  1. I would recommend before you go and buy a revolver for your wife you may want to take her to the range and rent a few different revolvers. The trigger of a LCR is very good, but the recoil maybe too much for her to handle as would some of the S&W light weights. If that is the case, the Ruger sp101 maybe another option with the hogue replacement grips. Yes the gun is heavier and it does have an exposed hammer but the recoil may feel less to her.

    New LC9S

Just a punch(s) is all that was needed to remove the pins. Also, need to be careful not to lose springs ;)

    Bye Bye Bersa

Based on the last question about felt recoil, I would recommend renting the bodyguard and shoot about 50 rounds through it to see if you can handle it. I for one don't like the gun. 50 rounds and my trigger finger was raw. I do have fairly long fingers that may account for my problem. Also I found the trigger was very long and heavy. Hope this helps.

If the magazine falls out of the gun let's say by accident with the magazine safety still in, the gun will not fire even though you have a round in the chamber. By removing the magazine safety the gun will fire without a magazine, if you have a round in the chamber

    Bye Bye Bersa

I have owned the SIG 238 (actually a few) if you like the 1911 style type of guns (single action) you will like the SIG. I just did not like the 380 platform. That was the reason I sold them. The Beretta will hurt as will the s&w bodyguard. The trigger on the lcp is long. I haven't shot the Glock so no comment on it other then I just don't like Glocks in general. Also you could sell the 380 ammo and look at 9mm. I have an lc9s and like it as a carry gun after I removed the magazine safety.
  6. Every student and parent should bring an American flag to every school in the county and see what they do! This is just plain and simple BS.
  7. I would also recommend a revolver 357mag. One HCP class will not give him the training against hitmen. If he takes a few defensive courses and doesn't practice he is just wasting his time and money. Take him to a range a few times and let him rent and shoot different guns to see which one or two he likes and go from there. You must let him pick his guns and calibers and if he doesn't want to practice he needs to hire bodyguards. IMHO.
  8. Heaven for me. With Jesus's intersession.
  9. I to would not trust my life with a Rossi revolver. If he wants a revolver tell him to look at Ruger or s&w or just stay with the Berretta.
  10. Speed loaders for me. I use the HK's and never had a problem with them.  I use both the 5 and 6 round 357 mag/38 spl. versions, depending on the gun I am carrying/shooting.

    New LC9S

Me and Mr. Maganet found the manual safety spring and it is now installed, so I will be taking the LC9s to the range this week to see how it functions.   Life is good!

    New LC9S

Went one more step today, I removed the magazine safety. If this gun does become part of my carry guns I don't want something like a magazine drop from not allowing a gun to fire. Should have done it when I first took it apart. Well at least I didn't have to worry about losing the manual safety spring when I took it apart this time. :(

    New LC9S

Picked up a new Ruger LC9S yesterday at Guns and Leather at an excellent price. Thank you Daniel for another great deal. I bring the gun home and did a detail strip for cleaning, etc. All went well until I put the manual safety spring back in. After two hours of searching for it after it slipped off I gave Ruger a call for a replacement. They are shipping me a new one at no charge and paying for shipping. This is excellent customer service IMHO. I know I don't need the safety but I feel better having it in. Also the CS rep informed me that they are no longer including a cartridge case with their firearms because the two states that required it no longer do.Since I had the box in front of me she was correct. So, I gave her the serial number to find out when the gun was born. It is from June of 2015. Maybe next week after I put the spring in I will take it to the range for function testing and if all goes well add it to my carry rotation after I purchase a box of defensive ammo.
  14. I am pi***ed. This punk who was born in 1969 doesn't have a clue. By the time he was old enough to form a sentence the war was over. What's next the US flag is racist because it offends someone who isn't an American. I have lost a few friends in that war both in combat and after coming home from the side effects of battle. GOD bless all our troops where ever they are, Amen.
  15. Congratulations, from one old fart to another.
  16. Does garbage ring a bell.
  17. I have owned both 9mm and 45acp in the 1911 platform. I had both calibers in GI and commander size guns. The recoil is different IMO. The 45acp is more of a push and the 9mm is more of mussel flip. 9mm ammo is less expensive then 45acp. If you have old hands I would recommend 9mm, if not, go with the 45. If you already have a 9mm you may not want to add another caliber unless you want to. I know I really didn't answer your question because both are excellent calibers in the 1911. Just not for me because of hand problems.
  18. If it were me, I would go with a regular Ruger 22/45 with a threaded barrel, replaceable gripes and rail. IMHO the lite will not be as balanced or may not hold up for the long haul. Also if you go with the Ruger I would highly recommend doing the mods.
  19. I agree never their fault always somebody else's.
  20. I am also diabetic but doctor put me on a diet first to see if it would lower my glucose levels. Next lab blood test is at the end of the month. When I started in May my fasting glucose levels were 144 twice tested. This week I did a home fasting glucose test and it was 110. I so far went from 192lbs in May and as of yesterday I am down to 176lbs. Which for my height and age is normal but want to get down to 170 lbs. I do have high blood pressure so I am taking meds for that. So, I think with proper diet, diabetes can be put off for sometime. I do have to admit I miss some foods but so be it. Life is to short as it is.
  21. I find this very funny about grass. The Federal government says it is illegal to sell, grow use or buy but some states make it legal and the federal government doesn't go after the states. But, the Federal government says gay marriage is legal and will force states that have made it illegal to comply. Just saying
