  1. I too go back and forth from a striker fired pistol without a manual safety to a 1911 style pistol with a manual safety. It doesn’t seem bother me at the range, however it may be a little different during a high stress situation. What does seem to bother me is switching back and forth from a Glock with a RMR to a Glock with iron sights. It seems like I’m always looking for that dot if I haven’t practiced.
  2. I personally don’t carry pepper spray but I have had a close encounter with Kimber pepperblaster. Long story short, at a UT football game a kid found the pepperblaster on the ground and thought it was a toy and discharged it while we were waiting in line. Since so many people were standing together it took down about 5 or so. They were all miserable and couldn’t see. If I was going to carry pepper spray that would be it.
  3. Manurhin MR73 Gendarmerie with a 4in barrel. My father has one and I like it considerably more than my SW 586.
  4. Jay is awesome, he has worked on two of my 1911s that I have had problems with. Now they run flawlessly. Communication is great with him and he is cost is very reasonable.
  5. Glock 43 with shield arms z9 magazine
  6. I would probably go with the 9mm if it’s going to be a range gun and 45acp if it’s going to be a carry gun. The recoil from an all steel government 45acp model isn’t bad at all but it does cost a few dollars more on a box of 50.
  7. I’m a big fan of the Glock 43x and have been carrying one for quite sometime with shield mags and mag release. Haven’t had any problems with the mags for years and I keep 15 rounds in them at all times. I can tell you from experience that if you attend a Glock armorers school the instructor will bad mouth the mags and try to make you question their reliability.
