1. As long as they are not in the same chain of command, then there would be no conflict of interest or violation of AR 600-200.  (SSG, U.S. Army, Retired)
2. Sale ended on 12/22....back to $479.  Dang-it!
3. Depends on the child.  Some are more responsible than others.
4. http://www.academy.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_10051_570322_-1__?N=39632023   $150 off their regular price.
5. We got the Taurus PT809 last night.  We are both happy with it...need to set up some new targets on the farm.
6. I'll fire a few .308 rounds at it from 100 yards and see what happens....won't be able to shoot again until next tuesday.
7. Found a easily obtainable source for steel targets. Go to any implement store or tractor supply. Most bush-hog blades are made from hardened steel. I picked up one earlier today made from 5160 spring steel, hardened to RC38-44. It's about 6" X 14" with a hole already cut to attach chains. 5/8" thick as well. I have painted it fluorescent pink. Will hang it up soon so I can hear it GONG! I paid $30 for it. Could have shopped around and found one cheaper...but, I was there, and it was begging me to buy it. http://www.tractorsupply.com/flat-rotary-grass-cutting-blade-12-in--1216214
8. Did you hear about the dyslexic athiest that didn't believe in Dog?
9. I can't even walk and chew bubble gum at the same time....Impressive!
10. The Mrs. and I recently moved from TX to TN. I am originally from the KY/TN area, just left transplanted in TX after my career in the Army. I am retired from the Army and work in computer forensics. Go hunting / fishing / shooting any chance I get. We have pistols, rifles, shotguns in various calibers. However, we enjoy plinking with the 22 more than anything. Glad to be back!
11. Took the Mrs. down to Academy to look at these two pistols, plus a few others. She likes both Taurus and the Ruger. However, she can't easily operate the slide release on the Ruger. If she can't fire it, then I don't want to buy it. Yes, she "could" get her own, however, she needs to be able to pick up any weapon we have at home and be able to use it. OK, case closed...back to the Taurus, she can operate slide release, safety, mag release and trigger.
12. OK, I'm sold...getting the Ruger, thanks for all the input.
13.
What are these "Iron Sights" you speak of? Is that something they used in the olden days?
You forgot to raise your sarcasm flag. LOL
14. I own a Marlin 22LR. I would suggest a Ruger 10/22 for you. It's accurate, quality, has the most aftermarket accessories (even conversion kits for AR style).
15.
How you do the front one, have a dove tail milled, or what? - OS
I will have a gunsmith do this...I will definitely not be messing up a new rifle
16. I am no gunsmith...however, it could be dovetailed, drilled and tapped and/or soldered. depends on what type of front sight is used.
17.
What's your intended purpose for it?
Home defense, plinking, groundhogs and snakes LOL Leaning toward the Taurus at the moment.
18. I have narrowed my decision down to 2. The Taurus PT809 and the Ruger P95. I'd like to hear any "first person" knowledge on either of these pistols...Pros / Cons. Which one of "these" would you buy and why? (not interested in other models...thanks)
19. I put one on layaway last week. I'll pick it up next week. I will probably get a Bushnell Banner 3-9X40 scope. Also, will be installing iron sights in the near future. My wife is thrilled and can't wait to pick it up.
20.
Forget the may apples. Poisonous if you eat enough, whole plant is toxic, and even small doses act as an emetic and cathartic, so spewing from both ends is not a good survival strategy either. - OS
I guess I've never eaten "enough" of them to get sick. My mother made May Apple jelly every spring. Much like the passion fruit, really only collecting the nectar around the seeds.
21. Wild cherries, crab apples, may apples, pine nuts, hickory nuts, duckweed (water lentils)...if you starve in the woods, it's your own fault.
