  1. It's really amazing how fast they come up on the tanker - literally out of the blue. One minute the sky is completely clear, and the next minute they are all around you!
  2. I was expecting this thread to be about the REAL BLM (Bureau of Land Management)! ......never mind
  3. Here are some photos I took at various times in my career: Refueling an F-15 in the AOR Thunderbirds after a fill-up Refueling an AWACS off the coast of Colombia
  4. Before a couple of knee surgeries cut down on my hunting, I had a nice pair of Leica Geovid 10 X 42 rangefinding binos.  They were expensive, but well worth it where I hunted in Colorado.  They could range out to over 1200 yards.  Saved me a lot of boot leather!   Now I use a pair of Cabela's 10 X 42 Alaskan Guide Series I picked up several years ago.  Very nice glass and reasonably priced
  5. South Knoxville here.   -Break-   Can anyone give me any intel on any areas where I can shoot?   We just moved here from Colorado and there were multiple areas (BLM, State Trust Land, National Forest, etc...) where we could shoot.  There is public land everywhere and we just had to be 500 ft from an existing structure.  I'm not real fond of ranges, just looking for some safe place where we can get some rounds down range.  Thanks!
  6. Interesting theory.  I do see one small problem with your plan, you have no idea where I live so it might be a bit of a challenge to watch my house and learn my habits.
  7. Keeping it in the garage would be a lot easier.  If it it ends up there, I will have something over it, or around it to hide it from view when the garage door is open.  Fortunately, I live on a cul-de-sac and there is no one across the street to see it when the door is open. Plus, my garage is pretty big so I can place it in a corner, out of easy view.  I didn't think about a moisture barrier beneath the safe - good tip!  I will have to bolt it down to the floor though.
  8. I recently moved to Knoxville from Colorado.  I had my safe in my basement in my old home and never had any problems with moisture in the safe (it is very dry with very low humidity).  I just moved in to my new home and I'm trying to decide where to put my safe.  It's 500 lbs (empty) and I want to ensure if I put it upstairs, there won't be a problem with the weight and the floor of my home.  If it goes upstairs, I will have it located on the outside wall (load bearing) of my home.  But if I put it in the garage, I'm worried about the humidity and the effect on my weapons.  I've got a dehumidifier rod for the safe, but will it be enough?  My garage is very well insulated and it has been very cool throughout the days. Any feedback will be appreciated.  Thanks!
  9. I recently returned to Knoxville to retire after 25 years on active duty in the USAF and five years at NORAD/USNORTHCOM as a DoD civilian.  It's good to be back home!
