I read about others claiming it was staged too. How nuts do you have to be to think anyone would allow someone to shoot your ear from 130 yds away? Shows how illogical and blinded by hate some people can be.

a reputedly bad shot without optics at that

I have not been one to hold the views of the southern preposterous lie center as anything of value in a very long time. Many years ago, they performed a valuable service, but have long since strayed from their original mission.

as far as the article is self goes, the author absolutely has a particular viewpoint that they are trying to push. That’s something one should always be aware of in all media. Still am of the view that there may be data of value to consider here, we shall have a better idea in the fullness of time.

Lastly, I don’t speak much about my faith because I do not want my weaknesses to push anybody away from drawing close to Christ. In this moment I feel compelled to speak up as a Christian though. Please accept these words with the humility and respect that they are offered.

It is difficult enough to discern the intentions of man in any individual instance where they are unable to tell them to you. I find it a very risky proposition to ascribe divine motives to any event that cannot be truly tested by scripture. In this particular case, it risks, deifying a mortal man, and putting a divine mandate upon his shoulders.

While I have openly expressed my feelings about President Trump, I am very grateful to God that he was not killed in this attempt on his life. I am praying for the injured, the dead, and their families. But please, to my brothers and sisters in Christ be very cautious before laying a divine imprint upon the events of Saturday.

the Bible tells us it rains on the just and unjust alike. It also says man has a prescribed time to die.

  3. Thanks for the linked articles guys. I wouldn't normally look at USA Today. their article was subdued somewhat and even stated they were using unsubstantiated and hacked info leaked by investigators. Not saying it wasn't factual, just that what was written earlier about waiting until the investigation is over bears repeating. The spokesperson did say the rifle was nothing special.

Pure speculation on my part: This was an exceptional young man who was ostracized by his peers and decided to show his father and the gun club how well he could shoot.

The comment on learning why is very relevant and a touchy subject to those of us here in middle Tennessee.

I was taking a nap and haven't done more than scan some feeds for info yet.  I'm already cringing at the word "sniper" being used.

also report from someone labeled as military stating an AR15 was essentially the same as an M4. The shooter was nowhere near being a sniper.

This is my thought. How in the world is there an unsecure rooftop ANYWHERE near this event? This is a MAJOR screw up

The report now says 200-300 yards with an AR15 style, 7 or 8 shots. Damn son, that's a fail where I was trained.

  6. This could go the other way from what is being speculated. Americans could see what all of the polarized extreme right and left are causing and decide we have had enough. One can still have hope.

I don't believe this but it is possible.

I believe him. I’m going to attempt to find the video I saw of people immediately pointing to the left when the shots rang out.

third witness believes she saw shooter in the bleachers. maybe they saw one of the victims amybe there were two shooters.

I based what I said on two eyewitness accounts. I wasn't there and the shooter was not on camera. Even so, why wouldn't there at the very least a drone overwatch looking for snipers on rooftops? I want to know what the range was.

  9. I will try to avoid the political end of this, I'm sure it will be covered.

Saw the vid in slow motion,

    1. Trump grabbed his ear and kept speaking, looked at his hand and put it back to his ear before SS floored him. Secret Service was slow.
    2. How did security allow someone to climb the back of the bleachers. Security was lax
    3. Secret Service agent infront of Trump after he was put into his vehicle couldn't find her holster.
    4. Shooter got off more than one shot.

Several people need more training. And before anyone brings it up, I know about stress and adrenalin and that is what we train for.

  10. I've had a few. I'll pick up a 605 at some point as a mate to my 608. Only issue I've encountered was a heavy trigger on a concealed hammer 357. Can't remember the model number of that. Never had an issue with breakage, timing, or accuracy from any of them. To make it clear, I haven't bought a new Taurus in 30 years so I missed the problem years.

My 608 was a used import, it's so smooth I have to believe it had some work done by a previous owner. It's heavy of course but the porting and weight make it pleasant even with full power 158gr slugs.

At the moment I have 3 PTs in 45 acp and am looking for more. Plan is to own one of every Taurus 45.

  11. Haven't enjoyed the theater since I was a kid. Once I got a drivers license and went to the drive in I never (almost) went back. Let's see, put on real clothes, sit in a dark room with people without a cigarette for 2 hours vs watch from my recliner with my dogs on65 inch with sound system. Nope, I can wait a week or two until it is available to stream or on DVD. And actually, the wife and I prefer older movies.

A .22 revolver is on my next to get list, after I get a Glock 21 out of layaway. I’ll probably go with one of the new Ruger Super Wranglers. Just wish they’d have made them a 9 shot instead of just 6. 🤨

If you can find one they made single tens. 9 shot 22 revolvers are great though.

originally typed single seven. Freudian slip since I want both.

    Didn't know that papa61.

I've done several searches on it. I only came up with the 2017 and 2021 break ins. But my wife and I were i the store the morning after the last one, just a couple of months ago. I did see it on their FB page at one time but looks like they have a new page now.

  14. My instructor said always start with the last thing that was touched. Take the ac belt off and see if it stops. A/C compressors get really loud when they are about to disembowel themselves. Not sure about big block Chevy but I had a 400cid Ford that would throw the pushrods out of the rocker cups if it sat too long. They only knock for a short time until the pushrods get bent, then you have a dead miss. A collapsed lifter would show as a dead miss. If it's a stuck valve it could be a large ole in a piston. Start with the A/C. Then check for a miss. After that it's removing the rocker covers. Keep in mind, if it is just a lifter, you still need to replace all 16 plus the cam. Now you're into money pit time.

Guns stores need to beef up their security, big time. Need to lock their guns in safe rooms. Theo owner of Specialty Arms did that after they robbed him and a thug burned him out. He has a safe room that is great. Concrete with rebar 2 ft thick on all sides with a big bank vault type door. He has not had any problems since he constructed that room.

Edited to add; The Supreme Court has ruled you cannot shoot someone for stealing mere-property, not that I would want too, and the states will not do much to thief's even if they catch them.

Specialty Arms II in LaVergne? They were broken into in the same back through the front again not long ago. Thieves somehow got around the two large concrete planter style blocks. I think this was the 4th time. Can't find the article but wife and I were in the store the day after.

    I. have a bunch of .22 hand guns.  Not sure I could pick just one.  Strictly for target plinking I would probably go with my Ruger Mark IV with red dot for a semi and for for a revolver my Single Six 9.5” barrel.  I shoot those two the most.  If it is someone getting use to a hand gun with the idea of buying something bigger in the future I would pick my Ruger SR22.  I often drag out a selection of my handguns for a new shooter to try and 4 or 5 have  bought the SR22, one has bought a Mark IV, two have bought either a shorter Single 6 or the cheaper Heritage knock off.

I guess I'm a big Ruger fan, have more Ruger .22 hand guns than any other brand and shoot them the most.

I agree. SR 22 is a great beginner's pistol. I like mine. If I didn't have it the TX22 would be at the top of my list for auto pistols, Not sure for revolvers. Low cost definitely Wrangler, but I do miss my old Single Six.

Why is it that there are a whole host of States that would fulfill a anti-gunners wet dream-

Yet they are continuously trying to screw up a good State-

I am down with the idea that they should just move somewhere that is a lot more restrictive in their rights-

Mexico, Cuba, maybe. We don't need the commiestates gaining more in numbers. Personally I think they should all be tried for treason.

  18. Federal 125gr SJHP. I read that 30 years ago. The only offsetting factor is that the original data started being compiled when most highway patrol and many local LEO carried 357s with Federal ammo. One hypothesis is that the marksmanship training helped contribute to the one shot stops. Gelatin tests and goat testing also favored this load. This is all assuming a two legged predator, for hogs or bear I'd stick with 158gr FP.
I read the "reduced muzzle flash" of modern loads and got a chuckle. Even with a 6 inch barrel you're going to have a big flash.

Still, I would be quite happy with 125gr SJHP of any brand in a gunfight. BTW, 230gr Hydrashok .45 is 92%.

Who doesn’t lock their car in their own driveway?

When we lived up north we locked our car inside a locked garage. That was in the 70's. Our family never locked their cars, hell they left the key in the ignition. People tend to do what those around them do, I was always afraid I'd lock my keys in the car but guessing the thought of it prevented that. If you look back at the discussion of the Memphis police officers being shot by a criminal released on recognizance you'll see what I think of the problem. Our current state of disrespect for the law should not be happening. It is a symptom of lack of respect and responsibility brought about by anti Christian ideals promoted in our schools.
Now I need to use my soapbox to prop up the mower deck while I rebuild it.
