  1. Welcome. I did a lot of work at a few hospitals out there. Eat at Pals. Haha
  2. From the wording, it looks like there's a grandfather clause...not that it makes it any better. The big thing is that we can no longer buy or even sell or standard capacity magazines. That's the part that chaps me as well. This is going to be like Clinton all over again if it passes...ARs are going to skyrocket...it's stupid... Introduced in House (02/15/2019) Assault Weapons Ban of 2019 This bill makes it a crime to knowingly import, sell, manufacture, transfer, or possess a semiautomatic assault weapon (SAW) or large capacity ammunition feeding device (LCAFD). The prohibition does not apply to a firearm that is (1) manually operated by bolt, pump, lever, or slide action; (2) permanently inoperable; (3) an antique; or (4) a rifle or shotgun specifically identified by make and model. The bill also exempts from the prohibition the following, with respect to a SAW or LCAFD: importation, sale, manufacture, transfer, or possession related to certain law enforcement efforts, or authorized tests or experiments; importation, sale, transfer, or possession related to securing nuclear materials; and possession by a retired law enforcement officer. The bill permits continued possession, sale, or transfer of a grandfathered SAW, which must be securely stored. A licensed gun dealer must conduct a background check prior to the sale or transfer of a grandfathered SAW between private parties. The bill permits continued possession of, but prohibits sale or transfer of, a grandfathered LCAFD. Newly manufactured LCAFDs must display serial number identification. Newly manufactured SAWs and LCAFDs must display the date of manufacture. The bill requires law enforcement agencies to be notified when a prohibited person attempts to purchase a grandfathered SAW. It also allows a state or local government to use Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant Program funds to compensate individuals who surrender a SAW or LCAFD under a buy-back program.
  3. Thank you! Yes, it's nice to no longer have to worry about a preban magazine...and now I can get standard capacity mags without the "preban" markup!
  4. That's a pretty good visual description of the differences. I do think, as mentioned above, that a 22mag may be better for those nests, but I still think that this would be a fun rifle to have for options if you have some land. It has it's uses, and as I said before, I don't have a need...this is more of a, "I love .22s and lever guns." type of a thing. I also like the difference is decibels between this and a .410. The fact that it's much quieter is good for in closer housed neighborhoods.
  5. I don’t know, I would have thought If it was, they would have listed it as such. Don’t you think? But now that’s a good question...
  6. Right?!! At that price, it’s almost like they are giving them away!!! if they end up putting this on the Golden Boy line, it would look good next to the .22LR.
  7. Ok, I can’t be the only one excited about this rifle coming out. Granted, I don’t live on a farm, and need a good snake gun. But I’m kind of a .22 whore and loves me some lever guns. Its listed with an MSRP of 420, so I’m guessing we’ll see it closer to 350. And when my wife asks me how many guns do I really need? I answer, “I don’t know, all of them?” https://www.henryusa.com/shotgun/garden-gun-smoothbore-22/
  8. Thanks everyone for the warm welcome. I’m looking forward to getting to know all y’all.
  9. Nice, I lived in North Attleboro. I miss Wendell’s and Tex Barry’s. Haha. Other than my kids, that may be about it. My office is in Waltham and I sure don’t miss the traffic...2 hours to go 20 miles. Worse if the Pats were playing or if there was snow. I have family our in Knoxville and such...it’s beautiful out there. Spent a lot of time plinking our in the woods of my Uncle’s land when I was a kid.
  10. I agree with you, it doesn't make good business sense when there's over 400 AR manufactures out there. I used to live in New England, and know people working for Colt, S&W, Kahr, NEF, etc... I heard from a guy at Colt that said that why make a product that doesn't sell in this flooded market? They have other firearms that sell well and they can focus on those, revolvers, 1911, etc... The lines are expensive to run and the LEO/Military contracts are fine enough to use those lines for those markets. As you said, they have been having financial issues for quite some time, so why waste money on something that's not making them money. That's what a business is there for, to create a product that will sell, if not, they get out, or change directions.
  11. Hello everyone, I just found his forum here and wanted to send a hello to the group. I'm from Germantown, outside of Memphis...ended up in MA outside of Boston for about 18 years with work, and after the divorce, decided I had to move back home. I'm lucky that my job allows me to pretty much work anywhere....the cost of living was too much up there... I've been shooting since I was a kid, I still have the Winchester 190 my grandfather passed down to me when I was 6. Up in MA, I was on the BOD of my gun club for over 10 years. I was active with GOAL (the local gun activist group in MA) and the protecting our rights up in MA, and I'm a Life Member of the NRA. I used to help with our club's Jr Marksmanship program, and got my kids involved when they were young. You know, our future and all. I don't really know much about what's going on here in TN anymore....so I figured this would be a good place to figure out laws, rights, issues that are important to us here in TN. You want to know about gun laws in MA? I can tell you all about them....here, not so much. But that was because I taught for the State of MA and UT for ones CCW permits. Had to take yearly law primers for MA law to keep up with what I needed to teach students to keep them out of trouble. The laws up there are not friendly as all. I also used to shoot SASS and have thought about getting into Three Gun or IDPA...but just never made the jump. haha My current wife and I have moved from East Memphis to Germantown to get the little one back into good schools....so I'm going to be looking to sell a few things down the road that are just sitting around and taking up space in the house, garage, and my safes. I look forward to meeting folks on here....and maybe I can make a few friends that have some good places to shoot. I've only been out a few times in the few years I've been here...and only to the range in Bartlett. I miss shooting outside as there just wasn't public ranges in MA...as most of you can imagine. Anyway, thanks for letting me ramble on and I look forward to meeting a few of you, learning, and getting back into being more active with the culture.
