I think the break even is 40 years if there aren't any price increases in the permit. So 74 for me. 100 for the first 8 years, then $50 dollars for every 8 years thereafter. It takes 40 years to reach $300. At least I don't have to worry about renewals, DMV, or future price increase.

Got my first permit today with lifetime. 300 dollars total. 34 years old.
