  1. You might want to try another power brick if you have one or can borrow it from someone.  Sometimes their output drops to enough to light the system up but won't have the current to do anything.   If you can separate the powder measure from the scale, you can check if the scale starts working OK. That could mean either the power brick is not putting out enough power or the powder measure if the problem.   Michael
  2. As already stated, the GP11 is some of the best ammo for this gun.  Since your semi local, might want to check out Wideners in Johnson City as they have some in stock.  Need to order on their website and pickup or have it sent to you.  Sportsman's Guide as well as AIM have the ammo too.   Other than this, most people I know that shoot this gun reload their own.  For short range general plinking, light loads work great (110grn bullet).  This round is pretty easy to reload for and brass can be purchased from Grafs.   Enjoy, it is an accurate and nicely made rifle.   Michael
  3. I picked up some from Grafs and they did state they were steel core with copper jacket.  Haven't loaded them yet so I don't know how they will do.  From what I read on the web, they should do fine.   Michael
  4. I was looking through the Bargain Cave and stumbled on RAM SHOT powder. Cabelas is selling 1lb of Zip and Silhouette powder for $11.90. The HazMat fee is $20 but if you order $99 or more, you can get free shipping (does not cover the HazMat) so that helps offset the HazMat charge. Use code WGIFTS for the free shipping but it does expire on 11/29. Not sure how long the sale on RAM SHOT lasts. If you can get together with another reloader or need a bunch of powder, this is a good deal. I haven't used either so its not an endorsement, only passing on what looks like a deal. Michael
  5. I agree with the Hornady fmj 55grn bullets. FYI, Midway USA has them on special Saturday for $68 for 1000. Best part of using these is that if you like them, they are in current production and available from multiple locations. Michael
  6. I have a Cherokee full size 9mm from CDNN and really like it. Well made and accurate. Have only put about 50 rounds through it but for me, it is a keeper. Feels good in the hand and easy to clean. I think the only thing about it is getting mags. CDNN does sell them too. No experience with the Centurion but have been trying to resist the need to "investigate". Michael
  7. I second Tri-Cities Gun Depot. They usually have a couple in stock. Just an FYI but you can purchase firearms from Widener's if you live in Tennessee and pick it up at the store. Just pay the $10 back ground check. No C&R required unless you want them to ship it to you. Michael
  8. I have been thinking about this type of purchase as well and would love to hear what owners of both rifles have to say. I would like the CZ as well but the price is a little much. Price wise, the Rem 799 would be a much better purchase. From my research, most say the CZ is a more refined rifle but as far as accuracy goes, it appears to be hit or miss because of the ammo most people shoot (Wolf / military). Michael

    henry 22

My neighbor has one of the Henry lever actions and it is very accurate. The action is smooth and very impressive. I have this on my wish list. When pricing the rifles, make sure you check the overall length of the rifle. There is a youth version that is a couple inches shorter and cheaper than the normal size rifle. His rifle has the round barrel which is lighter than the octogonal barrel version. Out of the box, the groupings were about at 1/2" at 25 yards with iron sites. Michael

    Heritage arms?

My neighbor picked one up last year and we have fun shooting it. His is accurate and looks like the picture above. I was thinking about picking one up too. He hasn't had any issues or problems. Low cost gun with low cost ammo equals lots of fun!! Michael

    Info on VZ 58s

I have one of the CzechPoint VZ 58's and really enjoy it. I believe it is more accurate than the AK I have shot and eats the same ammo. Very easy to clean and maintain. As was stated above, different internals than an AK. Very nicely made though. It does use special mags so you can't just use AK mags. Need the vz 58's as they have a hold open feature and lock in differently. Non-compliant mags are cheaper than the compliant ones from CzechPoint. From what I have heard, the CZ sold gun and the CzechPoint are the same gun. CzechPoint just sells them for less. I don't have any data on this but just what I read and was told at my gun dealer when I picked mine up. He ordered the CZ's for someone else and said they looked identical to my CzechPoint. (Czechpoint USA - distributor of Sa vz. 58 rifles and Sa vz. 61 Scorpions) Michael
  12. If you need some ammo cans (50 cal), the Northern Tool store in Johnson City had a pallet of them on the floor near the bargin bins. First time I have seen them available in Northern so I'm not sure if this is a limited time/stock thing. Only thing I didn't like about them was someone spray painted over the lettering in brown paint. I was able to remove most of the paint with Orange hand cleaner so they are almost original. Price was $9.99 each.
  13. +1 I picked up a 16" heavy barrel Del-ton a couple months ago and it is well worth the price. Shoots well and have not had a single problem. Fit and finish is top notch. Only thing I added to it for now is a carry handle as it is a flat top. I also have a 20" kit on order with them, so yes, I would buy again. Michael

    kel tec p11

Nice score on the trade. I have a Keltec P32 for CCW and love it. Trigger pull is long but as stated, adds to the safety factor when carrying. The only problem I had was after about 150 rounds through it, I had to disassemble the extractor to clean it up. It would eject a spent casing no problem but trying to eject a live round would not work, it would hang up in the extractor. Since it is a small gun, hard to use a finger to get the round out but since the cleaning, works like new. Congrats. Michael
  15. Thanks for the quick answers. I picked up a box of Truball rifled slugs to try. Michael
