I received an email from the NRA – ILA claiming credit in leading the way for this bill. For some reason I have strong doubts to the veracity of that claim. There’s is a reason why I am a member of the TFA and not the NRA. If this bill is a good one, I will be putting in personal appearances at the offices of my state legislators. Considering I’m only home for a few days a month at maximum, that is a serious commitment of time for me and sacrifice by my family. I will also be contacting my county sheriff to encourage him to vocally support this measure. I already have a lifetime permit so this will affect me in no way. That said, if this bill is a good one, it will be a huge step to finally get the state of Tennessee to recognize the citizens’ individual right of self-defense. If I want the government to recognize my rights without voting from the rooftops, then my slacktivism must end now. Alternately cheering and bitching on the internet doesn’t seem to do a whole lot. It’s time for me to put some legwork into it.

I believe it’s in reference to LEO/feds that live in state and wish to acquire a state carry permit. It doesn’t prevent them from carrying on creds, just doesn’t give them a head start for a state permit. I know TN exempts them from having to go through the hoops. NC doesn’t.

My lifetime permit is a definite anchor for keeping me in state.

TN doesn’t determine whether or not NC will accept the permit for transfer, NC does. The issuing authority in NC is the county sheriff of residence therefore the sheriff you spoke to is the final authority on the matter.

The fact that they built it for this price using off the shelf parts is truly impressive. The gun is cool, but I think it’s the real story here.

I can vouch for the work they do. John and the crew are top notch. I’ve used them before, and will use them again.

MSRP is $1799 so maybe around $1400+/-street I’m thinking. My Montana had an MSRP in that area and I picked it up for $1200, so who knows. Either way I expect 6.5Cr to be a big seller for it. I do have to say that being 3lbs lighter than my other bolt guns and having that folding stock would make it much easier to take on a long back country hunt.

I’m sorry (not really sorry) but the irresponsible actions of one, do not excuse, nor are they equivalent to, the malicious actions of another. Is it irresponsible to leave a firearm in an unlocked vehicle? No doubt. But in no way is it acceptable to criminalize a victim of a crime because they didn’t “take sufficient measures” to prevent the criminal actions of others. It’s just damn ridiculous to view making the victim of a crime a criminal as an acceptable solution to the problem of criminal behavior from folks acting with true criminal intent.

Manners are such a huge emphasis in our household. Nothing gets me into my children's asses faster in public than rude behavior and lack of manners. Il-mannered people in general drive me up the ####ing wall. HUGE pet peeve of mine.

Before opening your mouth, always ask yourself these three questions. 1) Does this need to be said? 2)Does this need to be said right now? 3) Does this need to be said right now, by me?
