  1. Thanks Dave, sorry for the slow reply. This has been a horrible summer for the Mrs. and I. I am going to try and get to Haynes Bottom to look around, hopefully in the next 2 or 3 weeks if the wife is back on her feet.
  2. Thanks fellas. I don't have dogs, and I don't mind walking for an hour or two.
  3. I have been looking for a good spot to hunt the wascally wabbit. I have been to Cheatham WMA a few times, but no real action. Any suggestions? I have been thinking of trying LBL or Cross Creeks.
  4. Fantastic post Whiskey!! FYI: Lyme disease is no joke. I put a passanger on one of my flights, 28yr old woman with a hubby and 5 yr old son. She was unable to walk, get herself to the bathroom etc due to lyme disease. Please take this seriously if you are outdoors as much as most of us are.
  5. Ok, so a delayed end to this story. I was called on July 25, to tell me my gun was finally in. I called Sat am, July 26th, and was told they do not have it?!? After a couple of phone calls, it was determined that, in fact, it was in and I could come pick it up. Very sad to say my dealings with that retailer have come to an end.   The rifle shoots great, and still likes Federal ammo. I still have some work to do with it, as I am not the most proficient rifleman around. I can tell you, at 100 yards, I can keep groups at 1 inch and less. But again, I have some work to do on my mechanics to become a more consistant shooter.
  6. I bought a Marlin XT-22m last Dec.. I love it! First time to the range, a buddy had his brand new Savage out also. (He bought the Savage when he heard I bought the Marlin)...There were 4 of us shooting, the other 3 are very experienced with firearms. All I heard while they shot the Savage was a lot of cussing. There was a problem with the mags, when the bolt was opened to load the chamber, all rounds came flying out and onto the table.   The Marlin shot flawless.   Best part, the gun was $129 at Walmart in Whitehouse. I tried to buy it from a family run gun shop, but they were not interested in helping me with the purchase. A second gunshop, up in Springfield, actually suggested the Marlin over the Savage in 22mag. He said if I wanted a 17HMR, he would def go Savage though. They could order the Marlin at $169. Either way, your out the door under $200.
  7. Yeahhhh, I wish I could blame the anti-Dbaggers. This time, it is not them. This guy is very disappointed and let down at this point, but this is one of those things I guess?
  8. Yep, guess who STILL does not have a rifle? Yep.....This guy! AWESOME!
  9. Looks like Ruger is replacing my rifle, new .270 comming my way! Thanks to Metalhead and G&L for all your help man!
  10.     Me either, but that is a conversation for another time.

Your fine RC3....Glock guys get their feelings hurt easier because it drains ones emmotions to spend that kind of jack on a plastic weapon....  jk kids....hahaha?
  12. I used the email method with Remington a few years ago, but apparently UPS will not allow this anymore?
  13. No sir. UPS now issues the tracking number when they come to pick up the weapon. Since I let G&L ship it back for me, they would have the tracking number. I have talked to those folks, but they are unable to give me a tracking number for some reason?
  14. Yeah, I aggree 10-ring. I think Ruger is a great company, and I have absolutely no beef with them!

    Ruger American 308

I have a 270 in for repair on a sticky bolt problem. All I have read about the 308 is great. If they need to replace my rifle, I may go to the 308.   John

If you get the Sig or GSG 1911-22, I would strongly suggest looking here as well..............http://www.cwaccessories.com/
  17. I normally get those innitial harmonics from my 270 by bounceing a brick off the rifle while it is in a vice. Then, I remove the cow barrel and repeat with the bull barrel. This way I have 2 perfectly broken in barrels that are in perfect harmony, like 2 part harmony if you will!
  18. Man, I feel your pain....litterally! I have had 3 shoulder surgeries, and it wasn't fun at all for the first 3 or 4 weeks after. Now, it is awesome. I still get some pain every now and again, but not like before. If I may, there is a surgeon with Summit or Premier ortho. Dr.Sean Kaminsky......http://www.healthgrades.com/physician/dr-sean-kaminsky-3ff8r.   This dude was awesome!! If this is the route you need to go, I would def. talk to him.   John

    Gun dealers in TN?

Good luck Cyn., iffin ya want, there is a Bass Pro 4 miles from the Nashville airport. I saw some fellas in there getting their pictures taken with a S&W 500. I felt so bad for em, just a picture.
  20. I have a American in 270. I had to send it back for a bad sticky bolt issue. I just posted info on that today. Just be sure to purchase it from a shop that actually gives a crap about it's customers.

    Dogs Barking

Our dog did not bark incessantly. On occasion he would let one fly if some one was in the yard, but he would normally just look at me as if to ask..."can I whip his #$%"?.
  22. So the wife bought me a NIB American in 270, as requested. This was my Christmas 2012 gift. I didn't ge to shoot the rifle much, but the shooting I did do made me un happy. The bolt on the rifle was getting stuck, and I could not extract the spent cartridge. I thought it may have been ammo choice, so when I was able to get to the range, I had several different brands of ammo, but kept them all at the 130grain wt. After a quick googling back in April of 2014, I found that I was not the only person to have this issue. I figured I would have to ship the gun back, so I went to the store I originally purchased the rifle from, in Hendersonville, Tn., to ask for a box to use for shipping. I told them of my problems with the rifle, and was met with a blank, unconcerned look. I was given a box to ship the rifel, a huge box, but a box no the less. I contacted Ruger, and was given an RMA, but then found out that UPS will only pick up from the house, and does not give a specific pickup time...ie: I would have to wait at home until they came to get the package. I was told to contact the store of purchase, and they should be able to ship the gun for me.........and so it begins (or continues depending on how you read about the box). On Tue. May 27th, I brought the rifle, unboxed, to the affiliate store up in Greenbrier, Tn., since the store of purchase told me over the phone that they could not ship the rifle for me. I was given a receipt for the rifle, and was told that it will be shipped. Now, 2 weeks later, said store does not have my rifle. I cannot get any shipping info from them for the nice lady in charge of such things is not "in" today. She was not in yesterday, or the day I dropped the rifle off. I called Ruger, and they do not have my rifle. I spoke with Mark at Ruger, and he called the Greenbrier store, and called me back with no other information other than, he can understand my frustration with the store employees. I called the store of purchase, and left a message for the owner to please call me with any info they have with regards to my rifle. That was 5 hrs ago.   Soooooooooooooo, does anyone have any suggestions as to where I should go from here? Any one else have this type of experience with getting a gun repaired by the manufacturer?   Thanks John

    Ruger American

The wife bought me the American in .270. I am planning on heading to CHMR tomorrow to give it a try. I put a Bushnell Banner 3-9x40 on top.
  24. I hope you catch those sorry DB's! This is the kind of crap that ruins it for the rest of us who are responsible. PS: I just checked out your page, and got a few good chuckles...thanks for that since the world is about to end!

    Varmints

The fee for a hunting license is pretty cheap here in Tn., and it goes back into helping manage the areas that we all hunt and fish. Rim fire is more than enough for "pests", .22, .22wmr etc., especially with the high velocity 40gr rounds available.
