  1. I'd only be worried if they have metal detectors.
  2. Bob, I'm glad that you found us and even more glad that you decided to sign up and participate. Hope you enjoy your stay with us!
  3. Source: http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/bdquery/z?d110:HR00096:@@@L&summ2=m& H.R. 96, will basically destroy any gun show or private sale of firearms as we know it. Alan Korwin, noted firearms author says of this bill: "Under the original draft, currently legal gun shows are outlawed without prior federal permission. Gun show promoters must agree to warrantless searches in order to operate, and may be arrested if private citizens talk at the show about gun sales they wish to complete away from the show. The right to assemble peaceably at a gun show or even plan for one, carries stiff prison terms unless federal licenses are issued in advance. I am not making this up. "Massive new bureaucracy is created because all shows and their exhibitors must be registered 30 days before the show, then again 72 hours before the show, and again five days after the show. That's in addition to registering anyone who walks in, plus "any other information" the Secretary of the Treasury decides, by regulation, is necessary on vendors, attendees, and the show itself." Remember your left-wing friends who all argued that their votes were votes for Change this past electoral season? Well, here's their change! Time to contact your elected representatives and tell them that we do not want this bill passed! Make your voices heard!
  4. That's more or less my mentality as well. I used to panic at the thought of "flashing" my gun while putting on a coat or something. I still try to avoid it, but I don't stress over it if the gun happens to be visible for a second or two.
  5. This past week I put in a backorder with Springfield Armory for two more 10rd compact mags for my XD45C. As soon as they come in, I will carry at least one of them as an extra. I already have a mag carrier and a few extra mags for my 1911, but unfortunately I am still searching for an IWB holster that I really like for it. May have to get a Tucker "The Answer" before much longer.
  6. Thanks for the kind words, and welcome! Jump right on in on any conversations that you like.
  7. My pleasure. Some tweaks like that one are very easy to do so I can move on them fast. Others (like those databases) are going to take a little more time.
  8. Good suggestion. I just whipped up a button for that in Photoshop and made it part of every post. You should see it right below this text. Let me think some on the other part. Maybe an "Events and Get Togethers" forum would be a solution to this and to other things as well.
  9. This is poll. Which do you prefer and why? Concealed Carry Open Carry Both depending on situation Worth noting is the fact that Tennessee presently issues a handgun permit. Not a concealment permit, just a handgun permit. This means that you can carry open or you can carry concealed as long as you possess the permit. Most permit classes favor concealment for a variety of reasons, of course, but we can get into those as this thread evolves.
  10. From the description.... Looks like it's switchable. Hornet Handler has the non-Laser version on his XD45C. The LED seems to have a bluish tint to the light, but it was pretty bright in the range at On Target.I have the Insight M3X on mine.
  11. Just wondering if anyone here uses CCI aluminum cased ammo and if so, what your opinions of it are. I'm thinking about buying some 9mm and 45acp for range purposes. It's a lot cheaper than brass ammo for sure and I figure aluminum will be easy on the extractors, unlike that cheap steel cased Russian crap. Thanks!
  12. Welcome! I've got family in MD. Nice place to visit, wouldn't want to live there.
  13. Welcome, Lonnie! Now if only Springfield would issue an XD40 Compact (not sub) like they did with the XD45.
  14. Welcome! TGO is going to be what we make of it, so post away!
  15. Welcome to TGO, Len. Happy to see you here!
  16. Al, very glad to have you here and thanks for your past service to the country in both roles.
  17. I'd say that anytime the government leaves a loophole in a law, you can always count on them using that slack to hang you with rather than exonerate you if a situation ever went bad. I tend to follow J.York's mentality regarding metal detectors in cases like this... but don't take that as any sort of official TGO stance on the subject.
  18. Glad to have you here with us! The way we hope to do the databases is fairly simple, really, and I hope it will allow the data to remain current. Anyone may add an entry but the entry will be flagged as unverified. A moderator will verify the entry and then flag it as verified. Moderators will be able to edit or remove data as necessary. Data will be searchable by city, county and location name.
  19. I think we should turn it into a glass parking lot.
  20. Hornet Handler has those sights on his XD. I got to look at it this past Sunday at the range and was very impressed with how bright they are. Good choice!
