  1. Wait until cheap ammunition isn't available. That void will cause our domestic "surplus" to bounce back up like it has in the past during shortages, when it can be found. It will also affect pretty much every other centerfire caliber as well. The neck beards will be buying it all up and selling it out of the backs of their 80's vans like they did with .22 for so long and we haven't fully recovered from that shortage yet. And with all the new shooters coming onboard in the last 3-5 years this will have a MAJOR impact on ammunition availability across the board.
This will affect the firearms industry across the board because people will not want to shoot their guns and guns that people know they can't afford to shoot will not be upgraded or even built or bought. Firearm accessories will loose their luster when the gun they are going on cannot be shot. The cost of attending training classes just went up substantially and for a lot of people it will be out of reach, significantly affecting that aspect of the firearms industry. I guess if you are in the business of selling reloading supplies you are about to hit the boom cycle.
Congress has done nothing to help gun owners since we had the majority and nothing positive has happened since we have had a super majority. I ask again how are they helping us gun owners? How have they hurt us gun owners? Weigh the two, I have and I see nothing positive coming out of Washington. National reciprocity? Never going to happen. HPA or HUSH, never going to happen. At least they could do no harm but they can't even do that because we are also about to loose anything that the ATF determines can increase the rate of fire, not just bump stocks. Congress could end that instantly but they are going to stand idly by as we loose another battle because they do not want to take sides or rock the boat. They would rather stand in the corner and hope no one notices they aren't doing anything rather than stand for something. Look at all the import bans enacted over the years that directly affect gun owners, they could easily lift each and every one but that is NEVER going to happen.
I am not going to lay down and give up but I am not going to support those who say they are my friend when their actions prove otherwise. I just hope there are a lot of independents on the ballot next year.
For all of those who seem to have a problem buying stuff from our "enemy", look around your house. I bet the keyboard you are typing on and the screen you are viewing it on says "Made in China". The cell phone in your pocket, Made in China. The silverware you just ate your meal with, yep, Made in China. And in case you haven't noticed China is just as communist and supplying our enemies with a lot more than these ammunition and gun companies. Russia is not our biggest threat, China is and yet we seem to buy a lot of cheap goods from them.

Bingo. You hit the nail on the head

  2. Hornady is all I have heard of as well for 5.45.
Thing is if there is no more imported ammo, there will be a high demand and therefore more companies will start making it, whether it’s domestic manufacture or from one of our ally countries. You won’t be shooting 7.62 for the same price as .22lr, but it won’t be as expensive as current US brass case is

I guess we will see I hope that domestic 7.62 comes down. I know it will take a while. It's going to be hard on the AK community regardless

  3. I don’t support any restrictions in relation to firearms, BUT
You are shooting communist ammo through communist guns. Since when is it OK to do business with and financially support our countries arch enemy since we became a country ourselves?
We have American made AKs (not as good as Eastern Bloc but that’s why we have ARs) and domestic manufacture 5.45x39 and 7.62x39 ammo. More expensive, yes. But quality usually is.
Anyone that pays attention to politics wasn’t blindsided by this.

Other than Hornady I don't know of anyone who domestically produces 5.45. The thing that concerns me is that if the ammo goes away it will affect everything caliber because the Russians make a lot of calibers other than 7.62 and 5.45 that are imported.

  4. While I am sure there are many reasons this is just politics, etc, I don't have an issue with it.  I know many are single issue people and that's ok, but most of those people are also the same group that talks about buying American, etc, etc.  We are a fickle bunch.  Most American's want everything as cheap as they can get it and then when the cheap things get taken away we complain.
This does not prevent anyone from getting the ammo they need.  It will reduce the amount of super cheap ammo, but ammo will be available.
Depending on who is banned will depend on what ammo is banned. If it's all Russian ammo 5.45 is dead and 7.62 will be extremely expensive. I'll keep my AKs but it'll be harder to shoot them if it happens. I really don't want to pay .30-40 cents a round to shoot.

  5. I've been keeping up with the updates from AKOU and it is a good possibility but we don't know. There are something like 10 sanctions that could be imposed and Cheeto Jesus only has to impose 5 or more. Certain ones wouldn't be that bad for us. 6. Thought yes...decided I want my ugly mug on video...not yet...
Plus it takes a lot to get noticed over all the other channels. Right now I am just fighting to get my site seen at all.
You might want to start a Facebook page and a linked group to help get your message out. Not sure if you do Facebook but I'm in a few groups which I have found to be much better places than 95% of forums. I think that would definitely help get your numbers up on the site.

  7. I've had excellent experiences doing business with Bone Frog Gun Club. Incredibly fast shipping and darn good pricing. I'm currently carrying 147 hr HST fwiw.

Shotgunshooter... I read somewhere that the Pi family is venturing into another ammo business...that could be interweb rattling and wishful thinking. Anyone know?

Pete Jr is starting his own company called defiant ammunitions. I'm on the Facebook page and have watched all his livestreams. Seems very nice and is taking input on his potential product lines. https://defense-training.com/2017/cor-bon-update/

  8. To the OP good luck finding DPX. Corbon is no longer run by the Pi family. Not sure what the company will keep producing. The ammo had been particularly hard to find since I believe Freedom Group acquired Barnes and they couldn't get the all copper bullets. They had just started to produce the copper bullets in house. Are you still wanting an all copper bullet because Gorilla Ammo and Barnes are supposed to make a good one. If you don't want copper go with Speer Gold Dots or Federal HSTs which you can order from SGAmmo.

  9. I really think that they thought they would win the contract hands down, despite not meeting all criteria,  and started production. Then when they lost, realized they had to dump some pistols. Thus the 19X was born. Then again maybe we'll see separate slides available with longer dust covers to convert to a 17 on the 19 front.
They didn't do all the testing. They got through all the pistols but the Glock and sig and then made a decision which was based on cost.

  10. If you're willing to drive a bit. Cruelhand luke (Randy Harris) has an east TN north AL training group that meetsc atva range just over the AL line in warmer weather I think he charges $60 for the day. The subjects vary and I haven't gone to one of these sessions yet but I did take his low light class and I WILL be attending this summer a couple of times. Randy is a great guy and didn't waste time. The class was professional and worth every penny.
Look him up on here by his screen name and send him a pm to get on his email list. He also posts items on TGO in the training forum. Look through his old posts to see what he offers.
Didn't know he did low light...good to know. Guess that's what I plan on taking from him

  11. There's plenty of local training classes around TN. Attend some of them and you'll meet some like minded people real quick. CruelHandLuke is on your side of the state. Good luck on finding people who want to train I'm still working on that myself. Are you looking for any schools? Just curious as to what you're wanting

  12. As usual Glock missed this one. I like Glock but they are going to have to do something else if they want to stay competitive. Nearly every company has some sort of striker fired gun and if Glock doesn't adapt, they will continue to loose market share. If I want a 17 frame, I'll get a 17,34, or 17L and if I want a 19 slide I'll get a 19. It's pretty simple.

Would you mind doing a review of the can? I've only been able to find one good review of it.

  14. I’ve not seen anything from their USA factor for sale.

    What are they waiting for?

BATFE holding them up or something?

I don't think they have anything up and going. I believe that's the problem. I hear they have one of the best booths at shot show but that it's all smoke and mirrors. They jumped on a name and can't back up production which is really sad considering how large demand for quality guns are and the limited number of imported rifles.

  15. Thanks. It is a work in progress. I know I have a lot more to add. Time has been a factor. I thought my new job would leave me some more free, but that has gotten filled up twice over with some other stuff.
I do need to add some medical to E.D.C, I was just trying to keep it pocket stuff in that article. I am working on a larger section. More of a E.D.C. bag idea. Most oeople dont keep a fak in their cargo pocket like I do.
I have looked at lots of other sites, but am not really connected with people there to ask for contributions. I am about to start "advertising" the site around though. So I may drum up some there.
So what did you mean to coverr in Reviews?

Training. I went back and reread the post. It didn't make sense when you had a review part of the website. Who knows we're it needs to go but I think it could be a separate section.

  16. An obsolete gun in an obsolete caliber? What isn't there to like? All jokes aside 10mm is a cool round and this would be extremely fun to shoot at 50+ yards on steel. I also hope this thread doesn't resurrect comms n bombs

  17. Liked the layout. I think a training section would be good. Would help to steer people to good medical classes, best bang for the buck (sub 300 dollar classes), or practical training. It doesn't have to all be about firearms related either. Taking a class on HAM radios, CPR class, or fitness class could prove to be beneficial. You could also add drills for people to practice and also try to integrate their preps, skills, and training to see their level of preparedness. The EDC needs to include medical. Doesn't have to be an ambulance but a tourniquet is a minimum. You're headed in the right direction. You might also consider adding some guest contributors or some subject matter experts. Good luck and keep us up to date on the progress!

Edit: maybe you'll cover this in the review section but who knows. Just thought it was important enough to mention.
