Welcome. You'll find a very different culture here about guns. Of course, there folks here that aren't so nice, though nothing like California. How can a place that is so liberal have so many jerks.
Also, thank you for your service.
It was my honor to serve with the finest fighting men on the planet.
Funny thing, real estate agents have told me that some of the areas I'd looked at were "too gun friendly" LoL. After living in California there is no such thing. I've been wanting a Colt Mustang for my wife for years. It's not on the "DOJ Approved Roster of Safe Handguns" but a Hi Point is. Seems Hi Point doesn't mind paying the state bribe to be on the list, but Colt (Ruger, Smith and Wesson too) refuse to pay tribute to the California Communists.

Thank you. It's a culture shock going from most people being jerks, to everyone I've met so far is very nice. It can't be 100% nice folks, but that's my experience so far.

I use USAA. If a local bank charges me a fee, USAA refunds it to me directly into my checking account at the end of that month. I also have received cash in my checking account for using the real estate agent they recommend (from a big list, it's most reputable agents in larger markets). Checks for deposit are just endorsed, scanned (or photographed with my phone) and deposited instantly, no waiting for it to clear. I've only found an issue with depositing cash, a small account in a local credit union has been my fix for that. All in all, my favorite bank so far and I've had bank accounts for about 50 years.

Former Marine, constant tinkerer, retired early (staffing cuts) from the oilfields. I've been tinkering with guns for 40 years (a little bit restricted in California). Finally decided to start charging people and discovered no one changed their mind about me fixing their guns even if I charged them. Most even said they'd ship them to me if I move. Got the money to do it by retiring early so I'm leaving Nazifornia and heading for the beauty and freedom of North Eastern Tennessee. I'll be building a store to open (hopefully) by January, 2019. Seems to be a shortage of gunstores in the area we've been looking at.

I've had their insurance asking as I've had my other accounts there. I only have liability (not full coverage) and when an idiot made a u-turn in front of me from a merge lane, they got the other insurance company to pay for a rental car until I was paid AND my truck was fixed. With MetLife as soon as they found out they didn't have to pay, they were done with me to the point once as soon as I mentioned the accident the agent responded with "we are not responsible for costs connected to the event, and be aware, your premium WILL increase." And then hung up on me.
