1. Seems like after Ava was born the days have gotten shorter. I haven't gotten around to comparing different ammunition once I figured out the consistency issue with my upper. But I'v been shooting the Thunderbolts with very good results. Mostly shooting 35-50 yards at spinning targets and out of date canned food. I did purchase a Spikes lower to build for my upper. I have a ACS-L stock ordered for it and still have to order a good rimfire scope.
2. Thanks for the reply. I will pick up some PPU and give it a try.
3. Someone let me know if they see a Black Friday sale on gun safes. Looking for one that holds 40+.
4. That's funny. How much money will the government spend placing blame or pointing fingers at others for this, yet another blunder by today's leaders. For what they have already spent for finger pointing they could have fixed the site or built a new one threefold.
5. PSA is where I ordered the PMC. I wasn't sure about the reputation of the Serbian people or the quality of there NATO ammo when I placed the order. I'v had good luck with PMC in the past. Sorry not meaning to hijack this thread. But is the Serbian ammo worth buying? What was the cost of 7.62x51 per round last year? Before retard pricing started.
6. Did some swapping around this morning. Put my CTR stock on it.
7. Got home put the Nikon on it did gave the gun a quick safety check over. Didn't have my range finder but do know in fact it was just over 100 yards. Sitting on a small stool , gun propped across my 4wheeler seat with wheeler idling at time of these five shoots. . The rifle is well built and has a nice fit and finish. It came with 3 20 round Gen 3 mags which is nice and was able to order 7 more with relative ease at not bad pricing. I have a lower parts kit with Magpul ASC-L stock that I'm using for a .22lr build but I think the stock may find its way onto the SR. The trigger has a heavy pull but is crisp and has no free pull. I removed the Samson flip up battle sights from the SR and put them on my .556 ( nice sights) that at 100 yards will give a man lead poisoning. Shooting price per round can add up quickly compared to the 5.56 but the extra power will leave you smiling every time. What's a good price on brass cases 308 FMJ's? I ordered some PMC Bronze @ .64¢ a round shipped. Not sure if that was good or Bad.
8. I ordered one from Whittakers yesterday afternoon and was told I got the last one. But before speaking with the guy that took my order another guy told me they didn't have any.. Price vs features? Im not sure I could build a piston gun as nice for what the total cost will be after shipping, title and license.. No Docking fees.. Im a fan of piston weapons and the balance of this rifle is very nice, IMO. What looks like a Samson free float hand guard and flip up sights, Hogue grip, 3-20 Rd Gen 3 Pmags (21.00 a piece shipped, I ordered a few more) and a nice soft case with Mag pockets, a person will spend more money building a piston gun even if he or she could find all the parts before the next election when President Hillary Clinton tries her hand at banning our sporting rifles. The bad side would by trigger pull and the need for a nicer stock (more want than need).. Although crisp the pull is heavy for my taste and will change out the stock.. A lot of back and forth, not only here but on other forums about the SR762 being on the pricier side of AR10 variations. My opinion on this is AR10 come in 3 price ranges.. The $1000.00 range (Sportical), $1500.00 range (LAR-8, SR762, Sigs) and the $2000+ range (POF, Wilson, matching billet receivers).
9. May need a few more years before shes ready for the S12.
10. Well, It showed up.. Also got my Black Dog magazines in today from 44Mag.com..
11. Unless this in a hoax, looks like it should be here the 3rd. I agree that the whole ammo contract deal with the government is nothing less than shitty. Someone explain how they continue to stay in business with such a tainted background and business practice.. Did the government just overlook the incident as they do so many times or did they file suit against Botach? Seems to me that pulling one over on Uncle Sam would be less than tolerated..
12. Maybe instead of a "What a Deal" thread, TGO needs a "Don't Fuck With Them" thread...
13. Tracking number has been issued and item is marked to be shipped today..
14. Well shit, I guess as the old saying goes.. If it looks too good to be true, it probably is.. Thanks for the information. Guess I will be giving them a call today and ask about availability on this mount. I should had went with my first instinct when I saw they are located in California..
15. I can see how this would be aggravating.. I'lll give them a few days and see how it goes. Thanks for the info..
16. What sort of problems did you experience with them
17. I've been on a quest the past few days in search of another P.E.R.P. mount. I was looking for a 1" w/ quick disconnect but at this price I settled for the original style and invested the savings in a few more Black Dog magazines. I feel like such a thrifty shopper that my wife would even be proud of me ( I sure hope shes not home when they arrive in the mail ). So, figured I would pass this along to some of yall that truly understand this addiction that I struggle with daily. Free standard shipping and use the promo code '10off' for a total of $61.18. http://www.botachtactical.com/buarmo.html   Wasn't real sure what to post this under. Its not really a discussion about the product. I just like passing along deals when I find them.   Recon we could get a dedicated thread for posting shooting related deals in the effort to share our findings with others? I know there are sites where users can post such deals and Im not trying to turn TGO into another such site. Maybe set the thread up as another perk for becoming a benefactor? Any thoughts on this matter?
18. I'm still in..
19. Man it was a relief to me also. I was at the bottom of the shit to try list.   I thought that myself. I checked a dozen times if once to insure things were tight. I changed the scope, took the mounts off twice, checked for loose screws, tried twisting the scope in the rings, every thing seemed tight. If the P.E.R.P. didnt help it was going to be phone call time.    Does the quick release lock good and tight? I was leaning towards purchasing one to go back on my 5.56.
20. Scope mount, scope mount, scope mount.. Did I mention scope mount? Took the P.E.R.P. off my 5.56 and BINGO. Due to limited time I didn't take pictures or compare grouping between ammo brands but with Winchester M22's I was able to take all the fresh paint off our 3 diameter spinning steel target at 50 yards and the softball didn't stand a chance . I will get back  to the range soon and post pictures of 5 rd groups..
21. Its not even consistent. I believe I can hold a better pattern with my Saiga 12 at 50 yards. The only thing other than a factory issue would be my scope rings, thats why Im going to try my 5.56 setup. I know its true.
22. Quick update.. It doesn't look good for the home team.. At 50 yards with 8 variations of ammo it was less than desired performance.. I didn't take pictures, but with iron sights on my 7.62 Saiga I hold better 5 round groups at 50 yards. I'm giving it one more chance tomorrow with the optic and mount that's currently on my 5.56 upper. I don't want to degrade the setup without exhausting all possibilities, but today was very frustrating. I'm at a loss.
23. Thanks OS..   I tore the rifle down, cleaned and checked everything for wear and alignment. Everything seemed to be alright.. The barrel nut was a little loose and could be a contributing factor along with operator error.     I have done some adjusting in the optic department. I took my Nikon off and replaced it with the BSA thats been on my Viper. I received my mini-mags and Remington Vipers from Cabelas yesterday. Also have some Federal Auto-Match, Eley Target and another brand, that escapes me at the moment to try. Taking a box of Aguila subsonic back for picture purposes. 5 shots grouped well at 50 yards but the rifle functioned as a single shot.    Anyone shooting a bolt action 22lr w/ match barrel? If so, what ammo gives the best results? The lower velocity round seemed to be a winner but the low recoil is the devil.           Going to our range today and will post my findings tonight.
24. I have more variations to run down the pipe and will keep this updated. I did shot some subsonic Aguila 38gr sunday at 50 yards with all five shots grouping really well. The trouble was it didn't have enough energy to fully cycle after the shot. I've been looking local for match ammo but pickings are slim. I do have some Eley Target to try. I too was expecting better groups but at the defense of the upper, it was getting dark and I was shooting off my 4wheeler. I have a feeling that the barrel is a bit more accurate than the person holding it.   Actually, I was wanting some info on how well other uppers are grouping and what kind of ammo folks are running in them.. Its  going to take a little time but I will figure this deal out... All info is greatly appreciated..
25. Alright, here is what I have so far. This was at 25 yards off sandbags and had calm winds. Remington Golden Bullets (value pack) Winchester Copper Plated Hollow Point, 36 gr Winchester M22 40 gr. Remington Thunderbolts I thought the Thunderbolt group had to be pure luck so I tried them again.. I have more to test but this is what I have so far..
