
Excellent news. I'm glad the nightmare is over.

I knew you'd come around Urse.

What you have is a weapons system with components from different manufacturers. In this case, the handgun is made by one manufacturer and the ammunition by another. There are certain standards for both components, but it isn't the responsibility of either manufacturer to police the manufacturing process of the other supplier. But guns and ammo being potentially dangerous stuff, you try to engineer your part of the system so poor QC or design of the other doesn't lead to catastrophic failure. For a cartridge manufacturer, that means that if you load hot, you might increase the thickness of your case. For a gun manufacturer, that means you fully support the round in the chamber. My contention is that there are better guns on the market than Glocks. Those other designs are reliable, accurate and...safe. So why settle for a gun with a poor design?

Just another Glock religionist trying to ignore the gun's obvious faults and deny reality.

I've been a collector of militaria for some time, but I'm slowly selling off the collection now. Out of space and running out of time. If I ever get more time, I'll go back to my old genealogy hobby.

Have they ever figured out a date?
-
If you ever forget that, it's time to retire. I learn something new about my job every day.

So tomorrow is the big day huh, Mike? Let us know how it goes. And congratulations to you Greg.

Mindset is a difficult thing to really establish. People can have the best training and equipment, even months of field experience and yet go into complete panic mode when they get shot at or have someone around them get wounded. They just forget their training, do exactly the wrong thing and even go hide while their compatriots continue to suppress and eliminate the danger. Mindset is just talk until you have to act.

Meanwhile back at the ranch.... Actually, I find that Glocks can be damn accurate. That's not why I have a problem with them. I have a friend who is semi-retired LE. He's a constable now. He has carried his G23 for many years in several departments and is one of those people I'd not want to go up against at 100 yards or so. My problems with the Glock come from the poorly supported chamber section, the ability to fire out of battery and the inexplicable tendency for people to set them off accidentally while pointing at their leg or butt. Lots of good guns out there that don't have those problems. Why settle for one that does? And I found some 45 ACP ammo this morning in a box that a friend reloaded for me. I can promise you it's +P+. That's all he loads. It is something that I know should not be fired from a Glock. When you fire a round from your handgun, you might need to be concerned with how much recoil to expect, but you shouldn't have to worry about if the gun will destruct in your hand if you get some over-hot loads. And as far as wiping down a gun more than shooting one, I'm sure I've done that. I tend to wander around in jungles and such and wiping off your handgun or rifle is a good idea. But a fair amount of my target practice has had a moving target on the other end of the bullet path. And the target was shooting back. I tell you that not to brag or convince myself that I'm manly and that somehow others without that experience are not. Lots of good people are not combatants. I tell you that so you will understand why I hold in such disdain those who do not put themselves at such risk, or who try and fail at such adventures, but who issue challenges to others to supposedly prove their worth. Note that this was not our situation here. But that is the situation with one bit of vermin we have talked about. BTW, here's what a real warrior looks like.

Belated happy birthday! I did pretty much normal work but reflected that 9/11/01 got me out of retirement and back to doing something that is hopefully useful to help my country.

I have a friend who is a North Carolina police detective. Before that, he was an officer who made the normal traffic stops and grunt work. There you do have to tell the officer that you are armed, BTW. He routinely let speeders go if they had a carry permit.
