    S&W Sigma .40VE

I used to own an SW40VE. I really liked the gun, but it started developing feeding issues that spring replacements and a trip back to S&W did not fix. I later owned an SW9VE that was reliable and quite accurate. I eventually got used to the trigger and it was no longer an issue for me.
  2. Not all law enforcement agencies choose the cheapest round. As a matter of fact, more agencies are selecting rounds based on performance than on price. Of course price is important, but not the MOST important. If that were the case, agencies that use the Gold Dot would have selected less expensive alternatives. The Gold Dot has been a favorite of state police agencies due to its performance against automobiles and windshields. They could have easily selected a less-expensive non-bonded option.
  3. I have been thinking of adding a .45 to the collection and have been checking out the Ruger P345. It feels good in the hand and appears to be a well-made firearm. Anyone own one or have any experience with them, good or bad?
  4. In .357SIG, the Speer Gold Dot 125 gr. is king of the hill, followed closely by the Winchester Ranger 125 gr. Most state police agencies that issue the .357SIG caliber are using Speer Gold Dot, i.e. Tennessee State Troopers.
  5. Best 9mm Self-Defense ammo: Winchester Ranger T 127+P+ Speer Gold Dot 124+P Federal HST 124+P Remington Golden Saber 124+P
  6. Statistically they are about equal, however, I think the .357 Magnum has a slight advantage. It really depends more on what you shoot the best.
  7. I didn't know you can only carry what you use for the certification course. What if you use one caliber to take the course with and decide to change later on?
  8. Thanks for the info guys. I plan to get the certification on my own being that it is not really that expensive.
  9. I am looking to acquire my Armed Security certification soon and would like any info on training classes in the Middle TN area. So far, the main places I have found are A.P.P.S. (Nashville), Academy of Self-Protection (Joelton) and On Target (M'boro). Are there others in the area, and how is their quality of instruction.
  10. Since I volunteer from time to time as a Safety Officer with the MJPD, I highly recommend taking the Handgun Safety course there. For the price, it is hard to beat.
