  1. You should probably get legal advise from a real legal professional on this. There are several ways "dismissed" could be taken.

As I read from my non-expert, no warranty offered position, if you were not "convicted" then you would be ok. As long as there is nothing else pending or on your record to preclude firearm ownership.

Well all I can tell you is go for it buddy but don't bother inviting me cause I got tired and out of breath just reading what Con_Air posted and might need a nap today now!!

I never said I would make it in anything less that 4 days. Too much fast food over years of traveling and a desk job have put me far from a hiking body type. I still enjoy getting out there though.

I can guarantee you that pros are not using Pam on their decks in most cases.  I have read some that use it, but most of the commercial decks are easy to clean.  Plus most of those guys change blades daily and simply clean it when they change blades.

Mow high and figure out a way to raise your mower to clean the deck.  An easy way are to use the drive on car stands.  It will get it high enough to get under.  Just use a screwdriver and pry away the compacted grass and it will help.  It is all about airflow and uplift.  I hate to be hard, but really, mulching decks are the worst deck possible, especially if you can't mow often enough to only cut about 1/2 off of the top of the grass.  Anything more just creates a clumpy mess.  Not sure what mower you have, but maybe they make a open deck for it.

It really all comes down to how picky you are.  I know some people just want it cut and it doesn't matter what the result is, meaning mostly dead grass laying everywhere.  I can't do that.  Only thing worse is people that blow the grass into the street and leave it.  They should be shot. (Yes, I am a bit of a mowing snob.  I blame my dad.  He was a do it right guy and it stuck with me).

Our "yard" was so steep as a kid that Dad mowed with a pushmower hooked to a rope. So I have the "get it done" attitude. As long as my wife thinks it is good enough, then I don't argue. I have too much to do to worry about something that will be just as high next week. Grass is just grass. If I could I would just let it all grow up.

Head to a local marina and pirate a lake yacht?

Or snag the Star of Knoxville

With a small tender, you have a landing craft.

    Do zombies swim?

Boats have been thought of and are a good idea, but unless the river or lake is really big then people can still see you and a good .308 would wreck havoc. Now on the ocean is nicer, but water become a HUGE issue since you can't drink it. The biggest worry I would have for a boat is mechanical issues shutting you down. Fuel would also need to be a concern at some point. I don't want to be adrift with no power to move about.

Zombie swimming depends on the "universe" you are in. In the World War Z book, the walk on the bottom or float, but sometimes get lucky and climb up anchor chains into boats.

One internal concern that was an issue at the Prison in TWD is that people need to be segregated physically so that if someone dies, they do not re-animate and kill others who them re-animate, etc. It also would assist in keeping down illness if you could keep people separate if there was a need. Hygiene is going to be pretty bad, so illness is going to happen.

There are very few setups, that we could not find a way to breach given an unlimited supply of men and weapons. If I raided an air base, a few pieces of rigged up air ordnance would wipe out most any place the could be built int he apocalypse. The idea would be to be able to hold out and and do away with realistic live threats while keeping the zombies well at bay.

  5. As you said, if you make a good location, people will come and try to take it. On the other side, living day to day with no protection is a recipe to be zombie chow.

One idea that came up reading your post is that a large warehouse might be nice. Ans I know the perimeter would be difficult to defend, but the plan would be to build the levels of fortification INSIDE. That way it is less likely to be noticed, but still protected. Maybe a armored up conex as the central "keep". Still would nto deal with a tank, but hopefully tanks woudl be in short supply.

  6. Specifically handguns, but probably stricter than the rifle law. Not sure if you are a "licensee" or jyst private seller.

    https://www.atf.gov/firearms/qa/may-licensee-employ-individual-who-less-21-years-age-if-licensee-sells-handguns-and

"May a licensee employ an individual who is less than 21 years of age if the licensee sells handguns and ammunition suitable for use in handguns?

Yes. An individual less than 21 years of age may sell handguns and ammunition suitable for use in handguns. However, a person less than 18 years of age must have the prior written consent of a parent or guardian and the written consent must be in the person’s possession at all times. Also, the parent or guardian giving the written consent may not be prohibited by law from possessing a firearm. Moreover, State law must not prohibit a person less than 18 years of age from possessing the handguns or ammunition.

Nah, they wouldn't have them in a steamplant, but some civil service worker who cranks valves open and closed all day ... now that may be the kind of job to get ya steamed.

Are you saying they might blow a gasket?

Never say never. If there's a Steamplant Shootout III, it will make the national news as another disgruntled government worker who went rogue. But surely won't involve the Gallatin Gun Club! :biglol:

Would it involve a Postman?

I have a great mower, I have lousy grass, lol. I had a Gallatin PD that used to have a lawn biz before he got on that the secret is to spray under the deck with PAM. He said that's what the pros do to keep it from sticking and clumping. I just don't have any way of getting my mower in the air high enough to clean it out and spray it.

Avoid ramps. Had a buddy have a rider land on his head when the ramps slipped. He was not so good for a while.

I have thought of using a come-along hooked to my garage rafters to raise mine. I want to drive a piece of rebar through 2 rafters and hook to it.

I'm not even close to that number. I keep watching ammo price fall though so now is the time to stock up. I did score a box of .22lr today!!

If you don't mind ordering online, I keep seeing it pop up with free shipping if you order enough.

Cabela's has the Federal Auto Match .22 LR Ammunition 325 round box for $19.99 right now. $5 shipping on over $99 right now, but they keep swapping between it and free shipping codes.

Maybe buy, get the receipt, get it paid for, return it and add to the credit for something larger

If I had been smarter back when it happened, I would have. Oh well, I make do.

If I can get someone to grind out the stumps I have soon, then maybe that will ease it too. I give up trying to burn them out. 2.5ft - 3ft stumps take forever to burn out.

That sucks. What's it matter to them what you use a settlement for? They only pay a certain amount.

The agent said that he had to pay a receipt. He said they wouldn't pay 1 if it wasn't for a similar unit. I should just went and got one at Sears and copied the receipt. Then went in and told them I want to not buy that 1 but by another one.  Then either return it or exchange it.
