  1. Warning ... opinion incoming ... Ballistics don't change no matter the optic. Fifty is still nifty.
  2. I've said for years that the hunter safety course should be taught in school. They're gonna need it anyway to get a license to hunt. I had it in Vo Ag class in 1981. Dunno when they dropped it. And the majority of the classroom work for the carry permit was simply a rehash of the same stuff. I asked the instructor I had why hunter education course didn't qualify toward HCP. I've asked my Rep the same question since then .... I never got an answer from either.
  3. Ain't that the truth! I've been browsing all morning. It has gotten to the point now that you may as well get US made stuff. I'm probably gonna get a case or so of the Federal Power Shock. Palmetto State is supposed to be bringing their production of it online any day now ... but it still isn't listed on their website. ETA: PSA
  4. Remember the thread we had a few weeks ago about data? xx% of TN residents possessing a permit also makes the data tilt in the favor of 2A supporters when the bean counters and politicians are only interested in the data. Could also possibly be used as a negative I suppose. But I can't think of an example at the moment.
  5. I have briefly discussed this with my Rep. We didn't exactly see eye to eye. I wound up telling him that if there was ever a reason for me to show up in his driveway open carrying a long gun, he'd be damn glad I was there with it. ETA: I also just sent him a pic of that map. Thanks WM.
  6. Sorry .... In the spirit of staying on topic, I took the survey. Have a great day all!
  7. There is no gray area here, regardless of what a lot of people would like us to think. "Shall not be infringed" to me, means STFU and stay out of it altogether. Be it regulation, confiscation, registering, taxing, or controlling supply ... Any of them are an infringement and a violation of the 2A. ETA: (Not directed at anyone in particular) In case anyone wants to point out the word "regulated", familiarize yourself more closely with where that word is placed, and what it meant in those times. A well regulated Militia, w/o Arms infringement would be a nightmare to the folks who would love to see the population disarmed. A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.
  8. You might have better results than I did ... I installed a Boyd's stock on my old Knight muzzleloader last year. It wouldn't free float no matter what I did. As I sanded out the channel, the forearm of the stock would just warp more and wind up with the same contact as before. I finally said screw it and just left it like it was. Hopefully it won't matter on a rifle with a barrel that thick and that rarely shoots past 50 yards anyway.

  10. Hey I wanted to jump back in here and give you another example of where some of that data comes from. I have a neighbor lady who is retired, and has health problems so is primarily home bound. So she has a lotta xtra time on her hands. Somehow or another, she got hooked up with some online company that PAYS her to take surveys. According to her description, they're usually 5-20 questions on wildly varying topics and she'll get paid $5-10 per survey. She said that every once in a while she'll get one that might be a few pages long and they'll pay her $20. Now this is conjecture on my part, but I expect that the company then compiles the data and sells it to the highest bidder. What are the implications of this? Well one is that if I wanna pass some kinda rule/law, I can call this company up and buy pre-compiled data. With not a damn clue who took that survey ... but it's irrelevant. 80% of the people in this survey want RFL's! (See ... easy peasy!) If I wanted it to say that 80% DON'T want RFL's, and I'm the company with the data, I can change which surveys are included in said data. It's all a big scam folks. <\TinfoilTighterStill>
  11. Wise As a friend once stated to me ... "Anytime someone uses a percentage, they are hiding the real numbers." And IME, this will almost always be true. (Regardless of the context.) example .... My gross income was 75% above last year's. This could be awesome if last year's was 6+ figures. But what if it was $999.00? (Not so awesome) And what if it took 98% of that 75% increase to meet demand? It's all about data manipulation.
  12. I don't know if that's possible. I think this is kinda along the lines of just voicing your concerns to whoever is reading on the .gov end. I suppose that whatever one writes could come up again during possible future prosecution procedures. Therefore, I'd recommend commenting with that in mind. </TightensTinfoilHat>
