  1. Ive been looking for Federal HST ammo in the Nashville area.  Looking and not finding.  Does anybody know of anywhere in the area that carries it?   I know I can get it online, but I'd prefer not to have to ship it.   I'm near Franklin.   Thanks much.
  2. Totally agree that limp wristing and mods are likely sources of failure.  Still, I wonder if the modded, limp wristed gun would perform better with heavier ammo, or not.   That is, all else being equal...
  3. I'm a member of a couple gun forums, and I see a lot of posts where people have malfunctions in semi-auto handguns, and often they blame weak ammo.   So at the risk of asking a dumb question, here it is.   All else being equal, is a 9mm semi-auto more likely to malfunction when shooting cheap 115 grain FMJ ammo, versus something like 147 grain self-defense ammo?     And if the answer is yes, is that because the 115 grain ammo is weak even when properly loaded, or because it's more likely to be improperly loaded, versus a more expensive round with a heavier bullet?   Thanks in advance for your thoughts.
  4. I second the Desantis Nemesis or Superfly.   I use the former and like it a lot.  That says a lot, because I find most holsters to be uncomfortable.
  5. I second the LCP.  Avoid the first generation...you want a post-2013 LCP.  If you get the Custom it even has pretty decent sights.   Weighs nothing, carries almost like a wallet.
  6.   Glock manual says to leave the grease alone.  I read it last night.

    Glock 43

If you want to continuously buy Glocks for years to come, there might be some savings in GSSF.  I don't see that it's worth joining if you're just doing so to buy one pistol.   You can't buy for 1 year, which means at a minimum you'll be paying dues for 2 years, $60.   If you were shopping for a Glock 19, you could then buy one for $425, a savings of about $115 over the lowest price online.   $115 savings - $60 dues = $55 saved, and you waited a year to get it.
  8.   May I ask where you shoot for  $10?  I've been looking for a range, but $40 to shoot for a couple hours doesn't really seem like a very good deal.
  9. TWRA's website shows the Yanahli range is open only on weekends from October to December.  By my count that's about 24 days per year.   I'm not sure why it's not open more.  I've often wondered about the legality of finding a quiet spot on the Yanahli WMA and doing some target practice with a pistol.  My guess is that it's probably extra legal at best.   Does anyone have any info on that?
