I am trying to follow the procedure - see what happens. It's an Anniversary Picture (our 60th). SAD -- Did not work. I did not get past the first step Thanks for the effort to inform. Mine seems better than at first - I have been using Remington Thunderbolt entirely lately because bought 1500 rounds at just under $11 per 500 rounds (less than $0.022 per round). I still get a Fail To Fire occasionally - last time out had no failures. I did change the Recoil Spring *used the extra one they sent with it). Thunderbolt is supposedly 1235 FPS (obvious you occasionally here a weak round - it's cheap, but not the best). I treat it as just another gun to play with. Accuracy depends on the shooter and I am not an expert. last time with the Firefly at 21 feet, using a chair to sit on and hands / arms actually / rested on the shelf at the range I shot 20 rounds (2 inch diameter group that was 2 inches low). Blame the Low on not figured out exactly where to set the front sight with the rear sight - spread is Me (ability), Thunderbolt AMMO, Harder Trigger Pull. I do a little better with the SW22 Victory (which has modifications of 2 lb trigger pull, better sight picture, longer barrel, and is more of a quality Target Type Pistol). I shot 30 rounds today (15 each at two targets) at 21 feet at rest (same as when used the Firefly). I was pretty tight in a 2 inch diameter Splatter Burst Target (maybe say 1 1/2 inch group including I was raising the rear sight a bit as went along cause started out shooting low within the the 2 inch target). Just saying, the GSG Firefly is what it is (not as good as the GSG 1911, but nearly). GSG 1911 is easier to shoot (better trigger for one). I would like to post pictures of both -- can't get pictures into this web site. GROAN

Old Thread as last post May, 2019. Now there is 9MM EZ as well the 380 EZ. A bit harder than the 380, but EZ. Better buy as cheaper AMMO.

Not trying to be a smart arse. Seems this guy needs to stop trying to beat the laws (realize he is also just trying to figure the law). He needs to go to FFL in TN and ask what to do? NO COST and Easy First Step vs continuing to get different inputs from the FORUM (most say to do that anyway or see a lawyer). He needs to stop looking for an easy "do nothing" way and end up being in violation of some dumb law. The local FFL will transfer it if they legally can. And, if they cannot, he can get legal (probably get her Father to come to FFL or get it back to him and have it shipped). BTW, Smoky Mtn Gun does Shipped in FFL for $20 ($10 fee and $10 Background check). At least they did last year. I had looked into a similar thing when wanting a Phoenix PH22 Pistol to shoot myself (just wanted to shoot one and BTW, I LIKE IT) and gift to my son. He only had a 9MM to take to the range, can't afford to shoot a 9mm for very long, so I wanted him to have a 22. I thought I could find a better deal here (TN) than in GA where he lives. So, I figured to buy it here, shoot it some and carry it to him in GA, and gift it. Then realized the law would not let me do that (dealer in GA said I could -- I didn't trust that). Turns out we found a better deal on the PH22 as a Kit (2 barrels, 3 and 5 inch, and extra mag with lockable case, etc.) for $200 out the door in GA. So, he bought it there and I chipped in 1/2 the cost. It is his gun, bought by him in GA and paper work done there. I have had it and used it more in TN than he has. I had him write me a note that I keep with the gun saying it is loaned to me which it is or was (I took it back to him a month or so ago).

BTW, Bass Pro at Xit 407 of I-40 I assume MY GUESS is that the classroom portion covers the new TN Carry Permit Process (CCP - Concealed Carry Permit is Concealed only and may not have some advantages an ECP has). You can do the CCP online (TN State Site), but I think the cost is like $65. Then eventually you would need to shoot to get the ECP (ECP - Enhanced Carry Permit) which gives you Open Carry choice, better reciprocity with other states, and more privileges for school situations. DON'T take my word for any of that -- contact Denise for the straight skinny. I had one, 9MM EZ, in hand at BUD'S in Sevierville, TN. Seemed reasonably easy to rack. That said, I did not compare it side bu side with the 380 EZ or any other gun. Guess anyone worried about racking would just need to go try it, about the only way one could decide.

Lately, Fail to Fire (require a couple attempts on some rounds). Can't remember last time I had that with other 22s using Thunderbolt. So, I blame this on the gun. I think not related to AMMO. Still I enjoy it for the $169,99 including an extra MAG that I bought it for (Sale was only on Robin Blue Slide). That, and fact able to use the cheap (been 2.2 to 2.86 cents per round) Remington Thunderbolt with some issues (Fail to Fire occasionally). Maybe a chance to drill the clearing of Failures. (not that I do work on that, I just hit it (Double Action) and if still a No Fire, drop the MAG and see if a round loaded. Then take it out and put it in the mag rotated for a strike at different spot on the rim). .

I have enjoyed the Indoor Shooting more than I thought. I have been 5 times (I think) since I joined membership early DEC. Membership allows longer shoot time (not just an hour, their $12 fee does also allow longer time). So, not rushed, can run target back and forth. I have been playing with Air Guns (Pellet) rifles (2 Pump Ups and one Break barrel) and a pistol (Pump Up). You KNOW takes time to shoot those (Pump or Break the Break the Barrel to load one at a time). Deal is I shoot air guns in basement, but limited to 42 feet distance (I can move to basement entrance and get another 15 feet). Those guns all pretty accurate in basement and use only 4 pumps on the Pump Ups. I wanted to try them at 25 yards at the range. I spend typically 2 hours messing around with them and some 22 pistol shooting. It is INDOOR, but the range area is not hooked to the central heat or air. A ventilation fan is running as well. It's cool this time of year (was 40F outside Thursday). They have portable gas heater in the shooting area AND THEY OFFERED TO TURN IT ON. I declined as I was dressed warm to Ride MC over there (17 to 20 miles to the range). I was OK in the range, hands a bit cool (old folks, I am 81, have that issue). The folks, Susan and Ladimiar (owners), and Denise are very friendly. Yesterday they were teaching a class to a couple (class for becoming and Instructor). They were on a break and invited me to sit with them and had a cup of hot cider (social interaction). BTW, Members have access to the "kitchen" and snacks. I never have used that except for this time (cider). I might enjoy a coffee or something occasionally. I think it is an enjoyable place (and so far when I am there, been only one or two other shooters come in - hope that improves for them but not get over crowded for me LOL). Only one thing concerns me and that is a Gun Check at counter in common area before entering the range. I just don't think it is wise to be taking guns out of a container at a counter (people screw up - maybe have one in chamber and then handling it at a counter, AD or ND --- STUFF HAPPENS). Most RANGES and GUN DEALERS - DO NOT want you to take a gun out for any reason. I carry into the Building: Rifles with Bolt Open (not in a container) and pistols in a padded zipped up container in a carry bag (be several pistols). I open the zipper and show them not loaded (rack back). I think they prefer to open the container and check gun (found that out yesterday). I AM NOT SURE why they do this (perhaps restrict some guns going into the range?). My opinion, safer and best to leave guns in containers and in bag and just go on into the range area. NOT to take guns out at a counter in common area. STUFF HAPPENS.

Glad things are going good for you. Sounds similar to SFWA (Shooting for Women Alliance) and a range opened in Sevierville called Family Fun Indoor range (FFIR). Located at the old Sevier Indoor Range (which closed some time ago). Be good for people in East TN. The operation is geared toward women (getting women involved in shooting and teaches many classes including CC ($28 plus range fee of $12). The allow men as well - I joined the range (yearly membership) in early DEC. Very friendly operation and It Ain' Your Typical Range. I have posted a god deal of Info and links to them on this Forum (search that) or GOOGLE 'em.

Been a few rounds thru the Firefly (guess few hundred). Can't jump up and down and praise it, but still like the feel and look (even the Robin Blue colored slide). And at $159 (plus tax and background with 2 MAGs) I am not too disappointed, not over joyed either. Basically, same review as in initial posts after some use. Trigger Break is strong. I found I have better results with the first joint from finger tip on the trigger (better groups). Last shoot of 15 rounds from 30 feet at 2 inch target FREE Hand had 11 rounds in a 2 inch group a bit off center to left and low (other 4 were within 3 inch of center). - BTW, I am not an expert shooter). That was after shooting at 21 feet to figure out sight alignment (from to rear sight). That 21 foot group (decent) was in a group from just below center to 3 inches below center. FAILURES - I had at least 4 Fail To Fire (some fired second pull, reset hammer and fire), some had to take the round out and rotate it in MAG (it fired then). Remington Thunderbolt, I know is not the most reliable AMMO, but seldom fails in my other 22s and does in this one nearly every shoot. I did not have any Fail To Eject or Fail to Load on the 30 rounds, but I have had occasional in past. PS: I shoot Thunderbolt because been getting it a Floyd's Golf and Guns for $14.99, $12.99 sale, and Thanksgiving and now XMAS at $9.99 Add Tax of 9.74% here. THAT BE 500 Round Box. BTW: I changed the Recoil Spring on a previous outing about half way thru that shoot. They give you two recoil springs with the gun (spare I think is for lower speed AMMO - Thunderbolt is 1235FPS and has shot decently with old spring). I tried some Aquila 1255 FPS and had a lot of failures (not buy that again, costs more than Thunderbolt anyway). MFG recommends 1250 FPS. So, summary (My Opinion) -- It's a decent gun at $159 (or $189 ?):::: If you get two MAGS (normally only comes with one), If you like a pretty gun (Robin Blue Slide LOL - that was the only one on sale when I bought it), If you like some decent features: hammer gun with double or single action, easy breakdown lever (assembly can be a problem as recoil spring has partial rod to hold it straight, when I put the spare spring in, I used a 22 cleaning rod to hold the end of the spring straight), has a de-cock lever, safety on slide, feels good in hand, If you are willing to put up with some failures, strong trigger break, and AMMO sensitive for target shooting.

I do know Chuck Swan and North Cumberland require only a Hunting License I think called Tier 1 (no other permits - that changed this year). I have life time SR Hunting License and use those ranges. They are like 40 to 45 miles North and North West from Knoxville.

Don't live bear there (I am near Knoxville). Glad you got a range. Did check memberships (expensive I see). Wonder what their hourly rates are?

I use a lot of BBs (CO2) in a basement range. Don't laugh until you try it -- it is good practice (20, 30, even 40 feet (use rest at 40Feet). Do some Point and Shoot practice also. Accuracy of guns (say 4 inch at 30feet, BBs have their own mind to an extent LOL). My CO2 Pistols are simple inexpensive (Crossman and a Daisy). I think the Crossman was like $30 and came with two 20 round MAGS. The daisy at BUDS was like $12 (they had a batch of refurbished ones on a pallet) and BBs load into aslot on top of the gun (18 BBs). . They both shoot good. The Daisy feels more like a real gun (grip), but can only load 18 BBs into a slide on top of the gun. The Crossman has MAGS (20 BBs) and I have 4 MAGS from first gun that finally gave up the ghost and from the new one like the first one. I think over all the Crossman has more Failures When Shooting (BBs sometimes jam, don't load when trigger is pulled back) have to drop the MAG to clear things). CO2 BB Pistols have a bit of a long trigger pull (BBs load into chamber as you pull the trigger back, then you do reach a set point and know when the break is coming). Reset on trigger is all the way FWD. A CO2 Cartridge is like $0.50 and good for 90 to 120BBS (cost of BBs is near negligible and some can be retrieved when shot into cardboard and used again). I think the coating on Daisy BBs is better than the copper on Crossman as I find more corrosion on copper BBs. As you may know, they have CO2 BB Pistols with blow back slides and some feel exactly like a real gun (weight, grip, etc.). They run from I think $60 to $100. The bad thing is only good for about 40 or 50 BBs on a CO2 Cartridge as the slide operation uses CO2 and I think FPS is less. CO 2 Cartridges run about $0.50 each. They even have BB Rifles (Full AUTO or SEMI BB), a friend has one. It uses a lot of BBs FAST and CO2 does not last long.

I should add, I also posted on this site a lot of information on Family Fun Indoor range when I first discovered it. Long posts as I learned more details. Then thought, since they are dedicated to women shooters (primarily) it would be a topic for this Thread. I don't mean to duplicate things, but perhaps you would want to look up the thread I did on that. Here is another link that shows more about the training they offer. The FFIR is located where Sevierville Indoor Range was (S I R closed sometime ago and the new owners, Vladimir and Susan, have opened FFIR). Susan is the founder of SFWA, an organization dedicated to Shooting for Women. The Range and SFWA are geared to introducing and education of women (their families and friends, men are allowed as well) to shooting. They offer many classes including Safety, Handgun Fit, Concealed Carry Permits ($40 total CC is very reasonable). Range costs are very reasonable at $12 for all day use, there are year memberships as well. I became aware of the range and dropped by to check it out (lucked out and got in on a year deal for $100 - not always available). I have visited twice to shoot. So, my exposure and acquaintance to them is limited limited, I am impressed with the owners, improvements they have made to the range (more are planned), their friendliness, knowledge, and history (experience). I suggest anyone interested in shooting (especially beginners) check them out and make your own decision. That said, briefly The business started in 1992 when Susan founded SFWA (as a result of an incident that happened to her - being held at Knife Point and Stalked for 2 years).
