  1. I will be in the Gatlinburg area for several days at the end of the year with my lovely fiancee. While I value our time together, there is only so much Vera Bradley, novelty T-Shirts, and other such items I can....well you get the idea. Are the any good gun shops in the area? I found a Bass Pro and that was about it other that a few pawn shops. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
  2. Some of you guys may already know this, but just in case I wanted to forward this update I received today. This is a legislative update issued today by Donna Rowland's Office. I have just cut and pasted this so I hope it works. It appears to be an email from Lisa Knight of the Tennessee Department of Safety, Handgun Unit. Good afternoon, <o></o> My office has been made aware that the Tennessee Department of Safety (TDOS) is currently sending letters to all firearms instructors requiring them to provide information concerning the name of the firearm owner, the name of the student using the firearm, as well as the make, model, and serial number of firearms used.<o></o> I have contacted the Dept. of Safety and Lisa Knight, the Director of the Handgun Permit Department has assured us they will be revising the form in question to address the concerns many constituents are having. Some of the detailed information such as serial number will be omitted to better protect the privacy of handgun carriers. <o></o> Please see the following statement from Lisa Knight, to be followed by a formal statement: <o> </o> "We are removing the serial # off the form as well as the part of the form that ask who owned the gun. The roster will still be required to show the students name, signature, TN Driver license number, test scores, certificate number and the date the class was completed. This is in part due to an audit finding."<o> </o> Lisa Knight Department of Safety Handgun Unit 1150 Foster Ave. Nashville TN 37210 Phone: (615) 251-5330 Fax: (615) 532-3056 Lisa.Knight@state.tn.us <o></o> Thank you. <o></o>
  3. Tombstone, Sniper, Pedator (mini-guns are awesome!), Bad Boys (Gotta love the 4 Barrel .357)
  4. If I could load 100-200 an hour I would be happy. My biggest concern is that the press I choose is simple and can hold a setup without having to be tweaked every few minutes.
  5. Is the Dillon that much better?
  6. Winter OWB. Summer IWB. I would prefer to carry OWB year round..it's soooo much more comfortable.
  7. Those look pretty cool but I'd catch he!! for carrying a murse.
  8. That's the reason I qualified with the most difficult to control handgun that I own. I qualified with a Glock 27 and I carry a Kel-tec PF9 or my Kimber Eclipse Pro II. Just in case I ever have to use my carry firearm the argument that I couldnt control my carry firearm is pretty much mute when compared to what I qualified with.
  9. The only reason I'm looking at the 4 die setup is so I can include a factory crimp die in the process for my .45 acp and 9mm. It that the correct way to set it up?
  10. Cool idea. Not exactly sure how to do it without rebuilding the staircase, but really cool.
  11. Priority mail may be 2-3 days, but that's after the item has shipped. If they are backlogged it may be several days before they get to your order.
  12. Thanks for all the information, it has been a HUGE help in researching my options. I was originally looking at a RCBS Rockchucker but after everything I have read here and what I have learned from others I am leaning toward the Lee Turret Press with the auto index and 4 die options. Mainly because of the simplicity and the cost. Anyone ever use this press?
  13. Awesome, thanks for the info! I'll have to stop by next time I head to Florence.
  14. If she had a reason to be there she should have rolled her window down and spoke to him instead of avoiding eye contact when he pulled up beside here. I would say her behavior was suspicious at the least. Lets face it...the Police can't be everywhere all the time, that's the reason neighborhood watch exists. Who knows better than the residents of a neighborhood if a strange person or vehicles has been lurking? No one. The residents are there day in and day out. I have done the same thing in the past and will do it again in the future. If the BG knows he's being watched there's more of a chance he will move on somewhere else.
  15. The ethanol content will hurt mileage but not all companies cut their gasoline with ethanol. In Murfreesboro several of the Kwick Sak locations are 100% gasoline (no Ethanol) in addition, any station within a county that must meet some of the more stringent air quality standards (MPO region) such as Davidson, Rutherford, etc. have an additive in the fuel to reduce some of the harmfun emissions. The additive seems to hurn mileage in addition to the ethanol. My mileage has gone from 30hwy last year at this time to 23-25 hwy this year. (ugh)
  16. I was reorganizing my ammo the other night and noticed a stack from a company called Alabama Ammo. The rounds I found were purchased at a gun show several (like 10) years ago. Does anyone know if they are still around and if they have decent prices? I'm in North Alabama pretty often and they used to be in Moulton...about 20 minutes away from Florence.
  17. Man....I have to pay almost $20 just to shoot in Murfreesboro. If I didn't have to work, I would be there. It's worth the money just to get in some extra practice.
  18. The EPA has enacted design requirements on new outdoor ranges to control airborne lead. The Rutherford County Sheriff's department is working on their own range and part of project was designed to control airborne lead as well as the solids. The engineers I spoke with were referring to the "new EPA requirements". If I can get further details I will post them.
  19. From what I understand it was a prototype only and the company that manufactured it was really more concerned with the design of the recoil management system and not necessarily as concerned with producing a .50BMG pistol. Regardless, I dare say it would get some attention if you were ever stopped with it!!
  20. Sweet..congrats. She's a beauty.
  21. Why stop at .44? They're common. Go for a .50 http://airbornecombatengineer.typepad.com/photos/weapons_fireams/thunder50diagonalace.jpg
  22. I was always taught not to pull a weapon unless I intended on using it. I'll go with Farmans approach.
  23. +1
  24. Sorry..duh..that would be a handy bit of information. Remington 870 - 18-1/2" Barrel and extended magazine (7 Round).
  25. Well, could I get her to train my fiancee? LOL
