1. I shopped that same market and decided on a 2013 Ford Edge SEL AWD exactly three years ago. The reason I know it was exactly three years ago is that my factory warranty runs out in just a few days. Is it weird that I feel kinda cheated because I haven't had any warranty claims? I did intentionally avoid the "MyFord Touch" option because that seemed to be the reason behind most consumer satisfaction complaints I'd read. I haven't missed it.  I've been pretty impressed with the vehicle and have no complaints. It's a good vehicle and I'd buy it again.
2. Q: How can I reduce the amount of mail I receive from the NRA? A: Simply email us at membership@nrahq.org or dial 800-NRA-3888 and request to be placed on the "Do Not Promote" list. This will significantly reduce the amount of mail you receive without affecting important mailings, magazine service, or your membership renewal.
3. Excellent.   I've suggested this website to semi-closed minded anti-gun women with pretty good results. Lots of relevant articles and resources offered from a female perspective.
4. If it doesn't need to be custom or "anything fancy" why not just use stock cabinets from Lowes or Home Depot? Something like this?
5. Yeah, it appears that the TextAnywhere and Cerberus devices use Iridium.   They do have their own battery but apparently serve as a "repeater" and still rely on your existing phone for text messaging functions, addressing, etc. If so, you're going to at least lose that functionality when the phone dies. But I could be wrong, I don't have any experience with them.
6.   I use a SPOT personal locator beacon (PLB) but it's only one way messaging (you to them) and doesn't provide for free form text messages. Another PLB option that does permit two way text messaging (but still no voice) is the DeLorme InReach.   Ran across a couple other text options that appear to work with an existing device. I'm not familiar with these but I'd guess that useful battery life would be limited by your phone/tablet.   Text Anywhere   Cerberus
7. Walter State Community College used to offer a Handgun Carry Permit class through their community education department but I don't know if they still do. They did the academics on campus and then used the police range for live fire. You might give them a call if that location would be convenient for you.   As far as ranges to rent/shoot, I know of Sevier indoor Range in Sevierville, Tactical Advantage (Coal Creek Armory) in Knoxville, and Gunny's in Maryville. Although I don't understand it, it's apparently not politically feasible to open a gun range in Hamblen County.

9. Late to the party, I guess. Hope you all had a peaceful Veteran's Day yesterday.
10. Well done. Here's a timely reminder that an order of protection isn't really any protection at all.
11. Thank you, UncleJak!   It kind of sounds like everyone is showing up Saturday morning rather than Friday night...is that right? I'm "semi-local" and am available to help with the setup if needed and would also be happy to pick up any supplies that the group might need. Give me some ideas and I'd be glad to help out.
12. Is it too late to get in on this? Kind of last minute, I know.    I'm probably not prepared to teach anything but I'm up for learning. It looks like a beautiful weekend to get outdoors and meet some new folks.
13. I've got an ST1100 And a CB1100F that I've had since 1989
14.   You could just wait for the battery to go dead since it's accessible from the outside to change. That's my plan, anyway.   Winchester FAQ   5 - If my battery goes dead, will I lose my combination? No, you will not lose your combination. The combination is retained in the lock even after power is lost. Simply install a new battery and operate the lock in a normal manner. Make sure you only use a 9-volt ALKALINE ENERGIZER® or DURACELL® battery.
15.   Hmmm. I'm not so sure about that. As has been previously covered, you certainly can be charged without any bac measurement but I think that the ".04 private vehicle" thing is a widely believed urban legend. Anybody have a reference that says something different?   First link that came up   55-50-405.  Violations -- Penalties -- Driving under the influence.   (a)  (1) The commissioner shall suspend for at least one (1) year, a commercial motor vehicle operator who is found to have committed a first violation of:       (A) Driving a commercial motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance, or with a blood alcohol concentration (BAC) of four-hundredths of one percent (0.04 %) or greater;
