  1. Another vote for the RCBS RC. Only press I have owned and only one I will probably need. My son will get it when I am gone I am sure!
  2. Ditto on Strategic. I put my name on the waiting list and was called approx. 10 months later. Never met Tony and I am also a regular joe. Not a "brotherhood" just a great range with limited amount of openings each year to join. Keeps the crowds down. I checked with Tony during my waiting period and he was great and responded immediately. He offered to try to move me up but I declined as to be fair to others. Charlie Haffner's range is great as well.
  3. +1 on the Fury Carry Solutions Kydex holsters out of Maryville. Just received mine last week. Awesome quality, different colors available, fits my SIG P320 M17 (w/red dot) like a glove and awesome customer service. Mine took approx. 4 weeks to get and they let you know the lead time on each holster so you know up front before you order. I also have Blade Tech and Crossbreed Kydex holsters which have been solid as well.
  4. Welcome! I have a Simply Rugged leather for my IWB 1911 carry and also use a Crossbreed Kydex Super Tuck at times. Both have been very good.
  5. Just returned from Gunsite Academy in AZ (250 Pistol Class). Had a classroom session with the Gunsmith regarding cleaning and lubing. Very experienced Gunsmith. He recommended getting a small hobby type air compressor to clean mags as well as finish cleaning pistols before lubing. He said he just cleans the mags out with air. Wipes down the outside but blows the inside of the mags clean with air. Does not take them apart nor lubes the spring, just compressed air. Very useful after doing speed reloading in the dry, sandy, conditions in Arizona.
  6. Started using Hi Tek coated lead bullets for reloading. My new go to bullet for reloading .45's. No issues, very consistent weight and size, and good price. Using 200 gr, .452 SWC for target/practice. Anyone cast and coat their own? Just curious how difficult the coating process is. Gary
  7. Thank you all for the warm welcome! Went in the Navy right out of High School. They told me submariners make more money......hazard pay. Joined and never looked back. I did a few West Pac Deployments so I did get to "see the world" but only when we hit port! The question I always get is how do you deal with being submerged for long periods in cramped qtrs. They do many tests before they assign you to subs to ensure you are not claustrophobic believe me! I love .45's as I had to carry one for years when I stood topside watch on the sub. Got to know it quite well! Looking forward to Gunsite very much. Been waiting a year to go. Thanks Again!
  8. Just joined up and wanted to check in. I live in Mid Tn, a bit south of Nashville. US Navy Vet (Submarine Service for 8 years), Just joined Strategic Edge Range in Chapel Hill after my waiting period. Heading to Gunsite Academy in Arizona in Dec for the week long 250 pistol class. I reload and love .45's (have Colt, Dan Wesson, Les Baer, Springfield, etc). Also hog hunt in east Tennessee. Looking to retire next year so the wife and I can travel a bit and get into some competitive shooting as a hobby. That about sums it up! Looking forward to learn from the experienced folks on here. Best, Gary
