    F1 DuraBolt

Picked up a F1 Firearms Durabolt on sale a while back. Even on sale it was expensive for a BCG but it was shiny so I bought it. Fast forward to last week where I went to a shooting school and I put 4000-5000 rounds through it. Early in the week I wiped it off once with a rag and besides applying CLP that's all the maintenance I did with the gun. The gun ran flawlessly the whole week running green tip. Took some before and after pictures when I cleaned it. I only used a rag for the entire BCG except for the neck of the bolt which required the use of a nylon brush to get all the carbon off. Is it worth $300?....that's up to you to decide. I like it, it ran great for me, and clean up was a breeze. But I probably wont pick one up again unless I find one in the $200 range.
  2. Got my omega 9k out of jail the other day and now my mpx is complete. This thing is a blast to shoot
  3. picked up a rcbs 505 on sale at palmetto state. didn't want to go the beam route but the price was too good to pass up. i'll most likely get the chargemaster as well later down the road. thanks for all the input
  4. In the market for a new digital scale. I've been using el cheapos for the last few years and tossing them when they stop holding a zero. My latest is a pocket sized made by Frankford Arsenal. I'm looking for something easy to use and can be trusted for under the $150 mark. What are your recommendations? Thanks for the help.
  5. Try a safariland holster. if you order from holsterops.com it will ship much faster than ordering direct https://holsterops.com/collections/duty/products/safariland-7ts-als-holster-with-qls-19
  6. I have the large larue bag and couldn't be happier with it. built like a tank and made in 'merica. I used to carry 2 bags....one for guns and gear and the other for ammo. this handles both and I can carry 6 pistols in the side pockets if I need to. the website says 4 but the way the side pockets are set up there is room for 3 on each side. http://www.larue.com/larue-range-bag
  7. I actually won a 16" and for that price I love it. I have an Omega 9K in jail and my form 1 has been submitted. I pretty much agree with LawVol. The trigger is and the weight in the front are my biggest gripes. But when it gets converted to a 5" barrel it should take care of that issue and I already swapped the trigger out. The intended purpose should dictate the route you take for the butt stock. Mine came with the collapsible stock and getting a proper cheek weld/sight alignment is a little awkward. Running drills with it takes some getting used to. I'm considering getting a different stock but that will be later down the road. One more thing to consider is the price of magazines. $60 a piece is steep in my book.
  8. Yeah its a 16".  Not sure why they made this variant in that length.  I would rather it be 18".
  9. I was lucky enough to snag this little fella. Just need some warmer days now.
  10.   Trijicon recently released the MRO with a pretty good price point.  Sub $500 on amazon.    Great job on the build....how much does it weigh?
  11. If youre fed/mil then leupold should be a serious option.  for an all around rifle I would go with a quality 1x6/1x8.  you can be almost as fast with a 1x6 as you can be with a red dot and you have the ability to shoot with a better degree of accuracy on distance.
  12. I've been debating on doing this myself.  Looks like Griffin made a can to do just that.   http://www.griffinarmament.com/Spartan-3-Silencer-p/gasp3.htm   Keep us posted if you decide to do it
  13. Called FN yesterday and they are waiting on parts from the factory.    I'll have to say that I am not too thrilled with the customer service from them to this point.  I've sent  firearms back to HK, Springfield, and Larue who all paid for shipping and had it back to me within a week of them getting the gun in their hands.  Their CS reps were extremely respectful and apologetic.    FN...not so much.  After speaking with them initially I had to bring up the subject of warranty.  The response I got was less than warm but the rep said to mail it in and they would see what they could do about it.  They've had my rifle since 14 November and I haven't even gotten a confirmation email like their websites states I should.  They wont tell me what happened, what exactly they are replacing, or speak to the armorer.  This last phone call they told me that they build parts in the factory in batches and will get to my part eventually.    I'd say pretty piss poor customer service to this point.  This is a first for me with a major manufacturer.   To the OP....sorry for hijacking your post
  14. After about 10 years my benchmade AFO II broke. Well that's not exactly a true statement....the springs broke and its no longer an auto knife. But its time for a change. I'd like to have a fixed blade for every day use but I cant find one that I like. I want a knife that's around 6"-7" overall with a drop point blade in the 3" range. I'd like the handle to be slightly curved, slim, and not made of wood. The CRKT SPEW would be almost perfect except for the blade. Cant really seem to find one on the internets so I'm turning to you guys to help me out. Looking for a good looking working knife that will cut some boxes, clean my fingernails, dress a deer, and if I need it to, help me stab my way out of a jam. Leaning towards a ESEE IZULA II but not sure. Havent been able to find a local dealer to get my hands on one. Please advise!
  15. Nice!  Only bad thing is that if you miss you don't have any excuses
  16. It passed!!   http://www.thetruthaboutguns.com/2015/11/foghorn/breaking-obamau-s-army-1911s/   Now I'm wondering what their prices are going to be.
  17. I've had my 17 for about a year now and never had any issues. Upgraded the grip, charging handle, muzzle brake, and trigger group. She ran just fine until last week I took her out to try out some longer distance shooting. Day started off great and I was pinging steel at 750 yards somewhat consistently with a 1x4 scope. Merica! After I shot up all of my match grade ammo (168gr SMK) I switched over to some M80 linked that we had an absurd amount of. On the 26th round of M80 (126 total round count) my bolt locked to the rear. Upon further inspection I discovered that the bolt wasn't locked and my magazine wasn't empty. But I was having issues with the movement of the bolt carrier. So I took off the lower receiver and saw this situation Pretty catastrophic malfunction. So my day was over. The other guys in my group had all ran out of regular ammo and had switched to the M80 ball too. One guy was running an LWRC and the other had a Rem 700 and all three of us had AAC SDN-6 cans. Those jerks shot round after round for a few more hours. Sucked to be me that day. Take this info for what you want. I haven't heard of something like this happening and I don't really know what could have caused the bolt carrier to rupture like it did. Could have been the ammo combined with the suppressor but I doubt it. This happened last week and the rifle is already at FN. I'm waiting to hear what they say about it. I'll let you know if they don't take care of the issue or if they can pin point the problem. Maybe I got a lemon.
  18. Primary Arms is having a 15% off sale on certain items.  Not sure whats all included in on the sale but I know I just got a Geissele Super Scar trigger for $275.  Still expensive as hell but that's as cheap as I've seen them. Never pulled this particular trigger but I have several of their other triggers and I expect nothing but the best from Geissele.    Use promo code HALLOWEEN to get the discount.   I've also noticed that primary arms just came out with a platinum line of rifle scopes.  Japanese glass in a 1x8 for around $1300.  I'm going to have to read up on these because they definitely have my attention.  But I guess that's another post.
  19. great bench.   whenever I want to make something that needs to come apart and back together again wingnuts are my best friend
  20. my form 4 just came back...106 days.  FYI
  21. that trigger has me scratching my head....
  22. looks like you have your bases covered.  didn't want to debate with you, thought you wanted constructive criticism on your kit bag.  either way what you got right now should be more than sufficient for your intentions and then some.  your pack has far more gear than the majority of the public has even thought about collecting for any type of emergency.    hopefully you'll never have a legitimate reason to strap that to your back.
