  1. I use TiteGroup on everything I can...everything you listed.
  2. I found a place while surfing the internet that makes tabs that can be welded in place of the metric thumbnail tab.  I will likley do the mod if I get the sight figured out....keep you posted.  So far I have a few interested buyers, so I am waiting to see if that pans out first.  I also picked up 8 30rd mags for it recently (metric)
  3. I was about to puke when I saw you posted this....until I clicked on the link ....Very nice!
  4. I took the classes....been debt free ever since, and have money to blow on gun stuff (ie budget  ;) ) I didnt entirely listen to Dave though.  I keep one CC for online purchases , work , and travel.  I keep a zero balance on it.  The only note I carry is on my house, and that's solely because I dont want to stay in it and need my saved capitol for when I find the right piece of land.     I recommend the class, even if you dont agree with all of it.  The point of view you come away with is very valuable.  Besides his teachings are nothing new...save for a rainy day...pay cash...negotiate....maybe I am just a country boy, but these things have served me well.
  5. Caster, great thread and thank you!  I just received most of my casting goodies and have been waiting on a visit from my father to run me through the basics.  I got everything I need to cast for 9mm, 38, 357, 40, 45, and 44mag.  Are any calibers finicky or harder to cast for for any particular reason..  Might be a dumb question, but I'd like to start with the easiest one , if there is one.
  6. The best revolver in my opinion :) They dont call it the Rolex of Revolvers for nothing.  I also own an Anaconda and while it is pretty darn nice, the Python is about impossible to beat.  :2cents:
  7. Same here. I have a 6" Blue, but Im in Mid TN.
  8. Bahahaha thats awesome!  Needed that laugh!
  9. Keep yall posted.  At this point I have about 3 people interested in buying the thing, so I may wait to see what the new "laws / awb" looks like and do so more trading.  Regardless I am still ahead as I traded a AMT Ruger 10/22 knockoff for it.
  10. Thanks!  Great link.  I took it out to my shop, tossed it in the vise, and i couldn't budge it with the tools I have laying around.  So off to the gunsmith it goes.  What a PITA!
  11. Welcome and hello from the boro as well.
  12. There's plenty of gouging going on with 22LR too at this point.  I was surfing Craigslist this morning and there was a guy selling 1000 rounds of rimfire for $400!!!   :ugh:  I highly doubt he will find a buyer.
  13. I mostly load 24.6 of WC 842 under 55gr fmj pulls for plinking.   I also run 25.3 of Varget for accuracy loads.  25.5 to 26 of WC846 works pretty well too.  I work all of my loads up with a chrony.
  14. I like walnut but corn cob seems to get things a bit shinier.  Sometimes i mix the two, and add a capfull of brass polish.   They all seem dusty after a few loads of brass.  One trick that has worked very well for me is to cut up a dryer sheet into squares and toss that in the works.  It keeps the dust down a bit and pulls alot of garbage out of the media.
  15. Glad to hear it David!  Luke mentioned that you had some wheel bearing issues.  When do you suspect your Magpul order will arrive?  Also wondering if you ever get 30 cal tracers.  I've played with your 556 tracers and they are a blast, now my buddy wants to run some thru one of his 308's.  But i dont think Ive ever seen them in your booth.
  16. They are fun.  They wont cycle and arent horribly accurate.  I like to put my can on my 10/22 and put a few thru it for that "movie quiet" sound that makes folks smile.  That being said, be careful...they can also get stuck in the barrel as they only use a primer charge and no power.  If you dont see a new hole in your target or see some dirt fly it would be wise to check your barrel.  I have only ever had one get stuck out of the several hundred Ive shot.
  17. Yeah the piston is certainly off parallel compared to the barrel a bit, and hence the hand guards are a little twisted too.  Thanks for all the help.  I'm going to take it back to the gunsmith that installed the barrel for my buddy before we traded and see what he is willing to do for me.  Worst case I do it myself.  Something tells me a few "job specific" tools may be needed so I'll see if he will do it before I venture off on it myself.
  18. So doesnt that mean that correct extractor position dictates the gas port position and hence the front sight?  How can these be clocked differently?
  19. Unfortunately I think your right, but can the extractor line up any other way? Does it have some leeway in both directions to allow the gas port to be lined up?
  20. More pics:   http://i1354.photobucket.com/albums/q689/timthetoolman75/photo_zpsa6ad5775.jpg   http://i1354.photobucket.com/albums/q689/timthetoolman75/photo1_zps66786a77.jpg   http://i1354.photobucket.com/albums/q689/timthetoolman75/photo2_zpsbb229f99.jpg
  21. A gunsmith put the barrel on, this wasnt a home project.  The extractor is lined up well.  The gas block is set at 2.5 and holds the bolt open fine, turning it down it won't.  Yeah the handgaurds are jacked sideways as the bolt that holds them on and passes through the gas block lines up with the machined groove.  I will take it a bit further apart and see what i am contending with, but I think the gas port is lined up......hence my frustration.  I dont see how the gas block can be adjusted either direction if it has to line up with the port.  If I were to rotate the barrel and get the site straight then the extractor would be misaligned right?

  24. Well i started a photobucket account just to post the pics and I cant seem to get them to link...... uh where to i find directions for pic posting?   I tried posting links below...thanks for the help!
