  1. Should be made a felony instead of a misdemeanor.
  2. Stated more simply, "Good dissent advances the cause of liberty, bad dissent retards it."
  3. Agree. I read this to mean that the feds can commandeer every law enforcement official in Tennessee to assist with their confiscation efforts as long as they foot the bill.  Would be much stronger in there were a period (.) after "state" and everything from "unless" forward was stricken from the bill.
  4.   1st mistake . . . . believing anything a BATF agent tells you.
  5. MCSCOTT -- Thanks for the link to the other thread. I hadn't seen it earlier.
  6. OS -- I certainly understand the context, and realize that in the grand scheme of things this guy is a very minor player. I posted it because I was encouraged by the sentiments he expressed and because it gave me a (wishful) hope that we might some day see similar positions taken elsewhere.
  7. I wish some of our elected officials in Tennessee had the stones to make a similar statement! http://www.co.jackson.wi.us/html/district%20attorney/Documents/McDonald%20vs.%20City%20of%20Chicago.pdf
  8. I may be pollyannaish, but aren't all these "laws" that regulate the manner in which firearms are transported (e.g. unloaded, magazine not immediately accessible, etc, etc, etc) in violation of our state constitution, which authorizes the legislature only to regulate the "WEARING" of a firearm? The plain meaning of the word wearing is "the act of having on your person as a covering or adornment." For example, if i were to transport a loaded pistol within the center console of my vehicle without it being affixed to my person, I would not be wearing it, and presumably the legislature shouldn't be able to say a thing about it.
  9. Really wish I could make this, but having a B'day party for my 12-year-old that day. . . . . .dang it!
  10. I just caught the last 1-hour of the discussion, and I think the best we'll get is some type of compromise plan, opting out of some parks but not others. In truth, they'll most likely let the current ordinance prohibiting guns in city parks stand.
  11. My suggestion is to simply save every receipt you receive when dining at a non-posted restaurant. Total them up over a month or so and present them to the manager of the restaurant(s) you avoided (because they were posted) while engaging him/her in conversation about the financial impact his decision to post has had upon his business. Money talks; BS walks.
  12. You can bet Mike Chase will have all his restaurant's posted. Here's a list so you can start planning early to avoid them. http://www.coppercellar.com/coppercorporate/subPage.asp?id=86&pid=65
  13. So, because he DIDN'T use his weapon in self-defense, he is now prohibited from ever using it in self-defense? What a stupid ruling.
  14. I heard that. He essentially said a HCP holder can't carry multiple firearms simultaneously, and that the ONLY one you could carry would be the one you qualified with. I think he even stated that the serial numbers are on file, or some such other nonsense.
  15. http://wapp.capitol.tn.gov/apps/videowrapper/default.aspx?CommID=2 Just click "view event" next to "House Session Monday" Never mind. They just rolled the bill to next Monday.
