  1. Retired military and former emergency medical. I prefer the CAT by virtue of quality and familiarity. However the SOF-T and SAM-XT apply in the same manner as the CAT, are high quality, and can also be applied one handed, so they're perfectly acceptable. As FrankD noted, there is a problem with counterfeit CATs out there. NA Rescue does operate a store of their own on Amazon you can use, or you can buy from them directly at www.narescue.com to be sure you're getting a genuine CAT. Prices are pretty much the same either way, so I go to narescue.com. There's a brief comparison you can see at https://www.offgridweb.com/gear/pocket-preps-tourniquet-buyers-guide/.
  2. My safe is still in the store. Someday I may be able to actually get it. But on the bright aide, I don't have to worry about heaters or desiccants.
  3. I love my SP101, and my wife's Police Service Six is the sweetest shooting gun I've ever fired. Always thought I'd get a GP100 some day, but never seem to get around to it. Too busy buying Glocks I guess.
  4. Went there last summer. Won't go again.
  5. We lived in the country for 18 years and lost power a lot, so we ended up with a 'portable' 8.5kw Generac. Our new house has a built-in 36kw Generac that powers the entire house on natural gas, and it's already been used twice in the year since we moved in. The portable doesn't see much use anymore, except for being taken to outdoor events where no power is available. Currently not even functional until I install a new battery.
  6. How did you get a picture of my cat?
  7. Don't know Dave's and don't even know where Galloway is, but I agree with bobsguns that mods on a Glock beyond the trigger and accuracy are more window dressing than anything else, particularly on a gun that's already customized. I would add that an extended slide release is a very good mod on many of their models though, and possibly some minor grip modifications, depending on your taste.

    Glock 45

Part of the problem with Glocks is there is no such thing as "a" Glock 19, "a" Glock 30, etc. They often change with generations or modifications, sometimes significantly. I'm a longtime fan of .45 caliber, but I still like to shoot my wife's G26. That gun is what originally converted me to Glocks in fact. I'd never been a Glock fan either until she got that. I was a big Smith and Ruger fan, and still am. I love their revolvers, and still have some. I originally settled on a G30, and then a dealer asked me to hold a G30SF instead to see what I thought. The difference was surprising. Even though it was very hard to see it, you could definitely feel it in your hand. Having later gotten the chance to handle numerous Glocks of different generations, I found that the same gun model can sometimes be significantly more or less suitable for your purposes depending on what generation they are, or what mods have been installed. That's one of the wonderful discoveries I've had with Glocks. They are so easy to modify and customize. A simple sleeve over the grip can dramatically alter how they feel, and I've installed a number of mods that have my wife even more happy with that G26 than she was before. The mods on my G30SF have altered the functionality, but not the feel. I'm still perfectly happy with that. I still plan to try other Glocks though, like the G30S or G36, and will likely end up buying one of them (can never have too many guns). But don't make the mistake of handling or shooting "a" G19, "a" G30, "a" G23, and assume they're all alike. While some are, many models don't fit that description at all. Even without mods, the way the same model gun feels in your hand can change quite a bit from generation to generation.
  9. It should be noted this isn't the same thing as the annual meetings & exhibits event that was cancelled in Nashville. It's the annual member's meeting only. Unless of course things change again between now and then.
  10. Been one heck of a long time, but the house should be completed this month (fingers crossed). Anybody familiar with Tennessee Academy of Firearms in Manchester? I want to get some tactical training for the wife and myself.
  11. Hey, guys. The name's Bob in case that wasn't obvious from my username. We currently live in Ohio but have several properties in Tennessee, and we'll be moving to Tullahoma as soon as our house sells here. My wife and I are both retired Air Force, which is why we're in Ohio. This was her last duty station when she retired. She's originally from Massachusetts and I was born and raised in Mississippi. I'm a life member of NRA, and a member of various other organizations not associated with firearms. Our property in Tullahoma is in an airpark adjacent to the airport, so I can have a hangar in my back yard and taxi right out to the runway from there. Unfortunately I won't be able to just shoot off the back porch like I can here, but there are some good ranges nearby. I'm a certified Emergency Medical Responder, but I haven't been active in that since I broke my back in 2013. Whether I decide to continue that in Tennessee depends on how my back progresses and whether or not there's a volunteer agency in Tullahoma that wants me. I'm a ham radio operator but I'm not the kind that spends hours talking to people in far flung places. My interest is mainly in disaster response and supporting local public service events. I'm the author of the Condensed Guide To Ohio Concealed Carry Laws. You can view it on handgunlaw.us if you're interested. I have numerous firearms of various different types, but other than for home/self defense purposes I generally just shoot for fun. Except under rare circumstances that might dictate otherwise, my daily carry gun is a Glock 30SF. I probably won't post a lot here until after we move, but I look forward to many fun and informative discussions.
