    Gotcha, since it's missing the Tula star on the side of the receiver we can glean that it's not a 1955/1956. You're probably dead on that it's a 1954 as I don't see a milled step on the receiver. Bummer that the top cover got lost during refurbishment.

    @vena Some Tulas don't have the star or date on the dust cover. Are there any importing marks on the side of the receiver/stock?

    One last thing, could you get a photo of the Tula star? I was hoping the top cover had an arsenal stamp but I couldn't see one in the photo.
