  1. The M600 is a good light, especially if you're getting a good deal on it, you won't be disappointed. I'm an Aimpoint guy and a top mounted X200/X300 doesn't get in the way. If the extra length isn't an issue then no worries with the Scout. Metal because I just prefer it. I've broken, cracked, and melted polymer bits on a few occasions. Nothing catastrophic in the moment, but I just prefer the metal. Shooter's preference. Battery type, again, shooter's preference. If you're not running your gear hard then the internals you're talking about will probably hold up fine. As for extended power loss, well I'll refer back to intended use. It's not like you're going to walk around with it on for hours at a time. The batteries will last quite awhile. I understand your reasoning though. Strobing isn't something I use much, and Surefire doesn't offer it. I was just bringing up another possible consideration. Back to my favorite term "shooter's preference."
  2. I've rescheduled with the owner for a demo next month so I can have more detailed information after I put my hands on it. The friend that went in my stead shot the pistol version. He stated the pistol had practically zero recoil and mostly in the form of a rearward push vs muzzle rise. He was able to run mags as fast as he could accurately engage, and had no malfunctions of any type. Slow, steady fire at 25 and 50 yards the pistol was extremely accurate, with an unmeasured "golf ball sized" group after a complete magazine (I didn't ask whether it was match or bulk .45). Trigger pull out of the box felt, to him, more smooth and somewhat lighter than a standard AR, but not like a match trigger. Most of the gun, mags included, are proprietary. Per one of the owners, this was done to ensure quality control with their system. I can understand that as most people won't care that a bad aftermarket mag or incorrect combination of aftermarket buffer and spring is causing a malfunction. They would just know that "the gun won't shoot" and it'll be bad reviews and sold down the road. However, the part most of us care about, the trigger/FCG is replaceable with standard AR trigger components. Meaning you can go by that sweet BRAND X AR trigger you love and drop it in this. All told it was a positive review from a trusted friend, and I'll confirm it in a few weeks when I send rounds downrange with it.
  3. You're likely to get a lot of varying responses to this. Ultimately it comes down to shooter preference and intended use. I prefer to run my light (old school X200) without a tape switch and simply locate it on the top rail where I can activate it with a little forward thumb pressure. I've used pressure switches and multiple locations over the years and I've settled on that setup to simplify and take a point of failure out of the equation. Scout lights are pretty good but take up more rail space (especially the AA). If you're set on the scout, get a Mini-Scout. However, I'd look at the X300 first. More output, more compact, and I know for a fact they're durable. I'd also go with a CR123 powered model of whatever you get, no doubt. They are great when you have them, so go get some, they're readily available. Metal rail sections. Skip the AA solar attachment, upgraded internals, and all that extra fiddling around. Why buy a brand new light only to have to buy and install aftermarket parts just to make it as bright as a model you could have bought to begin with? And to be blunt, you're buying a weapon light right? It's not a flashlight to see around your house in a power outage, so it won't be on for long periods of time. You'll flip it on, flip it off, and repeat as necessary only when engaging a threat or investigating a possible threat. One thing you didn't mention is a strobing capability. It all comes down to intended purpose, but I can tell you the strobing weapon light is pretty disorienting on the receiving end. It takes a little more practice on the giving end, but not too much more. Shooter preference.
  4. I'll be checking back here through the day as time permits, so if you've got a question just hit me up and I'll answer what I can. And I have donuts...come get some [emoji631] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. I'm helping out a friend with his tables at the Goodman gun show at Wilson County Expo center today. Come check us out at the Alan's Arsenal booth! Really trying to push inventory so prices are outstanding. We're also giving away an M&P 15 Sport II. Link to register here: Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. Yep, that's my .38 there...well, not mine, but a twin. Second favorite handgun I've ever owned, and was a birthday gift from my wife to top it off. My fault though. I stopped at a "no carry" establishment and left it in the car. Then forgot about it when I got home. Someone decided to check my car for stuff that night and bingo, they had a winner. Awesome gun though!
  7. Sadly I took no pics of my EDC Guardian .38 Super before it was stolen...loved that gun!
  8. Welcome. TN is a great state, especially for firearms enthusiasts.
  9. Nope here. My favorite is a custom 10mm 1911 I had built, but almost never carry it. Usually I have a G42 on me.
  10. I can probably get a couple. I was supposed to be at a range demo today with them but I had to cancel. I have someone there for a range report though. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. I agree, especially as one of them is for me. In case no one has seen it CZ-USA announced an official delay and expected first shipment arriving in late April. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. That'd do it. Sucks to lose some primers, but glad it wasn't something major. Knock on wood my 550b has run great. What other parts have you had issues with? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. I've been hearing more and more about a couple month delay. I've got a handful requested when they come in, but arrival time is uncertain per my distributors. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. Ditch the Hi Point, regardless of which you take on trade.
  15. Started reloading when I got a Limited gun for USPSA. Then got a 9mm die set and can now reload my 9mm with good ammo for about $0.12 a round; less than half the price of decent factory ammo.
  16. Good luck. I've never seen one in the wild. I also haven't seen it through any of my distributors yet. As far as I know it's a dealer direct setup from the importer in TX.
  17. Projected MSRP as of October 2015 was $499. It's been floating around for a bit now.
  18. Nice to see one with a re-strike capability. That's the benefit of the DA/SA as opposed to a DAO like most other striker guns.
  19. Like someone else said, drop in a 3.5lb disconnector and see how that treats you. If you're looking for more than that I can help you out without breaking your wallet, send me a PM.
  20. That Guncrafter is really nice. I have only one 10mm and it's an Infinity 1911. Was my 20 year work anniversary present to myself.
  21. That part I remember. I was using a G19 then. Running a new Tanfo Stock 2 now, so I've been dry-firing to get the DA/SA feel down a little better. You had me looking at CZ/Tanfo since I got to check out your gun a couple years ago and finally decided to go for it. My wallet thanks you...
  22. See you guys on the 11th. Haven't shot Production in six years, but got a new gun so gonna give it a go. I need to go practice reloads...
  23. Hornady looks to have a good kit, and I have heard good things. Don't forget about Dillon though. I bought a Dillon 550B kit when I decided to jump into the reloading realm and it works like a champ.
