  1. I've said many times before: The biggest message we send buying in quantity at these prices/ times is one to the manufactures and retailers, "Yes, we will actually pay that much for ammo!"
  2. Haven't, but found this: http://forum.accurateshooter.com/threads/7mm-tcu-load-data.3941521/ Also, looks like a 9" twist would be preferable for the heavier bullets. You likely know that already, but thought I'd add it just in case.
  3. A friend of mine is looking for a nice (probably folding) knife as a gift for his father in law. He's thinking about a Benchmade, and I'm wondering if there are other options that he might consider which don't have quite that amount of "brand name tax". Autos really aren't an option in this case, and it likely won't be shipped anywhere for maintenance/ sharpening. Any brand suggestions you all have would be appreciated!
  4. Well, yeah! That's why's there are three more generations!
  5. So then does he have the right of way if he's over a crosswalk?
  6. Really? It's pretty common up here when you're outside the more urban/ suburban areas. No "regular" beer, wine, or sprits though. For that, you have to go to the offsale. (Which is frequently pretty much the same physical place, with just an open door and wall seperating them).
  7. The -'06 is a very established round, and the volume of rifles chambered in it suggest it'll probably never go away. I (half) jokingly tell people that I like to be able to find my Three Bs at the gas station: bullets, beer, and batteries. The .30-'06 definitely qualifies. In terms of range and scope, if you're sticking to under 200 yds a 2-7 will be serviceable. Get it mounted and go have fun!
  8. Start around 200 thousandths off the top of the barrel to fit the bell. Don't worry if you get into the bore, that's just early porting.
  9. Oh, it'll be a magnum caliber before we're done with it, don't you worry!
  10. Some of us are saving the good stuff for our car repair needs... And deer stands!
  11. Alternately, you could wrap a drill in really coarse sand paper and hog out the bottom ring, then fill the top with JB Weld...
  12. Looks like a 30mm tube? And you're using that rail for elevation, right? (You wouldn't change to thinner bases?) What is that height? A quick look shows about 0.82" to scope center is about as thin as you'll get.
  13. Look for a used Savage 110 with a laminate stock and accutrigger, then make sure the barrel is floated. I'm not totally positive that one is available in .30-06 with laminate, but I'd rule that out before looking elsewhere. Failing that, I'd pick another 110 with accutrigger.
  14. Whoawhoawhoa! Now that just ain't right. Can't be!
  15. That's kind of my point though: This little kid got national coverage (at least on CNN's main page, for multiple days) but the black kids in Chicago are only part of the tally, if that's even reported. All the talk about how the mainstream media seek to portray white people in a bad light while glossing over the faults of non-white people is kind of overblown, in my opinion. Yes, there absolutely are biases, bit we all have them and I really don't think there's a concerted push from the mainstream media to make white people look bad.

    AMERICA!

Oofdah. I kind of remember that one. I've also heard that the locals up in Alaska watch to see which little dog fresh off a cruise ship gets carried away.
  17. Lots of comments regarding how the media would be up in arms if this had been a black kid. But, I've seen a lot of "XX number of people shot and killed in Chicago last weekend" stories, and that's as far as they go. I'm sure some of those people have been little kids, but you don't see their name or their picture or anything else about the shooting. Just the total deaths for the weekend. I'm sure we can all agree that the media are always doing a less-than-perfect job, just like all the rest of us. And, while more air time might help in some way to decrease the violence in a city like Chicago, I suspect that more exposure for this particular story isn't likely to prevent a lunatic from killing anyone in the future.

Less funny, probably a more useful lesson in wild animal interaction for most of the population: https://www.fox21online.com/2020/08/13/bald-eagle-attacks-woman-along-north-shore-it-was-terrifying/
  19. To save on space, I plan to load my TP into my shiny new mags and bury everything in the back yard!
  20. Do you all think CNN is pretty mainstream? Pretty liberal? This story is on the main page of their website...

  22. That dude had style! Pin stripe pants and thigh-high boots... Man, no way could I pull that off.
  23. @Defender the Federal Premium loads are worth considering as well. Very high quality.
