  1. Hello all. Just trying to have a plan laid out. About 70% of the time when I go to purchase a firearm I get denied, then I appeal it. Then 80% of the time it gets over turned and approved. 20% of the time is a conditional proceed. Ok, that said I'm going next month when I get home I'm planning on getting my ccw. I'm confident in my ability to pass the class, but what do I do if I'm denied the ccw? Is there an appeal process to that? Also I'm an over the road truck driver with hazmat endorsement so I have to pass that background check as well. Just had some issues in Maryland 18 years ago but they never answer the phone when TBI calls to get clarification that the case was dropped.
  2. I have a sar arms b6p compact 9mm. It is a cz75 clone. Never had a single failure. In the price range I think it would be difficult to find a better pistol if you are buying new.
  3. The good news is that I could pull up my criminal history in front of the ffl, after reviewing it they were comfortable with transferring the firearm to me. But I still need to get this "vaf packet" to help me in the future. If anyone would answer a phone it would help speed that process up.
  4. I almost forgot, thank you oh shoot.

  6. I am a dumbass the didn't proofread my response, it was supposed to say letter. Oh shoot I sent you the "letter" which never gave a clear reason for the denial that I could find. Thank you for your time and help. Happy Easter to everyone.
  7. I would gladly post a picture of the latter sent to me but I cannot resize it to fit the 2mb size limit.
  8. The reason for my denial was Maryland refused to respond to repeated atemps by nics for clarification of case status. Basically because Maryland is anti gun they refuse to help nics to do their job correctly and efficiently. The vaf packet is supposed to somehow by pass this by keeping my information on hand and instead of putting my ss# on the background check form I would put an unique pin number that would be issued to me.
  9. I haven't bought a firearm in almost 10 years, the last time I resided in Florida and I would delayed from time to time but never denied. Recently I bought a pistol in Morristown and the transfer was denied. I appealed the decision immediately. Not quite 3 weeks later they were given a conditional proceed, in which they did transfer the pistol to me. I am a CDL holder with hazmat and tanker endorsements (don't utilize them though) and my only arrests were well over 15 years ago, both misdemeanors and non violent. The lady working at the gun store suggested that a get a vaf packet but she didn't have one, she also could not tell me how to obtain one. So I have done a little bit digging in the internet and called the numbers I could find with no avail. I'm not really sure what this packet is really supposed to do or how to get one. HELP!!!! LOL.
  10. Thank you for the replies, and no I don't plan on driving into other states with my guns. Because of my occupation I tend to have really weird hours, it is not uncommon for me to go grocery shopping, or go do laundry at 2-4am. Because of that I would like to be armed. 99% of the time I would remain to unarmed because I don't want the hassle of it. But I don't want to be a sitting duck either. I just wanted to be sure I am not breaking any laws by having with me on those rare occasions. Again thank you for the replies.
  11. I am an over the road truck driver and don't get home very often. Because of this I recently had my wife go and get her carry permit because at 50 and having muscular dystrophy she is a very easy pray for the bad guys, so first off congratulations to her. That said the owner of the gun store claimed I can legally carry a loaded gun in my personal vehicle without a permit. As it is an extension of the castle doctrine. I am unable to find current law online and what I have found is somewhat confusing or very out of date. So next logical step in my personal opinion was to call my local police department and ask them about, well according to Morristown city police department the answer was short and sweet. Not unless I want to go to jail or possibly be shot by an officer in a traffic stop. Now the person I spoke with was nice and polite, and in no way being an ass. I am simply shorting a 5 minute conversation into one sentence. I have tried 5 times to get my ccw permit but my company can never seen to get me home in time for it. Not always their fault but it's definitely been an pain in the rear and a huge aggravation. The actual code would be great, thank you all in advance.
