I have been told but have not checked it out that if you carry the antique plate in your car you can run with year of manufacture plate without registering the plate. I was told by the same person that it can be from any state as long as the year matches the car. He runs Texas plates on a couple of his cars that he bought in Texas and has never been stoped. I found a place that makes the reproduction plates, even the earlier TN shaped ones and I run them on the fronts of my old cars. One of my old trucks that isn't back on the road yet has Ohio truck plates on it, that is where I bought it and real 1947 TN plates are very expensive, I plan to try it with the antique plates in the cab. I do run regular plates on my 1950 truck because I want to drive when I want to and where I want. I draw a lot of attention when I pick up a load at Lowe's. It has one of the repo plates on the front.
