  1. The 6:00 news said that server went down today because of an over-load.
  2. Would that barrel be a drop-in replacement for a Ruger? I see Ruger says the barrel and gas block is factory-fitted parts.
  3. That's a good point, TNWNGR, I've heard of people running a small fridge occasionally on a battery bank. I don't think it's feasible to run a big motor or compressor on a battery bank, like a freezer or A/C. Keep in mind; using a 12v supply, you can use the amps until the battery gets pretty low. A 110v motor is going to run hot and smoke if it doesn't get all the power it wants. Never run an extension cord too small or too long when you power a motor. Most inverters will shut-down around 11 or 10 volts, so you can only get about 3-4 useful volts from the bank using an inverter.
  4. If you're going to use a small, inexpensive battery like that, maybe you should get one for each panel. Or one for two panels that are close together. The big deal is to keep the wires as short as possible. That small battery is still big enough to start a fire in a second. Plugging a battery in a house circuit would be as scary as letting a baby play with a loaded gun. I hope I get some seconds on that.
  5. I'm not and electrician, but I'm familiar with Ohms law. A/C and D/c is apples and oranges. I wouldn't try to use the same wiring. Low current D/C looses amps too fast while traveling on a wire, that causes heat. I've got a 400w emergency solar system. I run a TV and computer on it all the time. I think the battery bank alone, is going to cost more than I'll profit from it. But, I'm glad to have it. I convert to 110v and run separate house-hold wiring (romex), I've got 110v LEDs mounted in there. I think you should consider a 110 inverter. Look at the proper wire you would need to run 12 volts more than 25 feet. You'd need to start with a giant wire, and you'd still loose power and make some heat before you get to the appliance. You also need a Charge Controller. If you're going to use the system all the time, The MPPT type is worth the extra money. Most Charge Controllers will alloy to pull a 12v system separately. The battery-bank size is the critical number on a system. When you find out what that is, you'll know the rest of the story.
  6. I prefer to run a few lbs high, it's easier on the side-walls, and they make less heat. The best way to check a good psi and condition of a tire, is to feel the temperature of them when you're pumping fuel during a long trip. All 4 should feel the same. If you have a warm one or two, maybe you should find out why. If you have a hot one, don't get back on the highway without a good spare. I have a sports car, and I thought running the max psi would give me better cornering. A tire-man took the time to correct me on that. I tried him out, and he was right. I run about 2 lbs higher than the door-post sticker.
  7. Level III vests can be found fairly cheap on e-bay, professionals refresh them every 5 years. New riffle plate vests front and rear, can be had for around $150. I've been tempted to get one.
  8. I've always heard it's against federal law to have a gun on any commercial vehicle. I hope our next president will change that. Most OTR drivers live in a truck.
  9. I've often see people carrying long guns with signs to sell there. They strap all guns at the gate, like any gun show. I'm looking forward to being there Sat.
  10. Good post Ron, that's why I carry a 1911. I'm not worried about thugs, I try to stay out of their territory. Islam has proclaimed death to America and Israel all of my lifetime. Muslims have invaded America and my territory. I recognize my enemy, I'm proud to be an Infidel. I think it's clear that WW III is going to be about islam, it'll be based around the Euphrates River, that's 100% muslims.
  11. I'll give Yanmar a thumbs-up. I think they still make the small engines for JD. I'd stay away from the China stuff, and gas engines.
  12. I didn't know that, I've shipped gun parts a few times. I'll stand on the 5th' before saying which parts.
  13. Take it apart, ask UPS if they'll ship gun parts.
  14. I use internal balancers on my jeep. The brand names are expensive, I use 2g airsoft pellets. I think the recommended weight is about 14oz for a 15x35. I use airsoft pellets in my Goldwing too, 3-4oz.
  15. RIP Tanker I was looking for a plain GI 1911, so I got the Zig M 1911, after watching a promo on Buds. I'm glad I got it from Sevierville, because it had a mfg. defect. The hole in the back side of the frame for the Slide Stop was wollered-out. It shot well, but the slide stop seemed unrepairable. If I'd used the free range pass, I would had found that problem. Their are no posted service shops for a Tisas outside of Turkey. I'm glad Buds backed it up. I have a thumbs-up for Buds, they asked me what I wanted to do, it took about 5 minutes to exchange it. Both of the Zigs rattle when they're shaken, but they shoot a tight pattern. I just got finished polishing mine up. I couldn't find a series 70, but after the polishing, it's about as smooth as one. I need to reblue it where I cut the edges off. It looks good, shoots well, and I'll be glad to carry it.
  16. Sorry to hear that. The last time I had to put a pet down, a 12 gauge shell was about a quarter, I think 2 rounds of 45 would be more humane.
  17. I love e-bay, and pay-pal. There is a delivery agreement with the sales on e-bay. When they're not met, there are certain steps to take on e-bay, I can say with experience, they have your back. I buy everything I can directly from China, it saves me about 50%. Delivery from there is about 45 days sometime. Be sure to check the gear ratio, (turn the out-put 360* and count the revs on the yolk.)
  18. Goodman is only assembled in America, most of the parts come from China or Mexico. Only a few metal parts and the cabinets are made in the states. Goodman is also a gun-free zone.
  19. Take it to a 4-wheel drive shop. This is a good time to install a locker or change the gears. I've heard of good electric-selectable lockers out now. If you have lock-out hubs, I'd put a spool in it. A good shop will charge $250-300 to set gears. (make sure they know what they're doing, 'close' will work for a little while)
  20. I'm so impressed with Rock Island. They have about the best price for a quality 1911. I hear they will be making handguns in NV soon. I wonder when their prices will reflect their quality.
  21. I've had a Subaru Outback/Impreza for several years. I love it. It pulls a trailer well, I can pass on a yellow line with a 16' jet-ski. Look at you-tube about the all-wheel drive reviews, not even Toyota matches them. They set low and handle very well.
  22. I'm a fan of 1911s, I'm glad I scored a deal on a Kimber, I doubt I'd pay for the name. I recently bought a few sizes of Rock Islands, they hang with the Gold-Match at 40'. They're made to carry cocked and locked. I have a few series 70s; I prefer them, it may be the reason they hang with the Kimber. For those with the '70, always remember they can't be dropped nor bumped hard. I like leather pancake holsters, they conceal fairly well, a paddle or duty holster can be covered good enough, and most of them are a little more comfortable. I ride an older Goldwing motorcycle, it weighs 1,000lbs. It's a work-out to get that thing to a highway, but once you do, it's such a pay-off. That's the same way I feel about a 4lb 1911. It's hard to get used to carrying so much weight on my belt, but once you put it on target and fire a few rounds, it pays-off, and a bonus to be able to stay on target at a distance. I'd like to find a deal on a light weight 1911, I'd hate to lighten my pocket too much.
  23. I often wonder where I should draw those lines. James 4:17, 'to him who knows to do good... I'm usually alone, so I doubt I'd abandon those 'stupid' folks, but I might be slow to engage. I'd have to understand what the situation was and that his gun was loaded/the threat was real. I'm not sorry to say that I profile. I'd be quick to get on certain targets,
  24. I like the Judge, I'm not sure what it's good for. It's got a very heavy trigger, I'm sure it's not for feeble hands and fingers. After watching Hickok45 on youtube, I would only use a 410 to detour someone. The small 'Taurus 85', 38 special, has a nice trigger and stopping power. 'Also X2 on the 500, you've got to know how to use it, but it is fairly simple and easy. I'm glad to have one by my bed.
