  1. The initial application fee may now be paid with cash, check or credit/debit card at the driver's license station.
  2. Ate at the one by Knoxville Center mall last night, didn't notice any obvious postings... but was distracted by the kiddies and realized later that I didn't really look very hard either....
  3. Just FYI - I drive by that building every week... There is a for lease sign in the window of that suite. It appears to have been empty for a while now. After reading the other thread linked above it looks like this store is a no go. --edit-- Apparently this outfit has moved to Neal Dr in Halls Crossroads (off Maynardville Hwy just North of Knoxville). Since it's only about 4 miles from my house I'll make a trip to see what I can see this week...
  4. Actually, I host the Knoxville Fire Department and Rural/Metro Fire Department feeds on that site. Very cool to hear action from all over... Knox County, Tennessee Live Police, Fire, and EMS Scanners
  5. The Knox County map is many years out of date, and only has detail in the 'county'. City of Knoxville is barebones...
  6. +1 - great facility, excellent learning atmosphere and instructor. I recommend taking a sack lunch as the facility is about 10 or so minutes form any 'fast' food. (But I only live about 10 minutes away anyway).
  7. Hit the 'Ye Olde Steak House' on Chapman Hwy between Knoxville and Sevierville for dinner (open at 4pm) - you won't regret it - best steaks in East Tn.
  8. KPD (and KCSD, KFD) are all on the Knox County 800 mHz Trunking system. Someome posted the freq's for the Knox County Fire Departments. Knox EMS is on 462.xxxx (I can't remember off the top of my head) Radioreference.com seems to be the most up to date and accurate scanning site I've seen around...

    I 26

NC has traditionally been slow on completing the interstate system. They had some of the last portions of I40. They have been working on the section through the Gorge at the state line pretty much since the day it opened. TN built I-181 some time ago (to the state line I think) where it changed to a US Hwy to Asheville. Once NC built I-26 from Asheville to the state line TN renumbered I-181 to I-26 up to the intersection with I-81.
  10. Both the Halls and East Towne Wal-Mart still have long guns on display for sale. They both have ammo, although it is in 'short supply' due to the run on ammo right now. I would imagine (IMHO) that the 'upper crust' has decided to buy their guns at Gander Mtn rather than Wal-Mart. It's still shocking to know that 2 years ago I was buying 100rd boxes of Winchester White Box 9mm target for 9.96, now it's 19.96 (when you can find it).
