Here is a thought that popped in my head....if you consider the Phoenix. They make a deluxe range kit that has a 5" and a 3" barrel, regular 10shot and extended 10shot magazine, gun cleaning kit, carry case, etc.  $200

I saw that and did consider it. Still deciding on it. Sounds like a good option.

So then I decided I would just watch TGO classifieds and Armslist and go for what became available first at a decent price.  Now I learned that people in West TN and Middle TN sell guns, people in East TN buy guns.  Guess which end of the State I live in.  Oh well, I really do enjoy the hunt.  Good luck and I hope you are pleased with what you decide on.

I have determined the same thing. The only people I see consistently selling are flippers. One guy locally puts up WTB ads all the time then turns around and flips them. He sucks up any good deals then asks retail price when he sells.

I have resorted to Gunbroker at times. More conpetition, but more choice. I still keep an eye out though.

I shot a Phoenix HP22 not long ago, and I didn't have any problems. 8 rounds, and I don't know what ammo. [It was one of the grandkids that said "Papa, shoot my new gun"]

I've had a PT-22 for several years, and never had it function reliably that I can remember. I do need to go test it again, and take the Mosquito with it [another nice .22lr that isn't reliable] I will say this....the PT-22 is a sweet little single shot, and will easily fit in the pocket, any pocket, VERY comfortably. I really like it, and it also gets carried around the property, to the mailbox, etc. Very easy (and fast) to use as a single shot.

[side note] I have a GSG 1911 .22lr [Birthday gift from the kids] that I put a CWA Performance Enhancement Kit on. It is 100% reliable with any ammo, but it is a full size 1911 5"bbl.

I bought a Taurus M94 SS 5" in 2001. I have heard some problems with them a couple years ago, but never had a problem with mine. It is a plow mule, a mud wrestler, and super accurate. It doesn't care what you feed it, or how much, and performs the same whether it has just been cleaned or it's covered in soot. It has seen a lot of use, and is still as tight as when new. Only one con, and the Taurus M94 is notorious for it.......it has a really heavy hammer spring......no, I mean a REALLY heavy hammer spring. Two or three cylinders in single action, and your thumb is sensitive. Always planned on filing down the spur a little, but I cringe about grinding on guns [yeah, maybe not the same thing,eh?] I just deal with it, so have the kids. I have a couple friends that have replaced the spring with lighter ones, but they have had light strikes. I leave it as is, enjoy it, and don't go fixin' anything that ain't broke. Double action is ok, but the springs are so heavy it's not near as accurate.

    Thanks for the input.

Do you know if all the GSG stuff is as good? I had a chance to trade for a hi-cap pistol a while back but passed since I had never seen GSG stuff. It wold have been more of a fun gun than a carry since it was in .22lr and screamed Machine Gun.

Sort of like a marine, when you're a tanker, it's never past or present... you're a tanker.  Doesn't matter how you go in, we all come out the other side acting the same way lol

Hell, when a navy seal tell you "that's a bad ass job" you know it's cool as hell because those guys get to play with things we don't even know exist.

I remember my Papaw talking about the tanks in WWII. He drove a fuel and munitions truck (who decided gas and explosives in one place???), but loved the twin cadillac engine tanks. He said they used to do 65mph down the Autobahn. I think he really wanted to be in one, but I don't think he ever "officially" got to.

Love some monty python.  Since the thread has diverted, you should check out kids in the hall: brain candy if you like the python movies :)

Would suggest to get it on TV or something better resolution though.

    I will check it out.

I think derailing conversations is my superpower...I just have to learn to use it for good. Lol.

So to bring it back on track... You were/are a tanker?

Nah, that was the guys who said "Crap! We're out of ammo but still have powder and the enemy is about to come over that rise. Find anything you can to stuff in there and shoot at them!"  And canister shot was born...

I think that first guy was manning a cannon myself. He crammed some chain, broken swords, rock, and some ham bones left over from dinner last night in and fired away. The "If it will fit, fire away" became the slogan. Of course his real secret weapon was when he decided to put livestock in the catapult..........

dunno, but he was probably also the guy that said "hey, what do we do with all these 3/4" ball bearings left over in the garage? ... Let's put them in a 120mm canister and blow them out of a tank!" And the beehive round was born.

Yep I agree, sounds like the same kind of thinking. Next thing he will invent is the recycled beehive round... it will use depleted AA/AAA batteries instead of ball bearings. Or he could go high class and use the CR123 batteries use up in the military optics.

  8. I think I might have found a 2 inch Taurus 94 to fit this role. Just happens, I saw one for sale right at a good price after xtriggerman replied. I will see if I like is as much when I get to handle it. I am still looking at possibly getting a Taurus PT-22 or a Phoenix semi as the semi option for this function. Never hurts to have options and neither of those are expensive. Since this is not my "life or death" gun and will be bounced around in a bag, I am not worried so much with it being the top of the line. Just fun, small, and reasonably reliable.

graycrait mentioned the S&W Model 63 .......allow me to give you a huge warning on the S&W M63-5 SS 3"bbl .22lr

DO NOT go hold/fondle/shoot one of these.......they suck...I mean they will suck you in 100% and you will never keep it far away from you.

I can see that, I have an affinity for Smith Revolvers....just not the budget most days....

    Different size sabot.

You beat me to it. lol

I wonder if the first guy to use a "sabot" just said crap all the bullets I have are too small, let's just wrap something around it to make it fit?

  10. I wonder if the first prototypes with DU in the armor glowed softly lol.

It is always easy for the guy in a secure office sitting in a nice soft chair to say "There is no danger from....". What he really means is "There is no danger to ME from...."

that's why God put the "wing" in "wingshooter"  That would be my group skill I guess, lol.

Would stink if someone died and turned at 40,000' in an airplane though :panic:

Ahhhh Well that is not my big skill. Great for you.

I guess mine is scrounging. I have a knack for finding things or seeing a new purpose in things. My wife just calls it hoarding. Lol

Did you see the short segments they played as commercials during the 1st season of  the spinoff?

Ya'll brace yourselves because I am done with Tapatalk.  Deleting it from the server this evening.

No concern here. With years in IT, I could not even get it to setup and work on any of my devices. Seems to have issues all around.

I'd be on my way to Andrews to get AirforceOne or maybe an F16 :)

Well hopefully you would find a pilot because no one is qualified in the group that I know of. You might be able to fake your way through with a small Cessna if you had some basic knowledge. Though streaking some missiles into Savior central command would be satisfying.

If they could find some bombs like the drop from planes (no idea on the real name for them) , then driving them in the back of a truck and detonating them would do a good job too.
