1. Something that has't been mentioned is that the primary calls contributing to the most officer sustained injuries by firearm are traffic stops and domestics. Guys that work patrol have to be on their toes, complacency can lead to loss of life. This post doesn't mention why the car was stopped. On a side note for educational reading read the account of Mark Chestnut MNPD who was shot multiple times during a traffic stop. Chestnut was experienced, good natured, and knew his task well.Hes the kind of guy you wanted to be your neighbor. One would maybe understand the need for caution, especially working interdiction.Id like to know the rest of the story w the squirrel catcher traffic stop....why did he pull the vehicle over?
2. Most rangers tend to get carried away.To me a hcp holder has passed a bg check and shouldn't have any past felonies.... The probability of an accidental discharge increases by 3rd party disarming. Were talking a traffic stop not a checkpoint roust in a hostile area. Geez. I've heard sumner co le has been chastising hcp holders as well.bad bad bad.. I'm on the same page as patton. I fear the hidden crap as well. On a side note, its not good for anyone in le to intimidate a reasonable person, especially one that would jump in to assist an officer in distress,or an officer thats getting his ass kicked roadside by a handful of thugs. Of course a squirrel catcher wouldn't think of that as that scenario wouldn't happen in a park,typically..... I think in this day and age its best to say zero during a traffic stop. As officer wages decrease idiots increase,I advise everyone to check out aclu take on traffic stops and searches. Good stuff on you tube.Working in le I respect an educated person. Especially when they excercise their rights.
3. The russian dude is the kid on "fps russia" on you tube. always doing "something" w various weapons, pretty funny sometimes..
4. My ex wife, hang a lost dog, reward offered sign up, and shell catch em and run with em back to the owner for the reward.make sure they have to be returned to a non existent address in juarez mexico, the owners name is Dee Yay thanks ps if you need me to supply dogs, pictures or anything to help let me know.
5. man, what a good question,i'm new to it as well,i spent hours and hours reading and watching videos as none of my friends re load for a variety of reasons. The few guys i did find were too busy to train me.The shop i bought my gear from was of little help, spent serious money and after the sale all they could give me was were smart you're stupid attitudes until i caught em selling me a used die set for new price...i wont go back needless to say.. i bought a pistol a while back from lebanon gun shop,if theyre class is as friendly as they are in general, ill pop 100 for class in a heartbeat!! I buggered up a lot of rounds getting it right, spent a lot of time pulling em apart too.100 would be a great investment imho
6. I believe that if there is anything that will interrupt the gas flow, the pistol will rear up and puke.the gas port is about 1/16 in dia.the hole in the gas block was almost 3/16.The gas tube hole wasnt lined up right as well,so i aligned everything using a dremel, dig caliper, and 20/20 vision. re assembled again tested works good.Of course ill fix it till its broke because its been my problem child.well see how it works when the noveske pig arrives..... <efg> actually ran 200 rounds through it this afternoon ran like a sewing machine, thanks for all the help from everyone. having all 3 holes ligned up where theres nothing inhibiting the gas flow seems to be the trick, making the hole in the 4 rail block oblong didnt upset anything
7. port alignment update : i opened up the hole in the aftermarket block to be in line with the hole in the tube. i did this because the pistol started showing ejection malfunction. ran 5 rounds through it today to test all good. other lesson learned: be careful with what u buy at gun shows ie where i bought the 4 rail block. I think the person i got the block from got a deal on blocks w hidden issues. anyhow all good just wanted to pass it on
8. Buying at a gun show is no different than buying at a local gun shop. All laws and rules are the same and apply. If you pass the background check you can buy and leave w a gun. At a gun show the variety is larger with more buying choices.Finding someone experienced that you trust is an excellent way to go as cardcutter advised. I wouldn't recommend a gun show as a good place for your first purchase.Like anywhere else the gunshows are there to sell.sellers come and go,you get good and bad sellers everywhere.Look around at the show, get a feel for what you might like,it would be a good experience.Probably a good idea to buy your first locally so you can get help when you need it as a valued previous customer. You may pay a little more but if its a good shop, the value added service is worth more than what you'd save at a gun show.Especially if the guys at the shop are cool and dont try to fleece you. Gun shows are good if you know what youre looking for and are on top of your pricing. You have to be careful as some of the gun show guys will change parts from kits to sell separately for more money, so know what you want, know what you should get,and if youre not sure ask someone you trust if not sure. The shows can be fun and addictive and educational, to a point. The last thing you want is to get a deal on something thats got problems that can cause damage in the long run.....The best buy is an educated buy,Hope this helps, enjoy!
9. OK here's the deal, problem solved. I yanked the gas block etc last night.Evidently the port in the barrel was clogged with trash, rusty nasty stuff.I took a small bit and cleaned it out, punched the barrel to rid debris, done.Next step, the gas block hole and gas port were not properly aligned after the mfgr re installed the gas block.Port in the barrel was at 12 oclock. The hole in the 4 rail version is at a diff distance than the single rail block.properly installed with good alignment there should be a 4 mm gap between the edge of the block and the edge of the grip where you can barely see the gas tube. Bottom line is after cleaning the port and re aligning the gas block alls well, fired 2 test rounds,it cycled just fine. The lesson learned is the gas block and barrel port alignment and flow should be checked during the build or rebuild especially when maneuvering components, but don't fix it till its broke. When performing any operation with the barrel take the time to clean the port. This upper was brand new.I was told "all of our uppers are test fired".........well ,last but not least i've learned to make port alignment part of my checklist, timing applies to autos, and when in doubt check basic specs, never forgetting when you hear hoof beats think horses not zebras. Thanks for the help guys!
10. im disappointed that so many focus on the scam and negative aspect of this. the story came from a woman that saw the event, and sent a nice letter to the pd.Of course this is subject to authentication as always but its not unusual for a nypd guy to actually help someone.NYC changed dramatically after 911.the event seemed to bring emrg responders closer for a variety of reasons but attitudes changed. what that cop did was no diff then helping someone at the range downrange or in a lot fixing a womans flat.even if it was a staged event the message has decent value. imagine if some of the gun shop owners carried that ideaology.....the value of doing something nice for someone is priceless, the cost of doing evil is everyones expense...
11. ill get the measurements, partial unlocking is possible, face of the bolt had a burned look to it. thanks
12. They wont come on here to do any damage control or promise better treatment because they fear it might actually cost something to win customers over......theres actually a concept where people dont mind paying more for something because they get treated with respect..imagine that.I respect business owners and I understand the cost of doing business,I also understand some customers will never be happy regardless, but in this case the masses seem to over rule the single guest...
13. Home brew AR pistol, new, using amer eagle 223 55 g ammo pistol wont extract fired round unless its done manually. am inclined to believe its gas block issues; any input appreciated especially trouble shooting process. am leaning towards: Temp swap bolt cg w known working bolt cg to eliminate extractor issues re check gas block for alignment of ports/holes Have already checked for obstructions in the gas tube, none could this be a timing issue? and if so how do you check upper was setup and checked, got it from J and T thanks in advance
14. Meh, FGS impressed me with the proud inventory.some of it was priced beyond MAP,and ridiculous.I was looking for a holster one day and couldn't live without it.I found what i needed, not wanted but needed in a box w other used holsters marked 20.00. i checked out and they charged me 30.00,i told em the whole box was marked 20 guy said it is what it is,i replied well theres no price on any of em it says 20 on the box? he said nope its 30.00. i paid and left wont go back. pure priniciple.the holster by the way was an old safariland for a full size hk pistol, had a metal strap, needed it for a railed pistol. nothing special,it was a size thing. The gunsmith is friendly but the rest in there just love to talk to customers in a condescending manner to make em feel like idiots.a shop w a range not too far away went under for the same reason.....so much for promoting the er sport. i didnt know they would haggle, they offered me 200.00 for a marlin 1894 in new condition towards a sig pistol i wanted.the same rifle was going for nearly 600.00 in some stores and by priv owners.god i felt so special... not trying to hijack a post but ill list my fav local shops to buy guns within a 25 mile radius of franklin. Armadillo arms franklin ( gunsmith and shop) best of all, excellent service will order whatever u want, fun place to go to w great attitudes.honest and fair.around the corner from FGS 1 goodlettsville gun shop phil will find you what u want if not in the case 2 Specialty Arms La vergne lots of inventory, they love to wheel and deal lotsa sigs n glocks lotsa rugers good guys. 3 Shooters m boro road next door to gun city new shop great attitude good prices 4 east nashville gun shop ( bills place) will find u what u want nice to deal with good prices 5 DT Rivergate good guys good prices good price on ffl transfers

18. wild bills concealment holsters @ 65.00 there's also some others that will cross fit that.Congrats on the new iron i love mine too except for the price of a magazine for that pistol, youll crap your pants when u see what they cost..

20.
Does an AFG fall in the same category as a VFG?
No.A Magpul AFG or the like is fine, just dont do vertical, lots of material to reference this on the big ar forum w links and law citings. Ive done a load of research on this and read through the oh so clear laws on definitions..it can be confusing.posted letters back from atf have to be read closely. especially when it comes to ar pistols.Me thinks the vert grip thing is crap as i would want to see the grip allowed w safety being a concern. The law seems to imply that you should be able to fire a pistol without using a stock or a support, lawyer im not but thats how i perceive it I dont get why a rossi mini chuck connors style rifle is a pistol when it has a stock and a lever action, but you have to pay 2 bananas to put a stock on a shrunken ar.......i wish atf would focus on intl shipments and exportation of crap hadjis using to build ieds instead of what law abiding folks are into.... The russian dude is pretty funny, cool stuff to watch bet he doesnt sleep well at nite lol. rant off hope this helps
21. "Word about the kill spread quickly. The hunters abandoned their camp, but residents told WISC-TV the hunters planned to return this weekend for more hunting." The "hunters" in this scenario must be stupid, pissing off wisconsin folk in the winter can turn into mayhem....leaving camp then coming back, like ron white says u cant fix stupid...... very disappointing im pro hunting but anti goober.....that sux.....
22. pretty funny, i mean almost 9 minutes of shovel demo. Master Wu: Wong you will make movie to show use of shovel or die: Wong: yes master as long as u teach me to fight! I want to learn karate and fight w shovel! LOL
23. not available at lowes depot or ace,fun for the whole family, the soundtrack alone is priceless The Chinese Shovel
24. Something else i figured id pass on was,my first radio was an alinco djg5t handheld. a dualband 2m/440 that came with nothing but a charger but had a lot of features,I still have it to this day. it got me going.once i got friendly w it i moved up to mobile units. lots of options out there from mild to wild wallet and preference rule...
25. Im a tech as well and went through the same process.bert nailed it well. Radios can be like guns, something for everyone.Might help to know what bands the folks are working in your area. With 2 m and 440 being popular youd probably fare well, but Id do some research and see what repeaters are in the area. I have a handful of radios that are well over 10 years old but work perfectly well.Sometimes age doesnt matter w radios.Used can be a good way to go to save money, try before you buy,and or bring someone w experience to help.Hams are honest for the most part and love to wheel and deal for "stuff".You may catch a coffee session as most of the hamfests are done for the year or may hit a site like hro or grove in ohio on the net. If you need any help catch me off list. 73's KB2YOD
