  1. Both great guns, you just have to decide if you prefer the striker to the DA/SA system. If you shoot regularly I'd go CZ, if you shoot occasionally you should go H&K. The striker system is just easier to maintain competency.
  2. If you like the VP40, you might also try out some of the walther pistols. They have a similar grip shape to the VP series. If you are looking for a more straight 1911-ish grip angle, try to handle one of the CZ-P-07 or 09 guns. Or if you want striker fired wait for the new CZ-P10. I think the H&K are great guns and I also like the Walther's. Those would be my two first recommendations to you, but I have to plug CZ's because they are a personal favorite.
