  1. I own both, I shoot both, can't really tell much of a difference between them. I like the two tone stainless/black combo on some of the XDs, but a hard chrome slide on a Glock looks just as nice. XDs have a metal guide rod where Glocks factory piece is super plastic but easily changeable. 6 of one 1/2 dozen of the other in my book
  2. .357 Sig, "Normal" .357, .38 AND .380 were all available @ The Reloaders Bench in Mt Juliet Wednesday.
  3. I wish you all the luck in the world. Now, the fella I inistruct for had a heck of a time getting Sumner county to allow his PRIVATE range, the claimed that the pawn shop range and Gallatin Gun Club were there first and "they were trying to protect existing businesses" of some such BS Took him forever to get it through all the red tape. Be prepared for a fight against you...but stay the course. "Build it and they will come"
  4. No movement on restaurant carry yet?

    FN SCAR?

I fondled one at one of the funshows. The stock seemed...off. I can't put it into words, but it just didn't feel right. I do like the side folder, but I'll wait until 1. the price gets a bit more resaonable 2. They come out with a different color, the current batch looks like it belongs in Goldfinger's safe I believe Franklin sold theirs in about 4 hours. Last I heard Speciality Arms still had one
  6. I agree, the trigger reset on a well built 1911 is truly a thing of pure sex. I'm surprised that it isn't taught more than it is.
  7. Did you happen to see any .45 at the Outpost?
  8. I think they're holding up the flicker of light just so they can see to drive the knife home better. They have no love for gun owners. perhaps I'm a pessimist but I don't trust 'em. They have another motive in not supporting the AWB...this time. I don't know WHAT their motive is, but it isn't anything gun owners will benefit from
  9. Kind of like it was here before....only MUCH worse
  10. So I'm guessing the hot girl on that page is wearing her Hero Gear Joeaflague
  11. IDPA is always a good way to start. Volunteer Gun Club out in Brush creek holds IDPA matches the 2nd and 4th Sunday of each month. If I wasn't trying to kick a nasty case of bronchitis I'd be getting ready to go out today.
  12. +1 for the screw extractor. I've used 'em on 1911 grip screws, seems like Springfield screws are "soft" and I like to change grips alot. Order the screws form Midway, get a extractor and on you're on your way
  13. I took Tunes class when I got my HCP. Don't remember too much. I DO know I saw him stand in front of a class full of students and had them all dry firing AT HIS FRIGGIN HEAD. Now, I haven't been instructing as long at Tune, but if anyone points a gun at any part of my anatomy, even if I handed it to them and KNOW it's unloaded, I'm gonna get pissed. There is no good reason for him to do that. I know he's doing it "so he can see how they're pressing the trigger, blah, blah" but it's stupid and dangerous. I could care less what someone like that thinks of my as a person and/or as a instructor. He's teaching people who most likely know little to nothing about guns that is "OK" to point a unloaded gun at someone and pull the trigger. How many people are shot with unloaded guns every year?
  14. Ive been through the CIS course, it's worth every penny. Actually I keep bugging them to come up with a level II course
  15. That question has been answered by Cav Arms http://www.cavalryarms.com/vids/riflebag-2.wmv
  16. Welcome Tiny... Pinmaster...KNOCK IT OFF SAME SOME FOR THE REST OF US:biglol:
  17. That's because you shoot with the wrong hand:) Now you've gone and got me all interested in (another) 1911...Your ears will be burning once my wife finds out.
  18. nice...too bad they only put on 1/2 a safety :-) What's one of those run a fella...and would it be possible to get it ambi'ed
  19. It would be a 15 second video if Joe ran that way through Manchester :-)
  20. (Bandwagon jumping) HGR has taught several classes, all women, numerous 1st time shooters. We teach the NRA Basic Pistol class, which covers the standard HCP requirements, plus some. Next class is 14 March...still have room in it for a few people. Classes are held on Saturdays in Gallitan.
  21. I have a Spikes 27mm launcher on one of my ARs for zombie control. I'm sure that someone more in the know than I will correct me, but I don't think a civilian can own a launcher and "destructive devices" that it can launch at the same time unless the launcher is registered as a destructive device. I also believe the ATF has listed bean bag rounds, and similar rounds as "destructive" when owned in conjunction with the launcher. My 37mm is a "gas round launcher" with the approiate ALS rounds, both CS and smoke.
  22. You can always learn something...even if it's what NOT to do. I've taken a couple of classes from my counselor and from CIS, and I always come away with something new that I can work into our basic pistol classes. I appreciate the kind words Todd...
  23. I like to think Len and I teach a safe, fun and informational class. I've seen plenty of stupid. When I took the def. carbine class from CIS, one of the better known instructors in the area, always on TV was in the bay next to us. He had the entire class dry firing their pistols at him, so he could see if they were bobbing the gun with the trigger press. Probably about 30 or so people, all at once. I don't know why one of his students hadn't put a round in him yet. I had never wished for a 9mm blank so hard in all my life.

    Laptop set-up?

Not necessarily true. I can still get laptops and desktops with current hardware all running WinXP, and I bet ClutePc can as well. You can't walk into Staples or bestbuy and get'em...but your friendly gun toting computer guys can :-)
