  1. I had similar thoughts to Grayfox. Passing judgement on a firearm/ammo until you've had a chance to test isn't beneficial.
  2. The biggest concern for a home user is that companies on the Internet are often lax in updating/patching their software. So it's very likely that some end-user private data may be exposed. My advice would be to avoid using a debit card online and not use echeck/bank draft either. As much as I detest credit cards, they usually have much better protection in case of fraud. Use a credit card if you must make online purchases.
  3. If you are going to vacuum seal a large quantity of items, you may run into where the vacuum sealer begins to overheat. This is especially true where you are sealing both ends of the bag from a roll and/or double-sealing to insure the seal doesn't leak. I bought one of these to do the additional seals on my vacuum bags: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0077TDLNA/ It cut out the wait time (from an overheating vacuum sealer) when processing a large amount of meat.
  4. Apache is the most used web server (which runs web sites) in the world. Many of those use Log4j to log error messages. As an end user, you don't have control over what's in the cloud and have to trust the vendors to patch the web server. You can also find web servers in internet connected appliances like routers and TVs. So it's probably a good idea to update them. On the PC side of things, unless you are a developer, you normally won't have Log4j running on a computer.
  5. I really like my S&W Victory. Of course I have made a "few" changes to it: Tandom Kross Hive grip Tandom Kross match trigger Tandom Kross Halo charging handle Volquartsen rail Vortex Venom Red dot Volquartsen I-Fluted stainless steel barrel with compensator Volquartsen Edge extractor
  6. Something else you might want to consider is the Leupold DeltaPoint Micro. It does not require the slide to be milled as it replaces the rear sight. In addition to being a red dot, it also functions as a rear sight so you do still have a manual backup. One of the things I really like is that it works with my existing pancake holsters with no modifications.
  7. I believe the Rossi is the same as the Mossberg 702 Plinkster and can use the same mags... including the 25-round mag. The only difference between the 2 rifles is the stock. Check the follower. Some mags came out of the factory with small burrs on them.
  8. Members in east TN can run by Smokey Mountain Knife Works and get CCI SV for $3.69 for a box of 50: https://www.smkw.com/cci-22lr-std-velocity-50pack-box That's 7.38 cents per round (before taxes).
  9. Rob, Here's the first review I read on the Sidekick: https://www.thetruthaboutguns.com/gun-review-diamondback-sidekick-22-revolver/
  10. Brownells has the Ruger Wrangler on sale for $164 (using the code "TAG"): https://www.brownells.com/firearms/handguns/revolver/wrangler-22lr-4-62--prod128021.aspx
  11. MSRP on a Single Six (convertible) is $759 and the MSRP on the Ruger Wrangler is $269.
  12. Rob, I've not seen one in person yet, but I've watched several reviews online and they are positive.
  13. Better price than what I expected from what I've seen online. Fortunately I stocked on inexpensive (4.5 to 5 cents per round shipped for Aguila SV and CCI SV), and some not so inexpensive (i.e. Eley Tenex), 22LR before prices shot up.
  14. Sorry for the long delay. I have used the Waltz die on several types of ammo and did not note any accuracy increase on average. Example - 100 CCI Standard Velocity: But you can use the die to make some rather nasty hollow points. Left to right - CCI SV, Aguila Interceptor, Aguila Interceptor opened up to a large hollow point.
  15. Leroy, If you don't already have a bare 10/22 to start with and plan on customizing anyway, a Brownells 10/22 receiver and Ruger completion kit (bolt, charging handle, pins) is a cost efficient way to start your build. But search around and you might find a complete rifle (used) for not a lot more. I used the Brownells receiver to build a 10/22 pistol as it had never been configured as a rifle and didn't want to pay the price of a Ruger Charger since I was going to replace many of the parts anyway. I've not had and major issues with it in several thousands of rounds.
  16. Mind clarifying what the "throw BIF" means?
  17. For a light-weight (free-hand rifle) this started life as Thompson Center TCR/22 that went through *several* revisions over time. It now has a Kidd 2-stage (3oz/3oz) trigger which is very touchy... which I like on this rifle. The Fab Defense folding stock isn’t the lightest possible, but works well and is reasonably light. Not the most accurate, but is lightweight, it has a Whistle Pig barrel. You won't be stacking rounds in the same hole, but with reasonable ammo (CCI SV) it's capable of your target grouping from a bench. Optic is a Leupold VX-Freedom 1.5-4x20 with Aero Precision Ultralight mount. You can build a lighter 10/22, but I don't think the nominal weight difference / cost would be worth it.
  18. I need to clarify something. If you are going to seriously compete in matches, you want a bolt gun. However, I found the 10/22 to be a lot more fun to shoot. Given the choice, I picked one of the 10/22s when shooting NRL22.
  19. Take a Bergara B14R/BMR, drop in a TriggerTech Diamond trigger (flat trigger is my preference), add a good optic, and call it a day. I would suggest the steel barrel on any Bergara. I bought one of the BXR (10/22 clone) with the carbon fiber barrel and had to return the rifle twice to get a decent barrel.
  20. When you add all the other tools/toys (i.e. Labradar), it can get rather expensive. But so can a 22LR bolt gun. Take a look at the Vudoo rifles: https://vudoogunworks.com/ A less expensive bolt action that still uses the Remington 700 footprint is the Bergara B14R. I have one of those and it's very accurate.
  21. I've built more than my fair share of 10/22 rifles. I started out modifying existing rifles (i.e. Thompson Center TCR/22) and have built some from the ground up. Examples: Kidd guts/receiver including a Kidd 2-stage (8oz/8oz) trigger, Victor Titan stock, and a Proof Research carbon fiber barrel. Using Burris XTR rings so I can bottom out the Athlon Midas TAC scope for shooting out to 500 yards. Some of the shots from the first day with it: That rifle originally had a Fedderson stainless (polished) barrel on it that was just as accurate as the Proof Research. It now has a front rail mounded so I can use my Ckye Pod bi-pod on it. Next rifle has the same (Kidd) guts but with a Kidd chassis and a Feddersen barrel. I had to dremel in order to get the MPA grip on the chassis. The grip forces you to only use the pad of your finger helping consistency.
  22. I know one local (Lawrence County) kid that could really use some 22LR ammo. He shoots competition and to put food on the family table. I'm arranging to give him a whole brick. Anyone know another kid that could use some 22LR?
