I've decided to build my 1st SBR. With a lot of help from TNRobocop I've got the paperwork to Serpas and the lower back from the engravers. I have to give Paletiger13 props for helping me find a engraver in Middle Tennessee who didn't get scared when I utterred the word AR15. Southren Trophy over on Nolensville Road. Good people to work with, 5 day turn around, reasonable pricing. The upper will be a POF 9.5in upper which is currently build out on a pistol lower...all nice and legal. Spikes lower, DPMS parts kit, Magpul CTR stock kit from Spikes, in black with their ST-T2 buffer upgrade and a Surefire M900 vertical foregrip. I had Southren Trophy do some laser engraving while they had my lower: NOTE: the NFA Specific engraving has already been alumablack'ed in these pics, so they don't show very well. They are above the selector hole Closeup: Now...as soon as Serpas gets me my paperwork back, I come up with 200.00, and the NFA Branch deems me worthy, I can complete the build and have fun. Hopefully CIS will run a DEFENSIVE CARBINE II class in Nov/Dec that I can take with my new baby

HB1796/SB1610 Tennessee Firearms Freedom Act
dunndw replied to Motasyco's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Looking at the website it was transmitted to the gov on the 8th of June. PLENTY of time for him to screw it up left on the clock -
That's my concern. Now that so much has been make of it, IF I were a thief, I'd shop the Sunset Grills parking lot everytime. Chances are...you'll get lucky and score a throwaway or two...or something to sell quick on the street. The thugs watch the news...some of them can actually put two and two together. If some joint is posted, then I might find a pistol in one of the cars in the parking lot

Value of a real M-16 unfired
dunndw replied to plottman's topic in National Firearms Act (NFA) Regulated
Since the Firearms Owners' Protection Act of May 19, 1986, ownership of newly manufactured machine guns has been prohibited to civilians. Machine guns which were manufactured prior to the Act's passage are regulated under the National Firearms Act, but those manufactured after the ban cannot ordinarily be sold to or owned by civilians ATF Online - Firearms FAQs -
That was going to be my comment Volz...do we really trust the word of a politician. He was willing to take this ball and run with it...I'd bet he's just hedging his bets. IF the law dept say ...humm...don't know if that'll fly or not...I'd bet he'd push for it to happen. Unless they come out and say don't do it...it's illegal...I bet he'll stay the course and keep trying

Nice work. I'd have to agree with everyone else, CIS defensive carbine would be a good place to start.

I have a airline pilot friend who said it's all in the wording. He was "concerned" I think was the verbase he used after a nasty breakup...not depressed. He said that one word was a quick trip to being grounded. sad we have to worry about stupid things like that. If you need to talk to someone you should be able to without fear of reprisal.

That's my problem. I'm pissed at this idea and I'm afraid I wouldn't be able to hide my growing distain for the entire thing from coloring my language with enough colorful adjectives to make a drunken sailor run screaming into the night. At least in e-mail I can walk away for a minute before and self sensor before hitting send.

My wifes NEW permit has cleared and was ready to mail. MY renewal won't be processed until July. The new permit process is automated, the renewals are all done by hand. I was told to call back 9 July if I havent gotten anything by then they can push mine through, but they have to have the full 90 days to do that. I will say for the amount of work they have on their plate, they are very plesant to speak with on the phone. I'd be a crabass with all of ya'll calling me :-)

I think it's this part: a) No city, county, or metropolitan government shall occupy any part of the field of regulation of the transfer, ownership, possession or transportation of firearms, ammunition or components of firearms or combinations thereof; provided, that the provisions of this section shall be prospective only and shall not affect the validity of any ordinance or resolution lawfully enacted before April 8, 1986.

I've already sent my councilman and charlie e-mails...keep up the pressure ya'll. If the restaurant owners don't live in Davidson county, I don't why people who don't like in Davidson country couldn't express their opinions as well. You might come into Davidson County for dining/entertainment as well so this effects you as well. -

We need to let Charlie know if they DO pass this law...ALL the restaurants will suffer Screw standing outside someplace and protesting. Let all the owners know we will go out of Davidson County to spend our dining dollars. -
The metro council has already passed a non binding resolution against guns in parks, and I've gotted some pretty snide comments in response to a e-mail I sent them so you can bet none of the parks in Davidson Co will allow it, now if they post illegal signage, that's on them

All the ones I've fondled in stores have horrid triggers. Do they smooth out?
