I truly appreciate all of your responses and suggestions. This is a very difficult time for us right now and we both agree if I can get procession of it by him shipping it would be a better thing for us. I actually got this handgun for him when he graduated OCS, so it is a very sentimental thing for me. I asked him about storing it on base, but he responded " Really don't want to do that, I might not get back there." I will call my local dealer tomorrow and ask for any suggestions they may have.   Thanks Guys!!!   Z

First off, if this is in the wrong place mods, my apologies. Question: My son is currently a Marine officer in 29 Palms, California. It is looking like he will be deployed in the very near future. He has a handgun that I purchased for him as a gift, and unfortunately he will not be able to come home and leave it here while out of country. It is my understanding he can ship the firearm from a dealer in California to my dealer here so I can take possession and safe keep while he is deployed. Vandy has an outstanding program for children with diabetes. I am an RN and work in Disease Management. I know several folks over there and they are indeed outstanding. I am sure you guys are in the "honeymoon stage" right now, but it is really good to hear your are being proactive and getting the support you need. Your right as far as the pump, he will make that decision, it just amazes me the technology advances in the treatment of diabetes in the last 20 years. A couple of suggestions, in case you have not already done this. 1. Look at your health insurance policy to see what may be available for you and your child, such as diabetic educations classes. Some policies will pay for this service. Your policy may also have benefits available for Disease Management Program. This type of program is very beneficial. If you have these benefits, talk to your physician about enrolling into these programs. 2. Look at some of the sites available on the internet. Diabetes.org is the ADA national site. Has some really good information available and is geared towards newly diagnosed diabetics. Has some interactive activities geared for young folks. 3. Ask questions. Ask questions. Ask questions. You know more about your child than anyone else. Do not be afraid to ask questions. I would also suggest your child being evaluated by an Endocrinologist, if you have already not done this. 4. For a child, an insulin pump is the best way to go, if there are no other issues. It will make adjustments in the insulin based on food intake and activity. They are very expensive, so you will need to see if you have benefits for this.... Z

This election has truly polarized us. Republicans versus the Democrats; Conservatives versus the Liberals. But please do not forget because of our wonderful country and the constitution, we have a right to voice our opinion and agree to disagree. Yes, we are in a bit of a mess right now, but we Americans have and will pull together and do the right thing. I do feel that "Political Correctness" has eroded our society to a certain degree, but that is an opinion. What other nation on the face of the earth would allow for us to disagree with our leaders and allow for dissent without fear of retribution. It is because we have redress through the ballot box we can change things. To the owner of this message board. Thank you for allowing an avenue for all of us to express our views and opinions. I have read many different opinions and views on this board and I cherish the ability to be able to do this. It is clear that all of you are patriots and love your country very deeply as do I.
