  1. I have had a couple. For my second, I used my TGO lower in a long range 6.5 G build. I used a Shilen barrel from Midway that has worked very well...but not as well as a Broughton barrel I used in an earlier build. That thing shot dime sized 10 shot groups at 100. It was sold to fund some other builds just after Newtown, though. I regret letting that first one go.
  2. Looks like a prepper. There is no crime in having an un-serialized gun, as long as he didn't remove the numbers. The stash doesn't tell us if he had evil intentions, but he is well and truly f'd if he modified to a machine-gun in given what just happened in Vegas.
  3. This too, shall pass. I am very bearish on our long term prospects. Even if we stop importing liberals immediately, it's already midnight and they are diving into the running bathtub with a bucket of chicken as I type this. They out-breed us at an astonishing rate. Those AR's will skyrocket in both price and importance in the coming years.
  4.   Jack O'Connor would agree.  He was no slouch.
  5. The French leaders have invited the Uruks to live among them without requiring them to give up their barbarianism.  They must awaken Charlemagne.
  6. Shine it at your wife while she is trying to sleep.  You will see it's effect.  Make sure you don't have it mounted to your gun when you do so.
  7. I would like a titanium 308 can of some kind. Also, hoping for a Galil ACE if they ever get the kinks worked out.
  8.   Lol, you said the 6.5 had more energy...Spomer doesn't say that!  There may be a point out past 1500 yards where the 6.5 catches up to 300WM, but even at 1500 yards, the 300 WM is ahead of it. The 6.5 catches the 308 though around 1100.
  9.   I don't have a dog in the fight, because I shoot 6.5 Creedmoor, 308, and 300 Win Mag, but I don't trust those numbers.  The Ballistic Calculators I use show the 6.5 Cr 120 Grain Hornady load in a 26 inch barrel carrying ~540 Foot LBS at 1000 yards.  190 Grain Fed 300 WM is about 1000 foot pounds, and 308 in 175 SMK is about 575 foot pounds.  I have validated the trajectories and POI vs the programs with real results, so I think they are right on.  I have not validated a 168 grain load in 308, but it can't be hitting twice as hard as the 175 load.     I like the Creedmoor alot.  If you are target shooting, it's tough to beat.  But I don't think you can argue it is superior to 308 in terms of "power" at 1000 yards.  It is certainly not the match of the 300 Win Mag (I know you didn't say that, someone else did) at that range, or really any other.     For target though, IMO the only real knock on 6.5 vs a 308 is barrel life..which probably doesn't matter to most of us here.     I think TMF is right.  I would only argue that in my experience, 300 yards seems to be a better test than 100...though wind comes much more into play at 300.  There is some ballistic funkiness that occurs at short ranges sometimes that get worked out around 300 yards.  I have a Sendero in 300 Win Mag that shoots 1 inch groups at 100, which is kind of shitty...but it shoots 2 inch groups at 300, which is much better.  I have known other shooters that have experienced the same thing.  It doesn't make sense to me...but it seems to happen. I was ready to throw my Sendero in the trash until I started shooting at 600 yards.
  10. I foresee lots of ND's.  If you are using it and don't want to fire the release round, how do you keep from discharging it?  Switching it to safe?
  11. Also, the sights on the underslung barrel are a nice touch.
  12. Elcan Specter DR on top.    On trigger, I really like the CMC Flat Triggers.  Geissele of all flavors are great too.  I just like a single stage for quick shooting and the two-stage for precision.   If you haven't looked a the BCM KMR rails, its worth a look.  They appear to be filled with helium.
  13. I...what?     It's not April 1st is it?
  14. It should be close.  I wouldn't be surprised if pressure is the same because of that ogive that the AMAX has.
  15. Well, the SMK is an HPBT.  But I am sure there are other HPBT's out there.  SMK's are definitely match proven.   From what I understand, the 175 is a better choice for 1000 yard because in most guns, the bullet will still be supersonic at that distance whereas the 168's may be transonic.
  16. I suspect the extractor and plunger springs are too strong, if the problem is as shown in the video of the shell flipping all the way around.  I bet the new BCG just had different springs in it.
  17. I have had good success in my SCAR with 168SMK's and Varget (the load that is on the bottle), but I haven't tried any of the powders you have listed there.
  18. Great shooter, great trigger and ergonomics. Very first shot I took with mine was at a coke can 40 yards away. Nailed it.
  19. Excellent use of The Stig in the bottom left corner.
  20. Bud's has decent prices and a good staff, but the SIG P320 I bought on July 3rd was $86 cheaper at Smokey Mountain Knife Works across the street.  I didn't mention it in this thread, but the gun at Bud's was $585.  At SMKW it was $499.  I didn't price check other guns, but I will not overlook SMKW in the future.  They were very friendly as well.  I have always found their knife prices to be high, but apparently the Gun Shop in SMKW has a different owner than the Knife part, though I believe it is his son.   http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/topic/89096-4th-of-july-handgun-purchase/
  21. Boys who played with those old toys could not be made to sit down to pee.
  22. A little late, but I have two.  I love them.  If you are a Sportsman's Guide member, they run the double discount coupon about once a month which puts them under $450 shipped.
  23. Umm...she was pretty good at tennis. Won some doubles, and then there was this.
  24. I was diagnosed with a weird hybrid of Type 2 and Type 1 about 20 years ago.  They believe it was partially hereditary, though I am adopted and don't know ANY of my family history.  The big problem with mine is that no single, or even 3 drugs control it.  So, I am on Glimpiride, Actosplusmet, Victoza, and until recently, Novolog (on top of some non-diabetic drugs, that I take as a preventative since I am diabetic).  That kept my sugar under control and I could pretty well eat anything within reason.  I never have eaten a lot of sweets or cared for soda pop.     Recently I asked about Invokana, so my endocrine specialist put me on it and took me off of Novolog.  Apparently, recently my pancreas peptides have shown that my natural insulin production has improved (probably due to the Victoza) enough that she thought I could do without the Novolog.  Since the switch, my A1C has remained where it was, around 6.8.  The upside is that I have lost about 20 pounds since adding the Invokana.  Victoza, while helping my sugar greatly, never helped me lose weight.     The downside is that she had to break up the Actosplusmet into its components, Actos and Metformin, and upped the dosage of the Met just a bit.  So now each morning, I take 4 metformin, 1 actos, 2 glimipiride (Amaryl), 1 Losartan, 1 Prevacid, and the victoza injection.  I am not usually hungry for a big breakfast because I have filled up on pills.     Anyway, to circle back, it may be worth asking about Invokana, as well.     As for Victoza, It is believed that it increases the risk for Thyroid and/or Pancreatic cancer, but the findings have been pretty inconclusive.  Pretty much anything you put into your body carries risk, so I figured it is worth it, Before I started taking it, my sugar was always on the border of out of control, even when I was on a strict diet and playing hockey 3 times a week.     Regarding diet, It isn't all that complicated.  Carbs in general are to be reduced, especially for a diabetic, although, you can eat a lot more than you think depending on what you eat with them.  Your body prefers to burn carbs, then fat, then protein, in that order.  So you have to mix them right.   You can pretty well eat all the carbs you want as long as you aren't eating fat at the same time, or within 3 hours as the carbs.  There are four meal mixtures:     1) Protein and Fat.  It is good.  Your body will burn the fat and store the protein.  (bacon and eggs--no toast!)   2) Carbs and Protein.  This is also good.  Your body will burn the carbs and store the protein.  (Lean meat sandwiches with veggies-easy on the mayo!)   3) Fat and Carbs.  This is very bad.  Your body will burn the carbs and store the fat.  Sadly it is the mixture found in about anything that is really tasty.  Potato chips, french fries, biscuits, Apple Pie, Fettuccine Alfredo...all the things that make life worth living.   4) All of them together.  Almost as bad as number 3 for the same reason, but at least you store some protein too, I suppose.  All in all, the closer you are to eating 1) and 2), the better off you'll be.     Everything you eat turns produces some blood sugar, but carbs do so gram for gram at a much higher rate than fat and protein.  So cutting the excess carbs you can is what makes the big difference with your blood sugar.     Type 2 diabetes has become so common now for two reasons.  We don't "work" anymore.  Most of us work at a desk, and so don't get enough exercise,  The other is that we have heavily increased the carbs in our diets because it is cheaper than fat and protein.
