  1. I will echo most everyone else and say go green dot. I find green to be much easier to pick up and track so I am quicker on target. I haven't swapped all my red dots but will start.
  2. I have always thought a good .30 and .22 qd suppressors would cover most calibers. I did a surefire 300sps, then silencerco octane 9, then silencerco switchback, and finally with a surefire rc2. All are great for my purposes. I probably could have lived without the 9mm can though, it sounded great initially with "suppress everything" but often just sits in the safe now.
  3. You should be able to use the spring that comes with the can so the piston you picked out should be all you need.
  4. I would recommend for a red dot and flashlight but if you really do not want an optic than at least a flashlight. Night sights work ok as the lights go out but you also are more likely to lose positive identification of what you're shooting at. Tritium does require at least some light so if there is no ambient light than they are just as useful as regular iron sights, not sure what the lighting in your house looks like but figured I would bring it up.
  5. I would recommend .243 exactly for that. It is a great starter caliber but good enough to keep if a person never wants to change calibers in my opinion.
  6. I don't own a .243 but have shot one before and thought it was pretty tame compared to the .308. I know a lot of people who hunt with it and have had great results.
  7. I think it depends on what you want to do with it. I haven't had a MK18 but have had a few uppers around the 10.5-12.5in. I would say do it in 300 blackout if the intended use is home defense as it is a better caliber out of that barrel length. My 11.5in 5.56 upper is a lot of fun but the caliber is a little lacking at that barrel length. I am a big LMT fan so if you want the MK18 style I would go with one of their uppers or go DD if you want the block II look.
  8. I unfortunately do not have both but I do have an ESEE 4. I do recommend the ESEE 4 and think that it is a great knife. If you went more expensive towards some of the toors, winklers, etc than you may get slightly better but for the money it is great.
  9. I have been using benchmade knives for my EDC for years. They had their PR issue a couple years ago but the knives have been great. For fixed I would do the ESEE 4.
  10. I prefer surefire for pistol lights and modlight for my rifle lights. I don't think streamlight is bad either but I prefer the performance of surefire and modlight.
  11. I have an RMR and a Holosun 508t. I prefer the reticle on the 508T and I got the green version which I prefer to the red dot. I had a vortex venom for a bit but sold it. None of the three gave me any issues. I don't own an ACRO yet but after trying it out I did really like it but not enough to run out and replace my current ones.
  12. I have a C2 and love it. I would like to pick up a CS next. I have shot the P and it was also good but larger than what I wanted to carry. I think they are worth the money and recommend them. I only have about 2K rounds through my C2 but it has not had a malfunction yet.
  13. I figured it was worth it to be able to carry while traveling. The extra training and education is a bonus.
  14. I would do the ruger american ranch and spring for a better stock. Every ranch rifle I have used has worked great. The CZ600 trail lookes interesting and would make some sense as being able to store in a smaller package but those style of stocks have never been sturdy to me.
  15. I have been using the surefire X300U-A for years and would recommend them for any serious use while also being able to slip on and off without tools.
  16. I am also a pretty big fan of the Kore and have been using mine for two years now. I couple buddies made some jokes about the clicking noise while tightening the belt but the ability for small increment changes in size is great.
  17. I am going to echo scatman's comment with the LPVO. If the rifle is mostly for shooting distance go LPVO but if you're doing closer and quicker shots and occasionally shoot distance I would go red dot with magnifier. I am not a huge fan of fixed magnified optics personally as I don't think they are great at anything other than durability or simplicity depending on brand.
  18. I would go either 19 or the 17 with leaning more towards the 19. I really enjoyed mine for the size when I had it but sold it to get a 45. I could be wrong but I found having the slide milled let the optic sit lower than getting an MOS version. Holosun does make an MOS specific optic which does alleviate that problem. Not sure if you have the regular 43 or the 43x but if you only have the regular 43 then I would recommend the 43x or 48. They are slightly smaller than the 19 and with the shield mags they can run 15+1 rounds.
  19. There is also the mossberg mvp in .223. I used to have the .308 version and thought it was good. It does take ar/stanag pattern mags.
  20. I have no experience with them but console vault looks neat. It would go into your center console and then gets screwed into the console. A little bit easier access than a box under the seat but I also imagine anyone breaking into the car is going to open up the console lid and see the locked safe. https://www.consolevault.com/
  21. Without a doubt my favorite is my Staccato C2 with holosun 508t.
  22. The reviews do seem lacking for the armor. I would point out that they claim their armor is tested to "NIJ Standard 0101.6 and beyond," but they don't actually appear to be tested by anyone other than the company themselves.
  23. I am a fan of the LMT SOPMOD and the B5 systems SOPMOD enhanced if you want adjustable. I liked the magpul PRS when I had it and would recommend it for a foxed stock. I haven't messed with the light version but it looks good and seems to get good reviews.
  24. I don't have any experience with that particular model but folding stocks typically make it easier to transport and can make it easier to wield in small quarters at the expense of stability. The ones I have used haven't impressed me much, I would rather a fixed stock shotgun for general purpose or one of the AOW shotguns for breaching if that was your thing.
  25. My LMT .308 with a surefire 300sps and my KAC/LMT 5.56 sbr with a surefire 5.56 rc2.
