  1. AMEN! I really wish some dogs could drop the poor excuses for humans off at the shelter. I’ve always wished I was wealthy enough to be able to rescue all these dogs.
  2. Right you are, I mean, he is, was, wait, that’s not ri….ahh forget it
  3. I’m sorry for your family’s loss. I’m glad they were saved. Even putting eternity aside for a moment, I cannot imagine having to go through life here without Him. much less having to spend eternity without Him.
  4. That is good stuff. I have some of that here too.
  5. Just looked it up online and saw complaints about it being too thin and running out of people’s guns onto the stucks, etc. BUT, Remoil is a surface treatment/lube and they recommend that you wipe off any excess. Even though I use other lubricants now, I wouldn’t have a conniption fit if I had to use Remoil. All that said, I’ve been experimenting (for years) with Mobil 1 motor oil (0-20 or 30 I think) as recommended by some tacticool dudes on some tacticool forums. Sometimes I will mix the oil with a wee bit of bearing grease to apply to the parts that like to snuggle up together. Sometimes I might even apply the same mixture to the outside of the gun and wipe it down thoroughly. I have done this on various types of guns including wheel guns, glocks, sig P series, 1911s, lever guns, bolt guns, and even ARs. I shoot in this horrible Tennessee summer, I shoot in very cold weather, I hunt all winter, and I have never once had any kind of failures at all. But, I didn’t with Remoil either.
  6. I keep thinking that some years ago folks had brought up some issue with Remoil having teflon in it and that causing something or other to cause something or other with something or other. I may be wrong on that, and, as you can tell, I can’t remember exactly what the issue was, or if it even had anything to do with teflon. I just remember folks bringing up some perceived problem with Remoil a few years back. I’ve been using other types of oil for the last several years, but I can’t remember having any problems myself with Remoil. So there’s my perfectly useless two cents.
  7. I’ll vote for the .45-70 no matter the price difference. I do realize you could fund a whole block party fireworks weekend with the cost of that one round, but I just don’t think all the fireworks would hold a dud firecracker to the good old .45-70. Happy Freedom Day!
  8. Hands down the best vacation I’ve ever had. Met some fine people there and next year, Lord willing, I’ll be going back.
  9. Yep! Exactly right! And there I was that Tuesday when we did the Cooper Scout Walk. My greenhorn self only THOUGHT I had pre-hydrated enough. Learned real quick just how wrong I was.
  10. I didn’t quite have that experience, but I got back a couple weeks ago from a week full of shooting and good company at the NRA center in Raton, NM. I forget what the temperature was there but the humidity was near nothing. Running and gunning all week and didn’t sweat at all. Soon as I got back here I was soaked with sweat. I told some friends that if I’d had my dog with me I might not have come back.
  11. Yeah I’ve never liked the made up numbers just to cause more drama. Maybe wind chill numbers in winter are useful but I’ve never paid attention to all the drama about heat index.
  12. No fuss. We know it’s more or less the same. Everybody just likes to joke about it. That said, I do hate the heat. Always have. I’m happiest in winter.
  13. Well, I just saw satan packing to move back home and he was saying something about how ridiculous this heat is and how he’d never visit Tennessee again! I guess it is kind of a dry heat where he’s from though.
  14. Sounds mighty fine. We just grilled some smoked sausage and some dogs and some vegetables for lunch.
