  1. I always carried a little no name lockback on me and I graduated just after you. I never even thought of pulling a knife in a fight even when I got confronted by 5 drunk guys at the beach during high school. My knife was a tool...along with my head that I used to to bluff my way out of that situation. Problem got solved and no one went to the ER or jail. Things we do to impress girls as kids.... I guess if I had feared for my life, I might have used it as a last resort. Simple way to avoid doing that is to not get yourself into stupid situations in the first place.
  2. I am guessing the poster mean that you would do a straight blade with handle and a ring at the end. Basic idea might be this, just nicer, I would see more of a blade than a spearhead on the end... just a guess though.
  3. Sounds like I need to check it out......and find out how you get to take week long camping trips.. lol. Sounds great.
  4. So that is a brace on that? I thought it was a stock. I still don't like the fine line and gray area of pistol v sbr enough to build a pistol that can be sbr'd easily. Too much potential for issues from people that are not 100% up on the law.
  5. So what paperwork needs to be filed on this? Is it not on a pistol lower? If it is not, is it not an issue having it assembled BEFORE filing?
  6. Or to let walkers come to you and pike them THROUGH the protection of the fence........instead of setting a car on fire.....
  7. Sorry for the delay. I have not gotten to run it over more than the shotgun that I was cleaning up. Definitely smells like you squirted out and entire tube of mint toothpaste. For what I have done with it I liked it. Cleaner seemed to work well on the years of build up without much elbow grease. The oil did not run as much as some of the oil I have used. It did seem thin enough to get in around the small crevices though. I have thought about getting some of the paste to really tackle the surface rust that is on one side of the receiver. I may just try a few more runs with the spray cleaner first. Not real scientific, but with the time and setup I have to work with, I can only do so much. I honestly hate the smell of oil on my hands. It seems to linger for days. The mint is strong, but a better option and it was gone the first time I washed. I also did not get the feeling that getting this on the wood would have adverse effects to the finish. I did not test that though. The only downside is that it does not seem like you could use this, oil a gun later, and go back to this without cleaning off all the oil first. This is according to the directions. Thanks for the chance to test out some before I bought any.
  8. I did research on one of the Revelation rifles I was looking to buy a while back. One thing I found said: "The Revelation Model 125 is a variant of the Mossberg Model 353." I can't confirm for sure, but the look alike on Numrich. Might compare the mag part #. Hopefully this narrows down the models. These "store guns" were notorious for being a cheaper (cheaper wood for stocks was one big thing) version of a popular model, but sometimes they would switch up makers and not swap the model name or number. I have seen that talked about some. Some of the books seem to not even make footnotes about these models.

Dad never got to take me in, I was already too old when he took the job and the plant was not a place for kids (razor blades by the millions lol) I wish I knew 1/2 of what he learned in that job. We only learn how stupid of kids we were after we are too old for it to do any good... lol

Only problem is that most of our factories are not set up for this type of production any more. My Dad was a machinist at a razor factory and they could have with some tweaking though.

That is cool. You would not find corps doing that day. Too much negativity. But in the past everyone from sewing machine makers, to appliance manufactures retooled for the war efforts.
  12. Saw these and thought they were appropriate. Bullet Shaped Stainless Steel Whiskey Stones Not that I am classy enough to use whisky stones mind you
  13. Actually plan to do that over lunch today if work cooperates. I need to pickup something there anyway.
  14. Well I disassembled this last night quickly due to little time. I did not get to take any pics. Any way to know if the springs are the "reduced recoil" spring set? I did not see anything bent that I could tell and it was not full of oil inside. The backplate seems to match what I see online, though that is hard to tell. Anyone got a 42 that they can snap a backplate pic? Just to be sure. I know I still need to clean it to make sure it is not the lube...just in case.
  15. No idea, but I have seen seen some things cause problems that they never should have in other guns. All in all, I guess I need to disassemble this anyway. For practice and to fix it. If I am still clueless, I will post pics. Hopefully the issue will jump out at me though (and hopefully that is not a spring flying across the room). Hoping if anything is damaged that it is not a ton to fix, but we will see.
  16. Ok guys. Thanks for the advise. I will disassemble it tonight (hopefully) to look at the back plate and dry it up. The manual is in there so it should show me, but I will grab a look at Youtube on it too. Hopefully one of these is all it is.
  17. Not that is obvious. I will have to look closer at home.
  18. One of the guns I got recently from an online auction is a Glock 42 .380. I bought it with a couple others because I wanted to try a Glock and the price was really good. Already had a .380 so ammo was already in stock at the house. It came with the box, test fire envelope, lock (wrong keys though..ooops lol), and one mag with Pearce mag grip extension. Looks totally new and was oiled really well. I am guessing was a backup gun maybe but no info from the source as to history. The only issue I have so far is that the slide is HARD to rack. I am not a weak guy and I have to work at it so much that I might not get the slide fully racked the first time. I can rack my other medium to small size semis just fine. Some are almost new and some are pretty worn in. Anyone else have this? Any chance maybe the previous owner swapped a spring out? Maybe all Glocks are this hard until broken in? Never had one before. Thanks in advance for the input.
  19. Nice collection. lol Thanks for the help. I may see about the WTB ad. I only have a holster for one of my guns and it is not a standard carry item unless you are a LEO from the 1930-40's.
  20. Ok. My family situation might negate a console mount even though my car has a sweet setup for it. Do they make those belly bands in xxxxL if I decided to use them lol I may just have to wander into the FFL I use and try a few on that he has in stock. Just not a ton of selection, but Cabela's does not seem to be ok with me just whipping out my gun to test holsters in the aisle.
  21. Jab Thanks for the insight. Lots of points to take into account. Glad to know that I might be able to classify my gut as "tactical" too. Lol I think I would hate iwb too, but will need to test one just to be sure. Winter might not be bad, but summer they would probably kill me. I wear cargo pants almost as a rule and I know how much I can carry. I carry 2 phones (work and home), a Streamlight Stylus Pro light, a Maxpedition Micro, and my Gerber folder every day and no one is the wiser. I can see how a pocket holster might be ok if I shift my pockets around. I just think I would like something larger than my LCP. Might need to try it out with my PF-9. Again thanks for the input.
  22. Does anyone still actually use shoulder holsters? I actually think I might like one except for needing a jacket all the time.
  23. Not sure if this has been discussed, but just wondering what everyone's prefered setup is for open and/or concealed carry. I am trying to get around to getting my CCW and not sure what I will get to use. Trying to get some input before I just start buying rigs.
  24. I have determined that to be a normal state of affairs. You either move on or live with it. And you can never have too many guns...or tools. Tools are good too.
