  1. Here's a long shot... do you know a pilot?  Get some AvGas!  100 octane, ethanol free, but it's not cheap. (about $4.75/gal) [emoji14]

I remember years ago when I lived in Illinois, my local Amoco station sold racing fuel (102 octane, lead) it was about 3x the price of reg unleaded but it made a world of difference in my old 65 Mercury!

Where I grew up was about 15 minutes from a dirt race track. The gas station nearest to it sold 101 (I believe) octane racing fuel. In high school when me and my buddies got paid we would always go get a few gallons to feed the mighty worn out old 350 V8's we had in our trucks. Boy, we thought we were something lol

  2. FYI - Interstate Arms (IAC)/H&R are virtually the same thing. IAC has better furniture and sight options. Here's what i did with my current IAC Hawk 982. Hogue 12" LOP stock, side saddle, Choate 870 +2 mag extension and 870 Choate HG. Altogether, ran me under $200.

What finish is that? I really wish mine had peep sights, even though I know conventional wisdom is that a bead is good enough for anything but slugs
  3. While I agree with your sentiment, here are my thoughts.

    1) We generally don't have "mass stabbings". While murder is murder, those on the anti side do not see it that way. They see "gun violence", nothing else really matters to them.

    2) Knives are not the greatest threat to an oppressive government.

  4. It is the kak buffer tube that comes in the shockwave kit. I highly recommend it. It has several pre drilled dimples for the set screw to lock down into so it is secure and they also help with alignment to make sure the blade is straight.

Echo. I was skeptical of the set screw staying in place, but so far it has been golden.

  5. What are you using for magazines?  I've thought about a 10mm AR, but the lack of larger mags stopped me.  I've heard that M3 Grease Gun mags work with 10mm. Anyone know for certain?

Not trying to speak for him but since he said he's using a glock cut bcg, the only reason to run one of those is for glock mags.
  6. My suggestion, which is what I'm running right now, would be to use this buffer + Wolff xp buffer spring. Reasoning is the buffer itself is longer which does away with the need for spacers and such when using a regular carbine buffer...so no broken bolt catches. Also, it's heavier, which you'll need in a 10mm

If not it, I would run their "T" version, which is even heavier.

  7. I bought a H&R about 2 years ago from Buds when they were $92 shipped. I've beat on that thing and it's never let me down.

We have several 870's (10 or so), and I prefer my H&R to them.

  8. First off, what gas length is your barrel? It's possible you're so over gassed that the bolt is being pushed away with so much force the extractor can't grab, no mater what spring is in there. I'd do the BCM upgrade regardless, just because to me it's cheap insurance. Otherwise, if you're over gassed you need an adjustable gas block. Don't even fiddle with heavier buffers, springs, etc.

  9. And you wonder why they are pissed off and feel like society is targeting them unfairly with violence.  And you also wonder why people portray gun owners as a bunch of overly aggressive douchebags.

Did you really just claim that society is unfairly "targeting" a group of people that are standing in the middle of the street impeding traffic, actively drawing attention to and making themselves targets for criticism and/or violence? Thanks, I needed a laugh.

  10. Sure. I'm old enough to remember a Mayberry type police force in my small hometown, complete with officers who wore a tie instead of bdu's. You could actually have a conversation with these gentlemen, and knew them by name. People respected them because they earned it. This is a far cry from what one encounters on the street today. I see an us versus them mentality among today's officers that wasn't always present.

I guess in my parts the only time I see any type of gear is in a SWAT situation.

To your point, I suppose I would ask you if you believed these "encounters" on the street you speak of aren't the same because of a decay in morality and respect in our society, and therefore less respect for authority, or because of this "militarization"?
I can't for a second believe that policing now is what it was 60 years ago.
  11. This discussion is part of the problem IMO. Mixing two truths in an un truthful bowl. The militarization of the police is a problem, and needs top be discussed and fixed. The culture of no accountability or discipline in our communities is a problem and needs to be fixed.

However, these two items are not directly linked or related. They do cross each other from time to time, but they are not direct cause and/ effects. The raw statistics prove that time and again.

The problem is a media and leadership that has used the two problems by pitting them against each other. The beauty of the tactic is, since they aren't related, they can't be resolved together. That creates a chaotic and never ending pitting of grips against each other that can only escalate. The only winner will be the federal government who will gain more and more control and never solve anything.

    Well stated.

Just out of curiosity, can one of you share with me what your idea of "militarization" is? Are you referring to tactics used, gear worn, what exactly? I mean, I feel like I hear that term tossed around, but I don't think I've ever had someone define it. In their opinion, of course.

  12. I'm kinda surprised at some of the responses in this thread. These officers were targeted, simply because they were officers.
Like Omega said above, are there bad cops? Certainly. Just like there's bad nurses, lawyers, soldiers, whatever. But for some of you to basically imply that this crap is justified because of some encounter you had with a policeman with little man syndrome, or because of the questionable actions of a few officers blasted all over the media is beyond absurd.

    Damn shame

  13. Well I have to say, I'm very pleased with my decision to build an AR in this caliber. So far I only have a little over 250 rounds through the gun but it's been flawless, and surprisingly hasn't gotten near as dirty as I imagined it would. I'll put a scope on it around Christmas and shoot some groups, but for now I'm just pleased that it's stupid easy to hit a 8" steel plate consistently at around 125 yards with irons. This magazine has also been reliable, it's a newly released multi caliber magazine, and holds 25 rounds of 7.62x39. I've also been using the newest CPD 30 round magazines with great luck.
