  1. I tell you there is so much hand wringing going on over this it boggles the mind. On a board for hiking the smokies there was a very lenghty debate over carrying in the NP and it is really pathetic of the mind set of some people concerning carrying and just guns in general.
  2. Here is a poll that the anti's are ahead on. Thought I would stick it in here and let everyone place their vote. Gun-Toting Visitors Heading to National Parks - AOL News
  3. Thanks for the info. I knew that a personal conversation could be recorded but was informed a few years ago that a recorded telephone conversation would not hold in court. This would have been real nice to have used 10 years ago,and thats all I'm gonna say about it. After further reading and thinking about things, the 3rd party clause is the key to the telephone recording, thus me being informed of not being able to use the recording in court.
  4. I thought recorded telephone calls could not be used in court? Only those that are recorded in person with only one party aware of the recording process, mainly me being the knowing person.
  5. I have not seen any injuction anywhere or a matter of fact change of law. So has anyone found out what the current law is other than be careful? This really stinks but come next year I think that things will be better. Just found the link that states the law is on hold until Jan.? What a cluster.......
  6. I understand the premise for protesting the gun slash circle sign, but that is not a legal sign in TN.. Depending on how I felt I probably would have made my purchase after finding the sign and then informed the manager of my intentions without telling them about improper signage. I would for sure complain about having the phone hung up on me. Just my thoughts.
  7. I say lets just leave it and see how it pans out. Too many inquires may lead to the wrong action being taken. Just my two cents.
  8. That is exactly what I am looking for. I tried explaining HCP vs. CCP and this person just doesn't get it. Thanks for the speeeedy replies!
  9. The wife and I have been having a heated discussion with one of her co-workers about open carry being legal. I remember a link with the AG's thoughts on this and now I can't seem to find it. We just can't get the co-worker to understand that there is no law against open carry because she was told that the HCP was for concealed carry only. Thanks in advance if anyone can help me find the link.
  10. Hit this one, we are losing! Read it carefully cause I suspect some are misreading the question. 11. NewsChannel 5 Poll Do you think a judge should stop the guns-in-restaurants bill from going into effect Tuesday, July 14, 2009? Yes No Other Thank you for participating in our poll. Here are the results so far. Yes 48% No 52% Other 0%
  12. Well if I get checked this weekend I may just be the test case.
  13. Saw that oil thread on the wrangler forum. I have been using Castrol 10w-30 since 1989 on my Chevy K1500, 218,000 miles and counting with no problems and I change oil at the 5,000 mile mark. Both Jeeps get the same plan, Drove a re-ringed 283 years ago 100,000 before I sold it and had no problems with that either. I just don't get the thought of changing oil every 3,000 or 3,500 miles.
  14. T - CALLS NEEDED - PARKS BILL by johnharris » Thu Jun 11, 2009 10:15 am The deadline on vetoing the parks bill is today, June 11. SB 0976 - HB 0716 We have been alerted this morning that the Governor plans to VETO the parks bill unless the bill is recalled by the House and/or the Senate. The governor wants the PARKS bill amended to either remove local parks entirely and/or to flip from the "opt out" standard to an "opt in" standard. The version of the bill that was passed by the legislature opens local parks but allows the local governments to close them by "resolution" - which is bad since it requires no public hearing. However, the governor wants the local parks closed by default and to allow local governments to open them - which most will not do. We believe the Senate will stay on the current language but that the House (principally through sponsor Nicely) is considering recalling the bill. We need calls to all legislators : 1) DO NOT RECALL THE BILL 2) IF THE GOVERNOR WANTS TO VETO IT - Fine but 3) GET A COMMITMENT TO A VETO OVERRIDE!!!! even if we have to extend the session. http://www.capitol.tn.gov/senate/members/ http://www.capitol.tn.gov/house/members/ I checked with the NRAILA lobbyist for Tennessee and this is the message that the NRA will be sending out - SIGN IT OR WE WILL OVERRIDE AGAIN!!! 15. Just called his office and the newspaper article is incorrect, it goes to committee on 27 June and the to the commisioner on 17 Aug. Going to call him at home and also may just stop by his house next week. The impression from his secretary is that he is aall for park carry.
  16. I don't think anyone is listeng to him, listen to all the background chatter.
  17. Not sure if this is true or maybe should be in another section, but be wary in the GSMNP. Could be that some rangers watch this and other boards? Copied from another site. "Flat fly n,about 3 weeks ago on the Middle Prong of the Little river I was checked by 2 rangers,I had a daypack on and the 2 rangers rifled through my pack and they kept asking what kind of bait I was using. The reason they gave for looking in my pack was to see if I had any trout in there.I had a 4 inch Mora sheath knife on the hip belt of my pack and they kept asking if I had any more "weapons" on me.I told them I had a pocket knife,a Spyderco Caly 3 with a 3 inch blade. It was also called a weapon by the 2 rangers who had on little street shoes instead of boots on their feet. They had me lay the knife on the ground and sit down away from it while they continued to molest the contents of my pack.My rod was broken down and was leaning against a tree, when they finally left I went to get my rod and noticed the tip was lying on the ground. The next day I pulled the rod out to wipe it down and noticed the tip section was crushed.I do not know if I had stepped on it or they had,but my 20 year old Sage 4711LL was ruined.I took it in to LRO and Paula sent it to Sage to see if it could be repaired but they said they could not make a new tip and offered to send me a new rod for 125 dollars.I could not get the new rod without giving them the old one,too many memories in that rod so I turned the offer down Those two idiots turned a wonderful day into a day that will haunt me for years to come.I will never be searched by their ilk again"
  18. I know that my jeep gets better mileage without the ethanol blend,
  19. She did forward me to Bo Watson's office because she said that he was one of the controlling members on this bill now,(that is what I understood her to say) and I did leave a very lengthy message. I wonder if I'll get a call from anyone?
  20. I called Dale Ford's office and talked with his secretary, she does not know how Ford will vote but said that their is alot of opposition for the restraunt carry bill. She was personally against the parks carry due to kids being in the area and would not let me give my opinon on that matter. I feel that these bills will fail again this year.
  21. Any thing that is found in the National Park is considerd park property and should not be removed. This includes rocks in the creeks and rivers, don't get caught. I posed this question to a ranger last fall and he said that if an elk shed is found, do not touch it and report the find at the nearest ranger station.
  22. Sounds like it will fail due to misunderstanding.
  23. Some of these guys need to actually read the bill before they start asking questions and twisting statements so that it can be discussed at a later date. Loaded long guns in a vehicle for instance.
  24. We visit Gburg quite often and I have never had any problems with open or conceal carry.
