I had never heard of Optex sensors before but they are pretty cool little devices... kinda pricey if many were needed though.

.22lr ammo is the only ammo that places can get away with heavily gouging on at this time. A lot of otherwise decent gun shops have fallen prey to the .22lr price jacking temptation and maintained reasonable prices on other items. I'm not saying that there's no way that they paid $75 per brick and were "just passing it along" as a favor to the shooting public but I find it rather hard to believe that if they had normal to no margin that they would take a $15-$20 lick just because of a bit of bad press. Assuming that they are now selling it at THEIR purchase price they were taxing folks at $20 per whack on something that is known to be a touchy matter so they were at minimum short sighted. I also might could believe that they are taking a $20 hit just to save face if it were a few bricks but I can't get my mind wrapped around them taking a $20 per brick hit on 2 pallets worth. But we're not the biggest losers in this deal (we didn't buy any) think about the folks that saw them post the Armscor for $75 per brick on Facebook and went down and purchased it because they were out and had no other options for their kid(s) only to see them post it for $20 less the following week. Kind of like getting slapped in the face twice over one purchase. I will completely agree with you on the fact that no one is twisting anyone's arm to buy it. I love the free market (or at least as free as the government allows) but the free market includes folks right to bring awareness to overpriced goods so as to provide the uninformed shopper the knowledge that this is not a reasonable price.

Guess that's better than $75

You'd definitely have to have a buddy with a semi. 4-8 pickup trucks and trailers depending on what truck and trailer is used and that in and of itself is cost prohibitive I would think. Sure would be nice to have 60,000 pounds worth of lead stockpile though huh!
-
Not sure what a crap load is but I'd have bought a moving truck full if I could get it for 10-12 cents per round... Then I'd have gone about finding a rifle to shoot it with!
-
That could very well be the case. I have done a lot of casting but have just started with the powder coating. I should have some extra time after I get through April to work at it more. I'd want to do some testing with pure lead and powder coat before I bought thousands of pounds of it.

Does this mean you won't be doing the Murfreesboro shows anymore? I think they are RK shows but can't remember for sure.

So I begin my descent into madness...

I used to jump on TGO and head straight to the "ammo and reloading" section but for the longest time now it has been mostly filled with .22lr rants so I've avoided it. Gives me a fuzzy feeling to see some good threads starting to show back up! As for the RCBS hand primer, I have the regular RCBS hand primer with the round primer tray rather than the universal but have used both and prefer the non universal model. If you're loading for a caliber then you are already going to have the appropriate shell holder so unless i'm missing something you don't gain anything with the universal model. As far as .223/5.56 component costs goes, you won't save much if you buy small amounts of commercial bullets and powder but if you'll get hooked up with David and get 55gr pulled bullets and surplus powder from him you can save a substantial amount of money. I've used every common brand of primers and haven't had any real trouble from any of them. A friend had a couple of light strikes but I think that was more due to his rifle than the primers. I think I've had maybe 3 failure to fires out of 4-5,000 Remington SRP's. I've had zero problems out of CCI or Winchester SRP's but have only been through 2-3,000 of each of those. I will say that if given the choice of small rifle primer I will buy Wolf/Tula as I've never had the slightest bit of trouble and I've been through 15,000+ of them and that's a good track record IMO. Enjoy the journey and Like Red said, "casting is the addiction"! -
Clod, I saw them at Books-a-million the other day here in Murfreesboro, you got one of those near by?

If it's pure lead it will get really expensive trying to get the bhn high enough for most firearms applications. I had a line on a bunch of pure lead and did the math on the costs to mix in various other alloys to bring it up to acceptable hardness and no matter what I tried it didn't make sense. Maybe I missed an option? Perhaps.

I would suspect you're right about not getting the same response :) -
Should be a great experience.

How old's your son? Not that it really matters, first deer is always a great milestone. Good luck next season as i'm sure it'll be here before we know it.

What about a bayonet lug? don't forget the nasty demonic bayonet lug.

I don't know what area of town Peace is in but the fact that he is in the city limits makes mine and his situation different. Having a creek or river running through or along your property will almost certainly net a man more than his share of folks just millin' around whether they are fishing, "hiking" or they grew up wading and or walking that creek fishing. We've had a handful of folks show up way atop the hills my folks own and a few of them in the dead of night. One young man and his dad use to drive up to the top of one of the hills just for the view or at night to see the stars and city lights so it seemed to him a good place to go park with his lady friend. Problem was that since my folks bought the place the driveway doesn't go to the same hill it used to and he damn near drove him and his girl off a cliff but luckily for him the frame bottomed out on the edge of the rock and left the truck teetering back and forth. He was also lucky my dad happened to see the lights headed up that hilland was able to use our fork lift to reach out there and pick the truck up and sit ot back on flat earth (I'd say his plans for him and the little lady didn't pan out after that. Well look at me off in the weeds chasing rabbits.. anyhow, if it were someone just easing along enjoying the creek I wouldn't get wound to tight over it personally but depending on where a man lives at he may have more cause for alarm than we ever have Like someone else mentioned, the world has changed a lot over the last couple decades and you just don't know anymore I guess, heck we didn't even have a key to the doors of our house until I was driving and even then I don't thin the door was locked unless we were all gonna be gone for an extended period... Wouldn't dream of doing that now days.

I've got a couple sets of those table legs in the shed (pack rat in me I guess) I used a set a few years back to make a poker table and it worked wonderfully! Nice looking use of them in your case as well.

Hang in there Tanker, Constant pain, even if it's not especially excruciating, can and will change a man if he's not careful and I speak from experience there. Plenty of good folks around here to chat with as you already know.

I second Raoul above. Especially when someone admittedly utilized the link to score .22lr ammo 2-3 times and gets what they need before taking it to task to get the link removed. Hypocrisy seems a bit thick.

I'm a sucker for pit bulls and will own no other dog but I've not always thought like this. I never had anything against a pit bull or any other specific breed but after I adopted a rescue pit I realized just how great the breed is. I'm saying this because I agree with your statement and it gets used quite frequently when you own pits. I have two exceptions though and they're are both related to Dalmatians. Both of them were with great families and were always good with kids, cats, adults, etc.. But both snapped and bit for no apparent reason and showed no signs that I could see. One bit the daughter of its family and the other bit the son of its family. The son was bitten during a game of fetch and the daughter while sitting beside the dog watching a movie. I understand that SOMETHING was the trigger but when the trigger is hard wired with no fuse it doesn't give any time to change what you're doing. Now that's 2 instances out of hundreds and hundreds of dogs I've been around so I'm thinking that's good odds.
