  1. Tried to PM, said you can’t receive PMs for some reason. Feel free to text me at 8652061100 to arrange a meet. Thanks
  2. All is not lost, I managed to find a couple today at GT Distributors down in Chattanooga. I’d recommend a visit to anyone in the area. Several police trade Glocks and M&P’s under 400 and Sig 1911R for 699. Last time I was there I picked a S&W 4516 and a 351PD for less than 850 out the door. So it seems they haven’t changed as much as the status quo.
  3. Thanks for the replies. It’s the kind of info that helps. Most searches you do lead to enthusiastic black powder guys who may not give some of the weaknesses you can expect. I have seen that Rutgers are regarded as pretty bullet proof, but I really like the aesthetic of the 1851. As y’all mentioned the lack of a top strap always struck me as a possible structural weakness. Thanks again for the input.
  4. Maybe just put the thumb hole back on for pics. Worst case scenario, you lose the retainer on the recoil spring. Those are cheap, and I may even have a couple under various work benches. I mean, I understand the pride in ownership of an FAL, but you may be underestimating the fun of explaining to friends at the range that it’s not a Daewoo.
  5. What engine code is she? I’ve got an S-code fastback I got the day after I turned 16. She’s in need of restoration, but I have a sideoiler to replace the 390 when I’m full retired.
  6. I dunno, the original picture has a certain charm. You still got all the parts? If it’s not too much trouble can you put it back and take a few more pics?
  7. If it makes you feel any better, I’ve seen $400 hipoint carbines over the last week. If I told you 5 years ago you could buy a carbine for just over double what a hipoint cost, you’d be pretty stoked.
  8. Anyone into these guys? I’ve been researching a little, 1851, 1858, 1860 platforms. Everyone seems to be down on stock, Uberti, EMF Oldsouth, Midway, Basspro etc. If you’re into old smokewagons and have a trail, let’s hear about them.
  9. It’s pretty bad everywhere I’ve looked. Even the shops I usually frequent, and like, are pretty out there right now. Over the last week, I’ve probably been in 10 spots, and haven’t purchased anything. Priced a gun at $1541 after TTT today, when I offered 1500 cash they said no. Left it behind on principle.
  10. You should have never signed H&K prenup that forbids Gunkote. Hear they have a commando squad that replaces them with hi points while you sleep.
  11. Still waiting on my SA 35. If I come across one I’ll probably cancel my order from LGS.
  12. Anything with a steel frame will likely increase over time. 1st, 2nd and 3rd Gen Smith and Wessons are increasing pretty steadily. You can still get some surplus handguns like Star, CZ and Makarov variants at reasonable prices. They may not seem like much now, but I remember $500 US properties and more direct comparison $69 SKS. Key seems to be, if they don’t make it, or can’t import it, they will go up.
  13. Starting to get a bad feeling they sent me XD mags or something. Guess I’ll have to open one up and actually look at it. Edit: OK, how silly is it the wrapper is “Made in Croatia” but the contents are made in Italy?
  14. Received my mags today. Gun may be made in USA but mags are from Croatia. Anywho, I ordered one at local gun store in Harriman. Said distributor warned him it may be 3 to 6 months, but locked it in at $580.
  15. I’ve seen prices as low as 629, but listed as out of stock. The magazines are available via the Springfield website. Even if there is a delay getting the gun,I haven’t seen 15 round mecgars in stock for a while so might want to purchase a couple. I’m old and have never paid this much for a hipower, but times change. Good luck hunting fellas, I see a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World heading our way.
