  1. Our HD shotgun is a Remington 870 "HD" model and of course a pump. I keep a round in the chamber, so racking the slide to warn an intruder isn't something that I am particularly worried about.
  2. And it's right down the street from where I work. I've eaten lunch there a few times.
  3. Thought others might enjoy this as well...
  4. You really could have helped move furniture. We were at it until 4pm nearly... then I came home and fell asleep for a few hours. I'm paying someone to move my stuff when the time comes.
  5. Very extreme. Evacuating Wal-Mart during a thunderstorm... that'll get some traction!
  6. I'd go for a lower and endorse the use of our logo... especially if ETS became a sponsor/vendor here with a banner ad or something.
  7. How is it bad form when you point out a safety error in someone's handling of a firearm? I thought we were all here to learn and improve upon our own skills. You guys are welcome to point out anytime I mistakenly lay my finger on the trigger when handling a gun in a setting like that.
  8. Hornet Handler (member here) owns a SD rifle. He seems to like it, so maybe he'll chime in.
  9. I could three... maybe four with their fingers on the trigger. The rest appear to know their stuff.
  10. So you're running? Rabbi '08?
  11. I really like that gun. A lot. Honestly I don't think you can go wrong with a Kimber and it being the stainless steel frame means it should be very robust, although a bit on the heavy side. A good holster and gun belt will make that a non-issue, though.

Ever see the movie My Super Ex-Girlfriend?
  13. This is some really good stuff (link to molyresin finish) if you want to make it a bit more permanent and rugged than Krylon.

On the bright side, this gives you more time to research and make sure that what you buy will meet your needs and desires.
  15. Lenovo is usually really good about not putting crapware all over their laptops but the last T61 that arrived (with Vista... gag) had a bunch of software on it that I removed pretty quickly. I hope that doesn't become a trend with their new stuff especially considering how helpful the ThinkVantage restore feature is. Len... you mentioned going Mac. I'm telling you, if Microsoft doesn't do something soon to make Vista a viable business OS and streamline the core components some more to make it perform better, I'm going to have half a mind to switch all of our people here to Mac. I really like the new PowerBooks and the fact that MacOS is now *Nix based really makes me like them even more. And you'll still have the option of dual booting into Windows if you really want! Apple would make an absolute killing if they would sell MacOS for use on non-Apple hardware now that they are supporting the Intel processors.
  16. Friday I'm helping a buddy of mine move from his old house into a temporary apartment. You're welcome to stop by and help us carry things up two flights of steps though!
  17. We have used IBM / Lenovo Thinkpad notebooks at the office for years now. Along the way we have had a few Dell Latitudes show up but none of them have really been very acceptable in terms of longevity or durability. We've had hard drive and mainboard failures in all but one of them. The only Latitude that has lasted very long is a D620 that I'm using at this very moment... only because I'm waiting on a new Thinkpad to arrive. If you can spare the change, get a Thinkpad. I really like the new T61 widescreens. You have to specify Windows XP unless you just want Vista, but my opinion of Vista is pretty low still and probably will be until I see how Microsoft's upcoming Service Pack 1 for it addresses some of the problems. Just my $0.02 worth.

I know your frustration with the M&P trigger precisely. My full-size 40 was driving me absolutely bat**** prior to sending it off for a trigger job. My grouping was horrible and I knew that I was doing everything right in terms of minimizing trigger jerk. The thing is, some of those guns have a even more horrible break than others. My compact isn't like that and neither is my wife's compact. But the big 40 would literally jump to the left every time the trigger broke over and as a result my initial shot might have been off but my follow-up shot would definitely be off. After the trigger was re-worked by Dan Burwell and the pull weight cut down to around 3.5lbs, the gun became a nail driver. If I miss now, it's because I screwed up. If you were closer, I'd be more than happy to let you shoot it sometime at the range. That trigger feels almost as good now as some 1911 triggers do out of the box.
  19. Right. So I guess what I meant to ask in my previous post was whether a state government has been sued yet for prohibiting a citizen's right to defend him or herself in an establishment that the government had declared to be a "gun-free zone".

I don't want to Monday Morning Quarterback you here, but it sounds like you were jerking the trigger and causing your shots to go wide. I have no problem getting very tight groups out of either of our M&P compacts. Granted, the trigger on these guns is a little gritty at first but it does smooth out with use... and really shines if you have a competent gunsmith smooth it out for you. Besides, a compact handgun shouldn't be considered for sharpshooting. If you're wanting accuracy, get a 5" bbl single-action. As long as the compact can put it's bullets into a man-sized target at 10 yds or less, I'd say it is doing the job it was intended to do. But most of them are capable of being way more accurate than that; the M&P included.
